Been a while...
« on: September 17, 2025, 07:08:26 PM »
It's been quite a while since I've played any of the Sims franchise that I have (yes, from the very start) and I was a little nostalgic for the Sims 3 and wondered if anyone has tried....
I work almost exclusively on my Win 10 desktop these days and I was wondering if anyone has tried to take a hard drive from a Win 7 machine and connect it to a Win 10 machine via USB inclosure and run the game from that external drive?

I wasn't sure if it would run into any driver or compatability issues or not.  The community here, esp MrsFlynn has always been on top of all things Sims, so I figured someone has had to have tried it.

Anyone run into any issues?

Thx in advance
N7

Hi NanoSeven,

The game should run fine off an external drive, just make sure you keep the drive plugged in all the time, or Windows can change the drive letter. If you need to change the USB port the drive is connected to, make sure you either safely remove the device in Windows, or shut the computer down before unplugging the drive.

Hope this helps!! :)
