This is a known bug. Suggested things to try are:

[WORK IN PROGRESS] Issues with time/Clock

If you find you have this bug, please go over to answer.ea.com using the link above and click the Me Too button. -- If we click me too for it, that should help get it some attention and hopefully a fix!!

1. Start a completely new game.

2. Move household to new game.

3. Try playing in a smaller house that isn't full of stuff. As a fully furnished/decorated house will cause lag and freezing.

4. Clear out some of your Sim's personal inventory, if overloaded. As having a lot of things in their inventory is known to cause lag, and game glitches.

5. If problem started after you've downloaded something from gallery, remove those items. - Start with the most recent file you downloaded, and go from there.

6. If/when freezing happens save your game using Save As. Give it a new name. Exit game and then try loading the game again.

7. Lower Graphics settings

8. Run a Clean Boot as this will help with stopping any other programs from interfering.
http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

9. Delete both game cache and Origin cache files

-- Delete Origin Cache
http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,21899.msg401663.html#msg401663

10. Check older game-saves to see if they have the same bug, if not, try going back to it.

11. If playing with game mods and/or custom content try playing the game without it, and if it works well without. Try going through those mods to see which one maybe conflicting with the game.

Hi Sonshine, this has been reported on the official forum by others as well. Please see link and click the "me too button" if desired.

I think suggestions in the meantime were to clear caches and empty personal inventories if overloaded.

Thank you Tigerskin for the link!! :)

I read through the thread and took note of the suggested tips, and added them to the original post. This sounds like a pretty nasty bug. It does sound like EA is looking into the problem.

No problem MrsFlynn. Everyone is so helpful on this forum - which is why I love it. If I can help others I try because I know how frustrating it is when you just want to play the game!  :)
