A bathroom just isn't a bathroom without all that stuff, right?! I'm totally with you here. I hate when I design a bathroom and only when I'm almost done do I realize there's not space to put towels where they'd be easily reached from the tub or shower. Or, there might be space, but in real life, a person would totally be running into the towel rack with it being right next to the door. Usually I just grin and bear it, but that sort of thing has prompted more than one redesign. It frustrates me, too, that there isn't a medicine cabinet with a mirror. Such an object has existed in every house I've ever lived in, but in The Sims, if I want both I have to use two objects and hope there's space. Hampers and space drive me crazy, too. There should be space underneath that sink for a hamper, but if I put it there, my Sims won't be able to access it and I'd have to use moveobjects just to get it in place.
Something I do differently from real life, though, is the doors. I've only ever seen one bathroom with two doors, in my own parents' house, one from the hall and the other from my childhood bedroom. In TS3, however, nearly all my bathrooms have two doors for easy access.
Don't get me started on kitchen accessories or items on a nightstand or dresser!
