Quick update!  Being back home isn't so bad.  Cersei and I went to dinner the other night to reminisce about China.  we both loved it there.

I'm gonna suggest that Daddy buys the bistro next.  They've already bought a few venues around town and fixed them up.  They put a bar and a bubble machine into the pool club, and it's super cool there now.  Mom really likes it.

She's amazing.  She juggles so much!  She's teaching Brynden to walk while also working on her career.

The police station wanted her to make an ice sculpture of a Sim so she decided to try and sculpt Cersei.  She did an absolutely stunning job of it.

I play with the drum set in the studio a lot.  I'm not a virtuoso or anything, but I find it fun to make lots of noise!

Daddy spends lots of time with Brynden too.  Cersei doesn't like that he seems to already be teaching him "bad lessons" as she says.  I think it's pretty funny.  Can you say 'evade arrest' little one?  Can you?  Goochie Goo.

Prom, Little Brothers, and the Teen Party
« Reply #31 on: November 05, 2012, 10:14:40 AM »
I'm gonna miss having a cute little toddler for a brother, I think.

Brynden aged up into a genius bookworm who is also a couch potato.  I think those things go pretty well together.

Dad rolled a wish to send Brynden to Smuggsworth Prep School.  Brynden initially seemed pretty excited about it.  I explained to him that he'd have to make his home there, in the dorms, and he said he could do that, no problemo.

Well, off he went a few days before our prom.  Cersei and I didn't have dates.  We thought it'd be fun to both go solo and hang out for most of the night.  We even got semi-matching dresses.

Well, Cersei for one had just a FANTASTIC time.  She got crowned prom queen and hit on by this guy Bart, who I think she had a crush on anyway.  He asked her out on a date for later in the week.

I, however, got rejected for a dance, got into a fight, and overall felt horrible by the end of the night.  It's just not fair.  I'm just as pretty as Cersei and am naturally flirty besides.  I don't understand why none of the boys wanted to dance with me.  I felt pretty bummed when I got home and stared at myself in the mirror for a while trying to figure out what I'd done wrong.

Gran sent me to bed, saying it's just silly teen boys and it'll be better when I'm older.  But I can't help just being a little bit jealous of Cersei and her perfect high school life.

Well, when we woke up the next morning, the adults had news for us.  They'd won a two day trip to Bridgeport and were leaving us in charge of the house while they were gone.  Cersei shrugged this off like it was nothing, but I knew exactly what to do.  This was an opportunity to party!  I immediately called around and scheduled a get together for after school on Friday night.

We had a little surprise right before the party.  Brynden called ME, not Mom or Daddy, and asked if he could pleeeease come home.  He HATED Smuggsworth.  Well, what was I supposed to do?  Leave him there to suffer.  I said sure, come on back, and he did.  He told me how awful and dramatic it had been there and then went up to sleep.

The party was - in a word - epic.  I ordered pizza and forgot about it again, so Cersei did her thing.  That's our cousin Lysa in the back there.  She has the coolest bathing suit I've ever seen.

We ate pizza and danced and swam in the pool and relaxed in the hot tub.  It. was. incredible.

Toward the end of the night, I was taking a relaxing soak while that guy Bart hit on our cousin instead of Cersei, and I failed to notice that we had a party crasher.

Turns out she's friends with Gran.  She called our parents and ratted us out.  It was pretty bad.  They drove back from Bridgeport in like .2 seconds.

Mom yelled at Cersei, even though she knows Cersei wasn't the "ringleader."

And Gran gave it to me.  We're both grounded for a while.

Is it awful that I think it was kind of worth it?  Anyway, Daddy is an evil genius, so I think he kind of approved.  I waited a day and then cornered him before breakfast to ask him to let us off the hook.  You can see Brynden in the background there rolling his eyes at how obvious he thinks I am.

So we were free!  Cersei was able to go on her date with that guy Bart (even though he was obviously hitting on Lysa).  This is him:

I was relieved to hear she got bored fo him pretty quick and spent the rest of their date at the bubble bar.  She says her favorite flavor is banana and the best part of the date was the part where Bart wasn't there.

Life in the Targ House
« Reply #32 on: November 05, 2012, 10:30:59 AM »
Things are in a pretty good rhythm at home.  Mom and Daddy are still pretty gooey and all over each other most of the time.

