How Do you Solve a Problem Like Rhaella?
« Reply #75 on: November 29, 2012, 11:03:36 AM »
Dear, dear readers.  I, as Watcher, am feeling quite guilty about one of my beloved Targs.  Rhaella's life kind of depresses me.  She can't "try for baby" with her boyfriend.  Her age, in addition to being vampiric is glitched all to crap, so she's constantly showing like 70 days left in her young adulthood, and she's maxed out enough skills to be fairly bored most of the time.

This is beside the fact of the amount of babies she's taught to walk who have died from old age down the road.

So what to do?  Turn her human?  Let her get married and move out?  Keep her with the family forever as the constant vampire/chef/nanny/divine protector?

Rhaella was always meant to be a "spare."  When she got back from boarding school, I planned to marry her off as soon as possible and move her out, but her homewrecking and constant wishes to turn to a vampire made her a bit more interesting than I anticipated.  Now I'm not sure what to do with her.

What do the readers think?

It's a shame she cant try for baby :(

I think you should let her get married and move out and see if story progression gives her any nooboos
From the moment I fell down that rabbit hole I've been told what I must do and who I must be. I've been shrunk, stretched, scratched and stuffed into a teapot. I've been accused of being Alice, and of not being Alice, but this is my dream. I'll decide where it goes from here.

I would keep her as an extra helper.  Make her stay up and look after the babies, teach them stuff, bring them to their cake for birthdays.  She's like a permanent fixture.  I like seeing her.  Make it interesting by sending her in the time machine to get a child, or how about cloning?

I say keep her.

Personally I prefer that she stays. She's like the one person who doesn't change...I'm sorry about the bugged aging though. I don't play Supernaturals other than fairies and witches so I never knew that.

She should have her own kid somehow though...cloning's fine with me.

Yeah, it's kind of neat having one of Lady Nym's daughters always in the house.  I even briefly considered maybe she turns out to be Dr. Wyles, but no, we already established he was male.  I don't have Supernatural, so that might have something to do with the issue.  She is a Late Night vampire.

Story progression is not kind to the fertility of my move-outs.  Elia and Lysa never had another nooboo, and neither did Brynden or poor, cornrowed Eddard.  (Endless amusement there if you're familiar with the asoiaf series.  There goes Ned Stark.  In cornrows.)  She'll have to stay in the house and either adopt, get clone-y, or take lots of trips through the timestream.

This is true.  I've kind of set the precedent now.  I just have to keep her occupied.  The new career is one thing ... maybe I'll have "her" redesign the shoe box or use her obscene amount of lifetime happiness points to populate the town with lots of genies.

That's too bad :( I think cloning her would be pretty cool :) she was a gorgeous teen if I remember correctly

Riding off into the Sunset (Valley)
« Reply #81 on: December 04, 2012, 02:57:12 PM »
Do you know what it feels like to glitch?  Ever had deja vu?  Or seen the movie Groundhog Day?  Well, that's one part of it.  The other is that feeling you get when you've had a bad nap.  Your throat hurts and your eyes won't focus and everything just seems exceptionally crappy.  That's what was happening to us.  Over and over and over again.  Summer became an adult dog four times, and each time crashed and ended up not only a puppy again, but with extra days added to her puppyhood and a random Piggy trait that she didn't bargain for or deserve.

Glitching.  It's the worst.

So, the day I became a young adult, I proposed a solution to my family.  A new town.  A new home where our coding would be refreshed and we'd stop crashing so much.  I didn't come up with the idea on my own.  Dr. Wyles wrote me again.  And he told me that I'd have to divulge the consequences to my family before we left.  That was going to be the hard part.

But first, let's just focus on what was fun.  One final cake getting in our ancestral home.  Sansa's older, so she went first.

And I wished that this would go smoothly.

My sister ... okay, let's just be honest here.  She's a knock out.  But don't EVER tell her that.  Ever.

