How Long Does the Mail in the Mailbox Stay For?

I only realised you got certificates for maxing skills when I was zooming in on my sims having a conversation next to the mailbox and noticed the little red ticket thing was sticking up.. Inside the mailbox was a certificate for my sim who had just maxed cooking the day before that mail arrived. However, she had also maxed gardening and painting, and my other sims had maxed a few other skills yet they never got any certificates. So my question is, does the mail disappear if you don't collect it and if so, how long does it stay for? Thank you to anyone who answers. :)

Are you certain that you never had your Sims get mail before this and you just didn't realize that they are in someone's inventory?  The only time I've noticed there being a problem with mail is that if you move before checking the mail or before it comes and you're expecting gems, you don't get what's in the mailbox.   Generally though, I check the mailbox once a week if not more often so I've never seen if it disappears or not.

No, it hadn't been checked before and their inventories didn't have them there. I did move, but before the sims maxed their skills. Perhaps it's just a bug with this particular file. Thanks, Ricalynn. :)

Unless I'm in desperate need of money from gems or metals, I hardly ever check the mail and everything is still in the box.

Ahh it must have just been a bug, then. I'll check it again when my laptop is running. :)