I'm allowed to pratice mixology at the pool bar (though Daddy says no moonlighting until I'm a young adult).  It's fine.  I dont' want to be a mixologist anyway.  I'm going to be a P.I.  I love snooping around and am pretty good at getting a read on people, plus I'm super brave.  I haven't told them yet.  I think Daddy will be more okay with having a P.I. for a daughter than a cop.

He's a super villain at work now.  He came home the other night all exploded and singed.  We dont' know what happened, but since he realized how funny we all found it, he walked around like that for a few hours.  Here's Cersei trying to keep a straight face while he talks to her about her career plans.

Cersei wants to go into politics.  I think that's pretty idealistic for a girl with the "good" trait, but hey, more power to her.  On our last day of high school, our teacher died on a field trip to the police department.  It was pretty dramatic.

Cersei rolled a wish to be a surgeon and I rolled one to see more ghosts.  We are different people, my sister and I.  When it was time for Brynden to age up, I whispered to him that he had to do one thing before it happened, which he did.  Then we all cheered and he blew out the candles.

And Dad got to destroy his last sand castle (until grandchildren.  Shudder.)

Great Aunt Lyanna died, which has been upsetting for Gran.  She insists that she's on borrowed time and tries to spend as much time with all of us as possible.  We all know Cersei is her favorite, and it's not something anyone feels jealous or angry about.  It's a pretty beautiful bond between the two of them.

Mom had a midlife crisis.  Not much changed (that we know of).  No big purchases or anything.  She did start painting some pretty disturbing stuff, though.

Maybe she should seek some therapy.

We still have ghosts.  Dad hasn't made a decision yet on where to relocate the graves.  I don't mind them now that they've stopped haunting my bed.  They seem to really love the water slide.

Dad also "procured" (stole) some more gnomes for Gran.  She thinks they're funny now, but still hates the vampiric ones.  The invention one is always inspecting the electronics in our house, whereas the sculpting one Great Aunt Lyanna made seems to be kind of sullen and sits outside thinking all the time.  I named him Wiggums.  Maybe that's why he's upset.

Young Adults At Last
« Reply #33 on: November 05, 2012, 10:44:12 AM »
We had a big pool party bash for our young adult birthday.  I still haven't mastered diving, but no one seems to mind much!

Cersei is the better diver, but I can still hold my breath longer than my sister!

When it came time for the cakes, we were ready!  Finally free of childhood!  Cersei got all etheral and contemplated her birthday wishes.

Finally I shouted at her to get on with it, making everyone laugh, and she blew the candles out.

I wasted absolutely no time at all on my turn!  (That's teen Brynden behind me, by the way.  Forgot to show him earlier)

Here are Cersei and I in our first moments as Young Adults.  She's opted to tame her amazing hair to suit a political life.  I haven't changed mine because it's awesome and perfect.

When we sat down for cake, I noticed something on the small of Mom's back.  Guess she gave into that midlife crisis in the end.  Way to go, though, Mom.  That is pretty hot!

So we graduated.  Here I am in my non-traditional grad cap.  Mom and Gran fretted that I'd get in trouble, but Dad and Rhaella loved it!

I did one night of moonlighting just to say I'd done it.  It was actually kind of fun!  Gran came and ordered a spine reticulator.

I took my first P.I. case and found out that the people of Riverview are absurdly paranoid.

I may have done some things I'm not proud of.  But I solved the case in the end.

Return to China
« Reply #34 on: November 05, 2012, 10:52:25 AM »
Cersei and I decided to celebrate our young adulthood by going back to China, all on our own.  We both loved the freedom of the trip.

I met this (crazy?) woman who was obsessed with some legendary axe.  She hired me to find it, having heard of my success with the Dragon's Maw back in my teens.

I took my time on that project.  I had some stir fry (my absolute favorite food) and visited some old friends before eventually making my way over to the temple of heaven.

This tomb was much more challenging than the Maw.  I had to do quite a lot of stair climbing and well diving, which means I was soaked for the better part of 48 hours.

I also learned (out of necessity) how to disarm steam traps.  They are EVERYWHERE in this particular tomb.

I found the axe in the end.  It is an amazing thing.  It isn't quite electrified, but it emits light.