I decided to not grow any facial hair or anything.  I mean, why hide perfection?

And then we had to have the talk.  Sansa's first question was whether Petyr and his family would be able to come with us.  The question of Ken hung in the air and I could see that she would feel guilty asking.  Would feel selfish.  Well, Dr. Wyles had seen to that.  Both families could be safely transported with us to the new town, but at a cost:

Anyone not related to us would forget us entirely.  Kaput.  Sansa would have to start over entirely with Ken and Rhaella would lose her best friend in Danica.

Sansa and Mom held hands and talked in low voices for a moment before agreeing to the plan.  While the rest of the family mulled it over, the two of them went to see the Other Targs.

Mom explained the situation to Geri - arguably the head of that particular household.  Sansa attempted to be patient and wait outside.

Once she got a nod from Mom through the window, she approached Petyr, expecting him to be hesitant, but man, the guy was thrilled!  Charlie seemed happy to do whatever as long as he got to be with his husband and daughter.

Sansa spent the rest of the evening falling in love with one of their kittens.  (Quaithe had been a naughty cat and had gotten surprise pregnant).  It's a shame they weren't willing to let her adopt.

The next day was both our last day in Riverview and the last day of Spring.  I was busy packing up the essentials - our family portraits and the time machine - while Sansa told Ken what was going to happen.

Later she'd tell me that he had seemed frightened, but willing to give it a shot.  "It's better than having you leave and remembering it all," he said.

They tested their chemistry at the festival.  A silly thing to do, but if they could be reassured, then I'm glad they were.  It's not fun being so serious about everything and this anxiety is giving me anti-Bran feelings.

I showed up toward the end of the festival and saw them dancing while the sun set.

For the first time in my life, I felt a bit lonely.  I guess that's kind of selfish, isn't it?  It started raining, but their smiles never wavered.

I wasn't eavesdropping (much), but I could hear them from where I was helping Dora collect eggs.  "I'll find you," he said, his face a mask of determination.

My sister just smiled her beautiful smile.  "You won't have to," she said.  And my heart broke.

The first problem we encountered in Sunset Valley was that the lot we'd been meant to purchase was gone - occupied by an Equestrian Center.  I told the family not to panic and set us up temporarily in a house near the town center.

I installed a Not-So-Routine Machine and spruced up the bedrooms a bit.  If nothing else the next family that lives here will have stuff for dog ownership and a two-child nursery.

Sansa's working as an actress and loooves the machine.  I like it too, though my hours are more what you'd call open.

Ready for the big surprise?  I'm a firefighter!

Perfect, right?  Mom always said she didn't want me getting the wrong idea about fire - so I spend all day putting them out.

I also spend a good amount of time being bullied by the weight machine.

Whatever.  Soon I shall be a sculpted adonis.

We haven't found Ken yet.  Sansa tries to stay confident but I can tell she's worried  I heard recently that he was dating a woman named Fiona - a redhead, just like my sister, but nowhere near as pretty.  I haven't said anything to her, but I know she'll find out eventually.  I have been browsing the local listings trying to find him.

I met a local lady who seemed muuuch older than me (but isn't, guess it's the horrendous hair).

She said she works with Ken over at the paper and would be happy to "introduce" me.  That was a relief.  I think she was kind of flirting with me.  No thank you.

In other news, Rhaella has asked me to shake a leg on building our new house.  I've purchased some property down by the waterfall.  She says that we've got some suspect neighbors.

Mom and Dad both seem to love Sunset Valley.  They spent the first few days here on one long date.

The summer festival here is much bigger, and they seemed to really enjoy everything it had to offer.

At the end of their long romantic tryst, they had a moonlit picnic on the beach, and my dad did something he's wanted to do since high school.

"Arya," he said.  "I love you.  I have always loved you.  You are the first thing I was ever aware of.  You are what makes me human.  Please, finally, after all this time, will you do me the honor ...?"

