can I lose the limo

In the singing career, I have a sim at level 8 and a limo now takes him EVERYWHERE.  Even when I click on his own car the limo still shows up.  I'd like to lose it altogether.  He has the motive mobile which I would much prefer he use.  Is this possible to do?

Have you clicked make preferred vehicle? It makes the the car your Sim has, be the car they get into. My Sim has a car but she gets the limo because of the fact I haven't assigned her a car yet she has one.

That option isn't available on this car.  Maybe because it's the 'reward' motive mobile?  I only have an option to change the name.  He's been using this mobile for a very long time.  This is the first time this issue has come up.  He's been through other careers, but they didn't have limos.  Painting & sculpting.

later today:  I thought to give him a second car and voila, the option came up to "make preferred vehicle".  I did so.  Ughhh, the limo still comes.  If I put the motive mobile in his backpack (something to remember every time I take him out) I can get it to take him home.  A royal pain.  The only way I can see around this problem is to take him a short distance from his home (far enough he'll use a car) and have him take the motive mobile home and then he can go out all rested in the limo.  Not the best solution.  btw, he's the only character I have with this motive mobile.

I would keep the Motive Mobile in his inventory all the time.   If it's in their inventory they are definitely more likely to use it than "public transportation".  The Motive Mobile also has all the same options as any other car so you should be able to make it the preferred vehicle with no problem.   Is your Sim by chance a celebrity?

My two sims a acrobat and singer, both at the top of the professions also just use the limo. They don't use their shiny new cars. It doesn't help to make it preferred vichicle. If I want them to use the car I must click on the car. They are both just 1 star celebrities.

My rocker Sim wanted a motorcycle and I bought it for him but since hes a level 10 singer and a 4 star celebrity he never goes near the thing. It just sat in it's parking spot annoying me until a meteor landed in the yard and destroyed it lol

I now keep the motive mobile in his inventory and a 2nd car in the driveway, so the MM can't be parked there.  Also, he had enough points for the telepad device, so I'm using that to go where I want, tell him to go home with the MM and 2 seconds later he's rested, (gotta love this car) still where I want him and ready to go.  It works...
He's a level 10 singer but no stars for celebrity status.

The MM is the preferred vehicle, but clicking on it even when in the backpack doesn't mean he's going to use it.  'Go Home' seems to be the only option that doesn't bring the limo. 

I had a similar problem once before with the Fire Engine WooWoo 4000.  After days, I finally figured out to put it in the family inventory build/buy mode and that allowed me to use his personal car, the preferred one.  Another sim got a career rewards vehicle and that went into his family inventory right away.  Never used.  Unfortunately, the limo is not a career rewards vehicle which he's entitled to keep.  Shame.
