Stare out window

I have patch level 1.26 and no mods or CC. Sometimes my sims have an action in their queue called "look out window" when they have no other things to do. How do I tell my sims to do that interaction? Or is it an interaction that cannot be forced?

I think it's related to a particular trait (loner? neurotic?), and I don't think it can be forced by you.

Hmm… in my dynasty I've had sims do it that have no traits in common so I'm not sure about that.

It's autonomous. I've been playing TS3 since maybe a month after it's release, and since then, I've never been able to force the interaction (and back then, I didn't even know what CC meant, I hadn't touched the Store, and I couldn't tell the exchange from a bar of soap.)

Okay that makes sense. And it explains why when I click on window there is no interaction for it.

That's happened autonomously to insane and neurotic Sims. I've been playing insane Sims 80% of the time lately, and all my insane Sims do it. I think you can command your neurotic Sims to look out the window though.

My sim's dog also does this.  He always picks the tiny window at the top of a wall and "looks through it" even though he's probably about 12 inches off the ground.  He could never see in that window!    He looks outside in, though.  I've only had one sim I caught doing it recently, though I remember my sims early on when the game first came out doing it, too; he wasn't insane or neurotic and he was looking inside out.

Edited to add that sims in TS2 could do this, too.

I've noticed this happening a lot since Pets. It very rarely happened in my game before. The Sims who are doing it don't have the loner or insane trait. Since they also have a lot of wishes to see deer, raccoons and other animals I was assuming that the "look out the window" action was related to this.

Before Pets I saw sims do this at parties. I think the person doing it was bored because no one was interacting with them.

I've found that any workoholic sims I play do this when they are not at work and are probably wishing the were.

I've notice this sense pets also with all my sims. It doesn't seem to matter what the traits are.

All my sims do it too since pets. I guess they realy want to see that deer lol!

My sims started doing it after the latest patch.