"...of being my wife?"

Spoiler alert:  She said yes.

The Way Things Should Be

So, I built a house.  Did you ever doubt I could?  It doesn't even resemble a shoe box.  Thank you floorplan websites!

Okay, so the roof(s) are a little odd.  If anyone out there knows how to fix that, the Watcher is standing by.  It's three stories, let's take a peek inside.

Ground Floor:

Second Floor:

Attic/Gallery:

Summer aged up permanently this time, and in the dead of night, with no one but our resident vampire to cheer.

She loves Summer though, and promptly suited her up for a walk to the dog groomer.

My little Summer slept in her bed as a full grown, GORGEOUS adult dog for the first time.  I got her a forest green collar to match my clothes.

I finally broke down and told Sansa about this Fiona character.  "Single mother, apparently.  Much older than Ken.  You could always beat the attraction out of her?"

Sansa sighed.  "I'll run into him soon enough.  I mean, I've met everyone else.  His mother is dating Connor Frio, did you know that?  I hear he's quite a catch."

Well, she did run into him.  After work, in the park.  "Ken?" She said, shocked.  "What on earth are you wearing?"

He didn't know her, at least not at first.  But strangely, he didn't pull away when she gave him a kiss goodbye.  "You'll remember me," she said.  "I promise."

I ran into someone in the park recently, myself.  That woman Agnes.  She didn't look half so bad out of her awful mourning clothes.

She challenged me to a game of soccer!

It was weird.  The more time I spent with her, the more I liked her.  We ended up talking well into the night.  Smooth-talker, I am, I said something awesome like, "Uh ... I ... uhh ... think I like you."

She didn't seem to mind.

I invited her to come along to my parents' wedding on Leisure Day the coming weekend.  They were just going to say vows in the park, no arch or cake or anything.  She agreed.

When Leisure Day rolled around, it rained, like always.  That didn't take away from the magic of vows being exchanged by lifelong lovers who'd been denied the chance in their youth.

Or for the surprise shout across the park.  "Sansa!"

She stayed calm.  "Yes?"

He didn't say anything, he just scooped her up and kissed her, hard.

"Do you remember, Kenny?" I shouted from my vantage point.  My parents turned, hands entwined to watch.

He laughed a little, tears starting at the corners of his eyes.  "I do," He choked.  "I remember."

The Proposal
« Reply #85 on: December 05, 2012, 09:12:46 PM »
I invited Agnes over last night.  I was jumpy and nervous all day.  Rhaella is still pretty much my best friend, so I'm pretty sure she was onto me.  If I wasn't sure, it became clear when she FOLLOWED ME OUTSIDE for my VERY PRIVATE moment.

"Ah, yess," she said.  "Is it proposal time?  I LOVE PROPOSAL TIME!"

I did my best to ignore her, but I could see Aggie attempting not to laugh.

"Uh, Aggs, uh..."

"I KNEW IT!"

"Hush, Rhaella!  Agnes.  Listen.  I think we're awesome together.  Would you be interested in maybe ... like ... marrying me?"

Agnes bit her lip.  "You are just too smooth."

"Don't I know it, doll."

"Of course I will!"

"Knew it."

"You guys are too cute.  I'll be inside.  Bran - we need to talk purchases, so get your rear in the kitchen after you kiss the poor girl.  Welcome to the family, Agnes."

I gathered Agnes in my arms and kissed her.  "You should go ahead and move in, you know," I whispered.

She giggled.  "I'll pack my bags tonight."

I nodded behind her.  "We have a visitor."

"Oh, Bran," she breathed.  "It's beautiful."

I backed away and went inside to watch with Rhaella from a window.  We didn't want to spook it.  Agnes, however, stood perfectly still, as though to watch it, and it approached her all on its own.

She has a radiant smile, my Aggie.  She held out her hand to feed it some dried apple and whispered something to it.  Call me crazy but it seemed to whisper back.