Anyway, accomplishing this, and then taking care of the hot springs boulder which is what I'd been hired for in the first place ended up getting me to a level 3 visa.  Which means next time we're in China, we're getting a vacation home! I knew I was the right person to inherit this legacy.

We came home to Brynden throwing his first slumber party.  The teens were lined up in this creepy uniform line down the hallway.  If it weren't for that trouble maker there toward the end, they would've been perfect parallel pods.

Cersei got asked out by our handyman.  I think she liked him, but she has been mum on the subject.

And I've officially been added to the gallery of heirs.  I will do this family proud.  Just wait and see.

Relationships are a Funny Thing
« Reply #35 on: November 08, 2012, 09:35:25 AM »
I think Daddy had an inkling that his impending promotion would stir things up in the Targ house.  His last day as a Super Villain saw him pensive and somewhat nervous.

Strangely, that same night, there seemed to be some gnome bullying going on in the garden.  There's not much you can do since they aren't mobile when you're looking, but shame on you, Hank the Magic Gnome of Invention.

I even saw Great Aunt Rhaella feeding on the butler.  I knew it happened, but I had never witnessed it before.  It was a pretty fearsome sight.

Though afterward, the butler seemed to have enjoyed it somewhat.  Her name is Delilah and she hits on Daddy a LOT.

Anyway, it happened.  Daddy got his promotion and for a while it seemed like everything would be normal.  Gran continued her time travel adventures, usually putting herself in absurd peril for a woman past 100.

Cersei continued dating the handyman.  His name is Elmer.  I only mention it because it sounds hilariously unrefined next to Cersei.

And Brynden went to prom with his girlfriend, Vicky Clemens.

I, somehow, am still single.  I can't really make sense of it, but the only men (and women) who seem to be drawn to me are either morbidly obese, elderly, or both.  Oh, or taken by a morbidly obese, physically abusive vampire.  This is Jon.  I found out later.

Things didn't really start to go south until Brynden's adult birthday.  Cersei had some sort of Pavlovian response to celebrations and changed into a bathing suit for the cheering.  It was cute.

When we went for his graduation the next day, it was the first time Daddy ever glowed red.  And boy, suddenly his relationships with everyone except me and Brynden hit the tank.

Suddenly he and Mom started sniping at each other, and he had nothing to do with his mother or aunt.  It was the darndest thing.  I did a bit of research about Emperors of Evil and their relationships, but I couldn't find anything useful.

Gran and Rhaella have been whispering to each other a lot lately too.  I don't know if it's about Daddy or the legacy, but I know that Gran feels like she is going to go any second and is trying to cram as much into her remaining time as she can.

Just when it seemed the family was in complete upheaval, my baby brother decided to pop the question to his girlfriend.  So, I guess there are more changes to come!

Cersei immediately wanted to invite her Elmer along to the wedding.  They are officially boyfriend and girlfriend now.  He said he couldn't wait to meet the family properly, and not just fix the toilets.  Ha.  Poor, naive man.

Brynden's Wedding
« Reply #36 on: November 08, 2012, 09:45:41 AM »
My job keeps me pretty busy.  Daddy is relieved that I am in no way a cop ... or even really behaving legally half the time.

People beg me for help, though.  It's nice to feel important.  I'm advancing pretty quickly in my career.

Brynden insisted on arranging his own bachelor party ... so obviously it wasn't as good as it would've been if he had given it to me.  There weren't even any dancers.  Gran got her boogie on, though, and Cersei and Lysa tore up the dance floor a little.

I attempted to liven things up a bit, but my efforts were wasted.

In the end, I tortured myself by talking to cute, ginger, taken-by-an-abusive-undead-fat-woman Morey.  Ah well.

The day of the wedding arrived and we set up in the backyard per family tradition.  The gnomes even seem to have made nice and turned out to watch.

Mom and Gran were both exhausted from no sleep during preparation, but watched the ceremony anyway.  Mom was super touched by the whole thing.

Vicky, for some reason, has decided to keep her last name.  Which means any children born to the two of them will be Clemens..es  not Targs.

My brother is far too smitten to care.

It seemed like the perfect wedding.  Until right before the cake cutting ...

