Information on Sharing/Gifting Games

Technically it's considered illegal to gift or share any used software to anyone regardless if it's a friend or family member. As the games are still registered to you. Specially if you've already registered them to your Origin account already.

You could get your EA account suspended for this. As it's against EA's Terms of Service. It's not advisable to gift or share used software with anyone.

EA Terms: #11. Rules of Conduct - You may violate the Terms of Service if, as determined by EA in its sole discretion, you: - Post, transmit, promote, or distribute Content that is illegal.

Gifting Games

Here's a bit of good news!! EA/Origin Offers Gifting of Games via Origin.

Gifting on Origin

You can now gift any game on Origin to friends and/or family!!

However, you can still buy a box with a game code inside via in-store or from an online retailer like Amazon.com or Walmart.com and send it to your friend or family member.

As you wouldn't be registering the game to your account. You're friend or family member will be registering the game code to their Origin account.

Sharing Games

Sharing games via Origin is still against EA's Terms of Service, at this time. The only way to share your games is to share your Origin account information. ** We do not advise this at all!!** As again, this could lead to account suspension.

However, Steam does allow to share some games, but not all. Please see the link below for more details.

Sharing of games is done through the publisher of the game. So even if you purchase Sims 3 via Steam, for example, you may not be able to share it or allowed to share it via Steam.