Later, I'd ask her what they talked about.  She wouldn't tell me.  Instead she just insists the unicorn told her she needed a makeover something fierce.  So that's what she got.

She's radiant, isn't she?  No telling why she was so buttoned up before with that horrible hair.  While our engagement seemed to have been blessed by the unicorn, Agnes's first night in our home was a weird one.  She claims she saw some bright lights outside.

When a ship (?!) appeared in the sky, my girl tried to run for it.

Alas, she was not fast enough.  She showed up back home a few hours later fairly ticked off with a bald green woman who was with her.

She won't talk about what happened up there, but from what I understand, alien cooking is horrible.

Anyway, after that little speed bump, things adjusted into shared home life fairly well.  I pushed Sansa to go make it official with Ken so we could have a nice, frugal double wedding.  She happily obliged.

"Ken," she whispered tenderly.  "If you put our children in turbans, I will divorce you so hard."

I tried to spend as much time as possible with the OTHER woman in my life.  You know, my first best girl.

"Listen, Aggie," I say.  "Summer is very jealous and suspicious of you.  She's barely eating."

"Yes, she looks completely miserable," my love answers dryly.

Mom suggests that Summer actually has a bit of a crush on Aggie and isn't driven to insane jealousy.  That's obviously crazytalk, though.

Right?

"Summer," I whispered.  "You do know it's not you I'm marrying?  I'm so, so sorry."

I could overhear Agnes telling her sister, in a hug, that I'm not insane and to excuse my antics with the dog.

Rhaella set up a wedding area outside.  I told her that was a risky idea, but she shouted at me that IT'S TRADITIONAL and did it anyway.

So, as predicted, it started raining.  Hard.  Rhaella, however, wasn't deterred.  She walked outside and whipped a giant machine out of her pocket.

My mother watched curiously, but not with any degree of surprise.  Rhaella then shot a beam into the sky and the rain stopped.  I swear to the Watcher that is true.  Maybe I should stop doubting Aggie's alien story...

Anyway, soon it was time.  I couldn't take my eyes off of Aggie.  I'd never seen someone so beautiful.

"Last chance to run away," I said.

"Oh, you're right.  Where's the car!" she winked.

With a goofy smile and a laugh, we exchanged vows.  Rhaella stood out in the sun smoking like a barbecue while she snapped photos.  In no time Aggie was officially mine.  I'll have to get her a doggie bed too.

My sister and the blue man were up next.

Ken mercifully left off the turban for the vows.

My sister done did put a ring on it.

And then I realized for the first time that she'd be moving out.  It kind of felt like a punch in the sternum.  Sansa is an irritating whelp, but she is my twin, and I'm gonna miss her.  She seems so happy, though.

She and Kenny took off pretty soon after the vows, presumably to sit chastely next to each other and hold hands.  Mom and Aggie sat and talked about future decor.  They apparently think the way I did the interior of the new house is a bit boring.

Once I was able to pull her away, however ...

And, you know ...

That's not our room.  I don't know why we were in there.  It's our guest room, however a popular room for cuddling.  Mom and Dad had been in there a few hours prior, though obviously they are too old to EVER WOOHOO AGAIN.

I finally understand that helpless, totally happy look in Dad's eyes, though.

I keep staring at this family's eyes. That is such a beautiful bright blue...teal.../not good with color names but it's a really nice color.

Congrats on the double wedding! I hope from Sansa's side there are plenty of Genieboos :)

It's the imaginary friend eyes.  I was so happy one of the kids inherited them from Gendry.  Here's hoping they last a few generations, as Bran is only the halfway point!

And I'm keeping a VERY close eye on Sansa.  Here's hoping that story progression will give her a baby now that we've moved.

Speaking of which, Christopher Steele and Zelda Mae had a baby boy that they've named Brandy for some unfathomable reason.  I'm tempted to turn cheats on, grab the kid in CAS, and give him a normal name.
