Sims Protesting?

So I was playing in Sunset Valley the other day, visiting the central park for the fall festival and I noticed a bunch of sims with signs protesting outside the city hall! I hadn't noticed this happen before (I don't play sims all that much but recently alot more) and their signs had like burglar masks on them! There was even two police people standing there with signs!! Maybe they aren't getting paid enough?? I wondered if my sim could join them but I couldn't figure that out!! Does this happen all the time?? I did take some snapshots, haven't figured out how to upload here yet...

Yes, those protests pop up every so often. I've seen them protesting various things like science and law enforcement. If my memory serves me right, you can join the protests by clicking on the City Hall itself. (There's a way to join in, but I'm not entirely sure how)

This doesn't see to happen very often. But a picture of protesters needed for one of the Photography Challenges and can be hard to get. It's part of the Everyday Moments collection and is called a Political Demonstration.
I'm not sure I've even seen it in any town except Sunset Valley. It probably happens elsewhere and I've just missed it when it was going on.

I've seen it in Twinbrooks as well as Sunset Valley so I'm sure it happens in all the towns, and I'm almost 100%  sure you click on city hall to "join protest".

Riverview residents must be fairly angry as they protest quite a bit, about the ones already mentioned but also about stuff like unicorns and clowns. And yes you do click city hall to join in.

I've noticed that a lot of the time in Riverview protests seem to be started by a service npc, they usually spawn in four bridges park across from city hall then after a bit will wander over and get out a placard. And it's mostly on the weekends as well.

I thought I was the only one! 95% of my protests happen in Riverview, but that doesn't mean they don't happen elsewhere. It should happen in every town. I also confirm that to join in protests you click on the City Hall.

There's a 15% chance for a protest to occur that's rolled at 10AM on weekends. Basically, here's a breakdown of the odds per weekend:

Odds of occurring on Saturday, but not Sunday: 12.75%
Odds of occurring on Sunday, but not Saturday: 12.75%
Odds of occurring on Saturday and Sunday: 2.25%
Odds of not occurring at all: 72.25%

It only lasts for eight hours, so check between 10AM and 6PM.

Cheers, I'll have to keep an eye out as I've never seen a protest either. (Which probably isn't surprising, given how much of a slavedriver I am and how quickly a Sim-day passes.)

I don't know if it is coincidence, but I've seen it most of the time when I start a new game, on the first day.

I think there's something wrong with protests in Appaloosa Plains. There is the option to "join protest" at the city hall sometimes, but you can't join the protest and there aren't any people gathering outside. Could it be because it's a combined rabbit hole?

Have never seen a protest in Bridgeport. Guess everyone sleeps in due to hanging out late in the bars and dance clubs.

Have seen many, before, in Sunset Valley though.

You don't know frequent protests until you play in Union Cove.

Sorry to everyone on the forum since the people of UC are pretty much us, but it really makes me question the government of that place!