Rhaella's boyfriend suddenly stood up and turned to dust!  It was shocking.  Grim showed up and took him away right on the spot.  I think the entire congregation was somewhat traumatized.

None so much as my great aunt.

Recovery
« Reply #37 on: November 08, 2012, 09:57:58 AM »
Rhaella decided to take responsibility for cleaning up her late boyfriend's ashes.  She did it quickly and without ceremony and decided to throw herself into her painting.  She has a commission for ten at the moment.

I had breakfast with Susan the Gnome (yes, Susan has a beard.  What of it?) and confided that I needed some time away.  I'm a flirt and a party animal, after all.  I should not be the last member of this family to find love.  Besides, Daddy and Mom are clearly headed for divorce (their relationship bar is all the way in the red), and I'm having some trouble coping.

So, I flew to Egypt.

I hit the tombs almost immediately.  I ignored obvious danger, including a skeleton next to one of my floor switches.

I even slept in the tomb and continued this particular raid in my underwear.  Why not?  The tomb had been empty for millenia.  The axe came in particularly handy.

It was while I was emptying out some chests in a burial room that I realized I was not alone.

I managed to slip past him for a brief moment, but I could hear him gaining on me, and suddenly I just wanted a fight.

Well, I got one.  And I lost.  And then the mummy asked me what my sign was.  That was probably the weirdest part.  It was all like, "blarrargh, rawwwrr, so, what do you do for fun?"

Right.  No more tomb raiding in my underwear.  I went back to base camp to recharge and was humming a Chinese folk song to myself, wondering if I shouldn't have just gone back to China, where I feel most at home, when suddenly a rich baritone joined in on the song.  I looked over and saw it was coming from another explorer cooking his breakfast over the open fire.

His name is Wang.  He's got a great sense of humor and is a hopeless romantic.  I found him ridiculously appealing.

It's not that the Egyptian men weren't attractive.  They certainly were.  They were just ALL married.  Not that it detered their flirting, but that's another matter.

Wang took me to an ancient shipwreck off the shore of the northern end of the city.  "It's European," he explained.  "Likely from the Targaryen dynasty."  I felt like that was a sign.  So I kissed him.

Old Age

We lost Gran.  She was out in the garden, bonding with Vicky and suddenly her life just ended.  She was 112.

Sadly, I was on the job and missed saying my final goodbyes, but the family rushed to the site in time to see Grim take her.

For the first time, Grim stuck around for a second.  He contemplated Rhaella closely.  "You can't cheat me forever," he seemed to say.

Then Grim vanished in a puff of smoke and Daddy wet himself and passed out.

Cersei is taking it hardest.  It makes sense.  She and Gran were very close.  The morning after the funeral we held each other for such a long time out by the pool.

Sometimes it's hard to know the right thing to say.  Holding my sob-racked twin was heart-crushing.

Mom and Daddy aged up to elders on the same day.  They still seem to hate each other.  That red glow is obviously to do with it.

I have suggested that if Daddy retire, the glow will stop and he can attempt to win his wife back over before it's too late.  Who knows if he even cares, though.

Gran has joined the honorary ghost ranks in the traditional way - the water slide.

I've never seen a ghost show up so quickly.  She was out and about just two nights after her passing.

We've all been so consumed in our work that no one realized Vicky was pregnant until she went into labor one night.  She had been going to work and everything!

She gave birth to a grumpy artist named Eddard.

Brynden decided it was time to move his family out.  I think he wanted to avoid all the negativity going on between our parents.  He found a little house on the other side of town.

I've been attempting to distract myself int he usual ways.  I work hard.  I snoop and sometimes have to disguise myself.

Talk about incognito!

I even take Cersei out with me sometimes to attempt to dance away the stress.

We're all aware of that legacy wall back home.  We're all aware of the horrible vibe between Daddy and mom.  We all miss Gran horribly.  It just takes some distraction sometimes.  That's how I talked Cersei into going back to China with me.

A Chinese Home

Cersei is a politician, but her lifetime wish is to be a master of the martial arts.  She has to max the skill out and defeat every ranked opponent in her class.  For this, she has to be in China, but she practices at home pretty regularly.

Sim Fu probably would've come in handy when I was dealing with that fresh mummy, but I've never had much of a knack for it.  Cersei's main hangup about our trip was leaving Elmer.  I think she's planning to pop the question soon.  She promised to call him lots.

