Barnacle Bay Celebrities
« on: November 09, 2011, 04:53:32 AM »
Hi there, I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I started a new Immortal Dynasty in Barnacle Bay after getting Late Night and EVERY sim I can see is a celebrity of at least one star. Is this normal now for Barnacle Bay? And if it is how does one get to impress them without any skills or jobs levels? Or should I save my sim and reload the town? Thanks

There is no way to escape the celecbrity status. In a new town they will appear again. Try and impress tnem talking about skills or jobs. Only way to not have celebs is to uninstall late night.

Reloading Barnacle Bay won't help. Every time I've played there, almost all the townies at the beginning have been celebrities of 1 to 3 stars. Sunset Valley, Twinbrook, and Riverview don't start with so many. But impressing a celebrity isn't hard. If you have a job and a skill point in anything, just keep alternating between talking about the job and the skill.

According to Sims 3 Wiki, some Sims in Barnacle Bay are actually pre-set as celebrities if you have Late Night installed. I don't think SV or RV have the same mechanism, so naturally there'd be slower spread of fame.

I have not played BB for a while, but it was the same with mine too.  They are right, you cannot escape it in BB.  Once you start playing, it is not too bad.  I kinda like getting all of those presents you get when your sims are celebrities. :)

This is true.

In any other town, celebrities only pop up after a day or two.  Barnacle Bay has celebrities from the very start, plus their levels will remain consistent in other games.  Odessa Cross, for example, will be a 2 star celebrity every time you start a game there.

It's best to talk about the celebrity's job and skills, not yours.  That's when it becomes useful to get celebrity gossip and watch the speech/thought bubbles over the celetrity's head.

Thank you for the replies. I did what my daughter suggested and worked on a one star celebrity by lying about my job and skills and it worked! Just goes to prove that not all celebrities are smart  ;D
I managed to move in Alice Gilscarbo and her daughter so things are looking up. Thank you again for all your advice.

Well, as I said above, the celebrity doesn't care about YOUR skills and job.  You must have hit on things that relate to the celebrity.

You can also lie about a skill or interest you don't have. I've had it work for me.
