$5,000 Deathfish
« on: March 31, 2010, 03:12:08 PM »
Woops. That was decades of weeks ago. Now the mummy is fishing 5.5k per Deathfish average. No wonder I can't ever get rid of my money... and one of the working Sims is retired.

I've heard that it's possible to get a $5,000 Deathfish, but have never done it.  How did you get them up that high?  This is off topic, so I'll split it into a new topic after you post the answer and we can have a separate thread for it.  :)

I don't know what are the main factors.

Anyway, this is what I do:

I have a pond at home stocked multiple times with Alley Catfish, Angelfish, Deathfish and a bunch of other fish.
My mummy Sim fishes non-stop(for about nearly 25 weeks already). Initially starting with plenty of Cheese, then you know where it goes. I do use the Moodlet Manager, btw. My Sim has fished over 1.1k Deathfish so far. Deathfishes weight above 550kg.

Did it seem like the values of the Deathfish steadily rose as you kept on fishing over a period of time?

A death fish giving >5k really gives an interesting possibility.
If it weighs 550kg, then if you grow clones of it with the omniplant, they'll also weigh that much. However, the growth will be at normal quality, so does anybody have an idea as if this method (to grow valuable death fish on omniplants) could be used to maximise this income, or if the quality-fall will be a too great price-fall for this to be a practical option?

In any case, such great fishes could support whole families in an interesting way. I never even knew death fishes could become that valuable! ;D *pondering evil schemes loudly*

I believe that the full quality of any fish is retained with the Omni Plant.  It's fruits and vegetables that lose quality in the clones.

I've never gotten a fish that was worth that much, but I have zero patience with gardening. By the time my sim can grow an omni plant, it's usually endgame and pointless.

Ah, I just noticed the part in the journal that says something about most money made from a fish... My bad. It's $7,303 for a Deathfish. ;D I was probably looking at the lousy 5k fishes among the 300 fishes I had in the mummy's inventory (which totaled $1.5mil). Crap. Now I have nearly 6 mil again.

Did it seem like the values of the Deathfish steadily rose as you kept on fishing over a period of time?

Yes, it rose steadily. The average increases over time. What I meant when I said I don't know what the factors are is whether time increases the value of Deathfish or its bait(my bait is always Perfect, though the weight of Angelfish constantly rises when I fish them) or the number of fish fished.

I believe that the full quality of any fish is retained with the Omni Plant.  It's fruits and vegetables that lose quality in the clones.

I can confirm that... That Deathfish is harvested at the exact same quality, weight and price from Omni Plants. No higher, no lower in value.

Felt more like bragging. Heh. I wonder how far I'd actually be now if my mummy had the Angler trait...

Any idea on how long the mummy has been fishing?

Just above 25 weeks. I think it could be faster if the mummy wasn't do a part-time job, had the Angler trait, and didn't tutor other Sims in that time. A pure fisher could achieve this in a very short period of time actually.

Oh no, I had a bad gut feeling 'bout that :(. This must mean that I'm in for some weird glitch. Thought it was a little weird actually; all the omni plants I ever order are always at normal quality, just as anything I grow on them, even if the fish was of perfect quality! No time for weeping though, I'll survive with a little glitchy game! ;D

Maybe it corrects itself after a while anyways, thanks for the info. :)

Swede,

You're saying that your Omni Plants produce a lesser quality on the fish you feed it?  Not just fruits and vegetables?

That's definitely what I'm saying Pam; but really, if it's just one of those glitches you get sometimes I don't mind since I only use death fishes for ambrosia anyways.

I can't let small things bring me down with this game. :)

This is strange. I've never seen a Sim fish something(e.g.: Minnow) from a pond that doesn't have that fish.