He assured her it was fine and to have a good time and they had a properly sappy goodbye-for-now.

When we got back to Shang Simla, I found us a little house on the outskirts of the Forbidden Village.  It is difficult to get a decent shot of it, because it spans three stories and is on a hill, but it will do very nicely as a vacation home.  I decided a housewarming party was in order, so we could meet the other young adults in the area properly.  I served drinks and a buffet table to prepare.

A couple of guests brought cheeseburgers.  I guess they wanted to appeal to our American-ness.  They went into the fridge for later.  When Wang showed up, I was beside myself with excitement.  He looked SO handsome in his formal clothes.

In a rare turn of events, it was Cersei tearing up the dancefloor and me mooning over someone in the corner that night.  Can't say I have any complaints at all.

Courtship and Ranked Sparring
« Reply #40 on: November 09, 2012, 10:21:45 AM »
While Cersei trumped victory after victory over her sparring combatants, Wang and I spent a few days in Camp Peony taking it easy.

Things moved pretty quickly for us and we're in an exclusive relationship now.  After all, neither of us are getting any younger.  Unfortunately the paparazzi were out and about while we were having our romantic tryst.

It really was hopelessly romantic.  We cooked over the open fire and talked for hours on end.

Meanwhile, Cersei was honing her skills.  She was cooking up a storm, not wanting to live on "quick meal rations" now that we had a vacation home.

Studying charisma for her political job back home.

And systematically defeating everyone in her rank group at Sim Fu.  She's now ranked at Class 3

It won't surprise anyone that after a couple of days camping with Wang, I popped the question.  He accepted!

We decided he'd move in with us before we headed back to Riverview, but first Cersei and I were going to throw a bachelorette party with the local ladies.

It was a particularly wild night.  I bought a veil for the wedding and for some reason it attached itself to my bachelorette outfit.  I think it looks kind of fetching though.  You know I do love a good party!

And believe me, I was not the only one.

I mixed up some party drinks at our new bar to loosen everyone up and boy it did the job.  I have no idea what that man is thinking, but it seems to be a pretty fun thought.

While I was upstairs checking out our hired dancer (Chip Offablock, ha), someone told me Cersei was on the counter!  I couldn't believe it.  My sister has never danced on a table or counter in her life.

I rushed downstairs to see this for myself and man, it was definitely something.

When I remember my bachelorette party, I will remember a dizzying amount of juice and music and dancing.

But mostly, I'll remember my sister.  Because she's incredible.

The Tail End of the Vacation
« Reply #41 on: November 09, 2012, 10:32:04 AM »
Wang is officially part of the family now!  We're waiting until we get back to Riverview to get married (since Mom and Daddy both want to physically 'SEE' it happen), but he is all moved in.  Here he is after the makeover (we had to do something about those eyebrows).  He's in his athletic clothes because he works out pretty constantly.  His lifetime wish is Perfect Mind, Perfect Body (which I find pretty hot.)

We both think constantly about the wedding.  I'm still on the fence about whether to wear traditional Chinese red or traditional Riverview white.  We shall see.

Wang and my sister are still trying to get used to each other.  I think part of the awkwardness stems from the fact that they're both very attractive adults and can't help but notice that about each other.  Obviously!  As long as they don't act on it, I couldn't care any less!

After all, China is full of beautiful people.  I can't believe how the handymen look here.  I asked Cersei if she could picture Elmer in that!

Speaking of Elmer, Cersei is worried.  We both cashed in "clean slate" rewards when we got here to get rid of our inexplicable 'naughty' reputations, and now Elmer is missing from Cersei's contacts.  She can't get ahold of him at all.  We're hoping we can find him when we get back.

She finally defeated her toughest opponent yet and earned a black belt.  She fought this guy five times before winning!

She doesn't like to be watched while sparring, so Wang and I hung out at home and I made a few drinks for our last day in Shang Simla.

Cersei was satisfied with finally beating that guy, and spent her final hours in China practicing independently in her new, esteemed, Level 9 black belt.

True Love

We gave Mom a makeover as soon as we got back.  She hadn't aged up very gracefully to an elder, and it helped some to dye her hair and brush up the wardrobe.  Then we advised Daddy to be FRIENDS with her first.  LOTS of dates and LOTS of friendly interactions until their relationships are back in the green.  So that's what he did.

