** Quick Tip: If you have a lot of files in any of the folders listed below and want to delete them all, press Ctrl-A  all together, to highlight all the files, and then click delete.

If having Mods and CC issues, move your Mods folder to the desktop, delete the game cache and the localthumbcache.package from the Sims 4 folder found in the Documents folder to help with troubleshooting. Try playing the game again to test. If it loads okay, it may be that some of the mods/cc have become outdated. Check with the creator of any mods and/or custom content you have.

See below what's safe to delete.

-- It's good to do this every now and again, specially if you're installing or removing Mods or custom content. It helps the game forget previously installed mods and CC.

The Sims 4's game cache files are located at Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\ on both PC and Mac. -- You can delete the files in the cache folder to help the game run smoother:

Localthumbcache.package File - As seen in the photo below: Click image for larger view.

It's safe and highly recommended to delete the localthumbcache.package from time to time As this helps "fix" some gameplay bugs.

----

Cache Folder - As seen in the photo below: Click image for larger view.

- In the Cache Folder (Do NOT delete the folder)
- *.cache (all files ending in cache)

The .jpg files as well as the .dat that you find in the cache folder are safe to delete. These come from viewing households/lots from the gallery.

----

Cachestr Folder - As seen in the photo below: Click image for larger view.

- In the cachestr folder (Do NOT delete the folder)
- All content can be deleted, specially the spotlight.package file. - (See Image Here)

----

Onlinethumbnaailcache Folder - As seen in this image. Click image for larger view.

- In the onlinethumbnailcache folder
- This folder and it's contents are safe to delete.

** If you play in offline mode or with Online Access Features turned off, you may not see anything in these folders (cache, cachestr, onlinethumbnailcache). This is normal. However, if you forget to turn off Wifi before starting the game, you will see the folders.

If you have an older Sims 4 folder that still have the cachewebkit file and lotcachedata folder you can delete them. As they are safe to delete and no longer there by default.

Meaning that when you create a new Sims 4 folder, they will not show up as they are no longer needed by the game.
