What is your favorite boarding school?
« on: March 05, 2012, 11:04:32 AM »
Hi everyone!  I'm new to the Generations EP and I was just wondering what is everyone's favorite boarding school?  Also, why do you like it the best?  Thanks!

P. S. - Sorry if there's another thread about this topic already.  I looked around and didn't see one.  If there is, please let me know where.  Thanks again!

It really depends on what I want for that character.  Have you read Carl's guide on boarding schools?  You can find it here.

For a lot of sims I consider the cooking, fishing, gardening trio of skills a requirement for at least one YA in the family (if im not playing Bridgeport where I always make a single sim) because they help so much. When I see this "utility sim" is going to die soon, I have another sim take up the traits and skills for cooking/fishing/gardening. So because of that my most used boarding school is the School of Peace and Love.

I really like that one because even if my sim is going to skill in other things they will always get the "utility" skills that will really help them with everyday life. Plus, it's the cheapest school at 800 simoleons.

Of course as Ricalynn said it really depends on what you want your sim to do... so an ambitions-type sim would probably go for the LeFromage Art School, a more rabbithole sim might go for the prep school... etc

Something odd I realized while reading Carl's guide on the boarding schools is that the Sports Academy and Military school teach Cooking and Gardening/Handiness respectively. I'm not too surprised about handiness because I think it's one of the requirements for Military track but it's nice to b able to learn the "essential" skills from boarding schools focused on other skills.

I really don't care much for the boarding schools. I sent my sim to the LeFromage Art School once and she called so many times asking to come home. I didn't let her, but I was so close to doing it. Plus, it was kind of boring not having her around. So I just don't use the boarding schools.
The outside is quiet, but the inside is on full blast.

I havent used the boarding schools for a long time, I only used it twice, first when I tested out generations and second when I Wanted to get rid of a sim for a short period of time.

I like them all, they're good for you if your family has so many kids and you can't hope, simply send them away for a while  :P

Sent one to a military school and got an immediate call for wishing to come home! Lol!

I really love LeFromage Art School. When my sim had finished the school she came home with the hidden skill dancing!

How do you see hidden skills?

In the case of boarding school, a little notice will pop up when the kid comes home listing any traits and skills gained while in school, including stuff like club dancing. So far I've only had kids in boarding school for a couple of days at a time, but that was one of the few skills gained for mine.

I've never sent any of my sims to boarding schools but I like the one which gives them the ability to do the "peace" sign. I think it's LeFromage, I might be wrong. I always hope for my CAS sims to have that as the place they graduated from.

I also have never sent a sim to boarding school, but I'm considering it for story purposes.
If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0.

It's quite helpful if you have lots of children and can't handle them all.

Boarding schools are great for learning new skills and they keep the kids out of your hair! Sent one daughter,in real life, to boarding school. Now we're best friends!