For weeks.

They dated like teenagers, until at long last ...

Honestly it got a bit out of hand once their relationship was completely repaired.

Mercifully all was well in the kingdom of Targ in time for my wedding.  We set up a beautiful wedding area in the back yard.

We exchanged vows in the moonlight

I won't lie.  Two people died during the ceremony.  Grim does love parties.  I didn't manage to get good shots of it.  I did however catch Lysa helping herself to the hot tub.

We decided now that we're married to move into Gran's old room.  I really need to do something about that wallpaper.

We fit nicely in there anyway.

The party was still raging on the next morning.  Cersei had stolen away to the gardens, looking for Elmer, and when she found him, she was the happiest woman on earth.

She proposed on the spot and suggested they make use of the wedding set-up and ready-made guests in our yard.

They exchanged rings a few hours later amongst our sleep addled hangers on.

Nooboos All Around
« Reply #43 on: November 14, 2012, 08:52:20 PM »
I'm expecting!  I don't know what to expect, so I swung by Brynden's house to visit little Eddard.  He's a sweet toddler.

I'm not the only one, either.  Elmer couldn't move in if they were to have a nooboo, so he lives nearby while Cersei stays with us.  She spent most of her early pregnancy doing this.

Elmer spends the night with us frequently, so even though he doesn't live here, he is part of the family.

We all remain career driven, even with the new additions on the way.  Rhaella is an astronaut.  Vampire astronauts deserve some sort of special recognition for being so many kinds of awesome.

Cersei is vice president now and working extra long hours. I continue to investigate through my pregnancy.  So, don't mind that heavily pregnant woman in the red coat digging through your trash.  It's all in a day's work.

Cersei and I compare pregnancies regularly.  It's quite fun expecting at the same time.  Hers feels like a troublemaker.

She says mine sounds like a rebel.

I really don't know what I'd do without her.  Hugging around the bumps is apparently super cute.

I went into labor first during a game of Gnubb.

Cersei panicked.  There are lulls between the pain and I asked her quite calmly to drive me to the hospital, and just shouted back, "AM I GOING TO MAKE NOISES LIKE THAT?"

I gave birth to a healthy little girl I've named Arya.  In another stroke of luck regarding namesakes, she rolled Disciplined and Athletic traits.  (The Watcher was very surprised.)

Now that Arya's here, Cersei cannot wait to meet her nooboo.  She will talk to Arya and ask her if she's ready for her cousin.

And, as to be expected, Mom is an excellent help with her Family Oriented trait.

I happened to pass by the spa on the day Cersei went into labor, just as she exited and began her pains.  I'm ashamed to say my reaction was identical to hers.

This is Tommen.  Like so many babies our Watcher gets in this game, he is an artistic genius.

Cersei is enamored.

Toddler Time!
« Reply #44 on: November 14, 2012, 09:01:28 PM »
We had birthdays for Arya and Tommen on the same day.  Rhaella, ever the loving auntie, asked to take Arya to the cake.  How could we refuse?  I sometimes wonder if she'll ever have a child of her own.

Cersei and Elmer took little Tommen to his cake

Lots of cheering was had.  (You'll notice Cersei still thinks birthday time means time to wear a bikini, for some reason)

We ended up with the cutest toddlers known to Sim kind.

Arya's favorite color is yellow and Tommen's is black.  We've arranged their little wardrobes accordingly.  On the day of their birthday, I got the strangest letter.  It was as follows:

My Dear Catelyn,

I am so pleased that my Lady Nymeria succeeded in building a new family in Riverview.  I continue to check in periodically to ensure progress is being made and everyone is healthy and happy.  Enclosed, please find two very special dolls for the new children in your home.  You will find them to be very important.  Also, please seek out two orange vials in your Grandmother Rhaena's trunk.  Save one for each child to be given on their teen birthdays.  All will be clear in time.

With love,

D. Wyles

Well, strange as that is, the kids did take to the toys very quickly.  Arya calls hers something that sounds like "Jenny"

Tommen's is possibly "Jerry."  We suspect that will become clearer in time.

Their toddler days flew past, but enjoy some highlight photos of the experience.

Next up, childhood!
