Poor Chysm. Her new life certainly isn't starting out easy, but I'm glad the baby got that pretty shade of Dorren's. And wow, pregnant superhero maternity wear: what a trend!

Well, when you send a socially awkward loner out to start a legacy, "easy" probably won't be happening, but things got extra rough with the unexpectedly short lifespan of Dorren.  Three kids on her own and a single income from a rabbit hole job.  Chysm's a survivor.
And yes.  Superhero maternity wear is the coolest and best idea EVER.

The Schlick-Wainwright Legacy--Teach Your Children Well
« Reply #92 on: January 20, 2014, 11:48:03 AM »

Having suffered a tremendous loss, an agonizing blow to the emotions, a twist of fate's dagger in her heart, our heroic founder determines to pull herself together and...
Pippin:  I think that's enough narration for now.  How are you holding up, Chysm?

Chysm:  Honestly?  I'm too busy to be upset most of the time.  The hardest part is when I tend to the plants.
Pippin:  The plants?

Chysm:  His plants.
Pippin:  Oh.  Gotcha.  Sorry.
Chysm:  My real saving grace in all of this has been Ryan.

Chysm:  He's a fantastic sitter, the kids adore him, and he even sticks around after his scheduled babysitting times to help out some more.
Pippin:  Umm, you don't suppose that impressionable young man has a crush on you, do you?

Chysm:  Stop being ridiculous, Pippin!  Now excuse me while I potty train my little redhead.
Ryan:  Umm, are you talking to me?
Chysm:  Oh, uh, yes.  I was just saying how much I like your red shoes.
Pippin:  Nice recovery.

The kids continued to learn, to grow, and to develop.

Chysm:  Can you say, "Dinosaur?"
Tipton:  Can you be a bit more specific as to which variety of dinosaur you'd prefer?
Pippin:  Oh yes, he's a genius, isn't he?

Chysm:  Okay, let's go for a walk, Lucien OW!  Oh well, if you're not light on your own feet, at least you're light on mine.
Lucien:  Oooo, pretty feet!
Chysm:  Oh, thank you, baby.
Pippin:  Eh, it's not that much of a compliment.  He's easily impressed.  And of course, little Arienne is simply taking great joy every time her brothers cry.  Gotta love evil babies.

It seems as though the fates are conspiring to ensure potential mates for the eventual heir.  The term "fates" may here be interpreted as "The Dolans."

Pippin:  Well, Chysm, it looks like the Dolans have matched you pretty well.  They had a single girl from their first pregnancy, and then a twin of each gender in their second go-round.  Let's go check out their house and then play matchmakers for your kids!
Chysm:  You will not pressure my children into marriages for your convenience, Pippin.
Pippin:  What?  That is not what I as doing at all.  I just thought we'd...introduce them.  And then, if they fell in love, that would be convenient...for me.

Dorran:  Hello, Tippy.  I told you I'd come visit when I could, and the full moon seems to be that time.
Tipton:  So we can anticipate a patriarchal presence based upon the lunar cycle?
Dorran:  ...how old are you again?

Dorran:  And look at how beautiful my baby girl is.
Chysm:  Yep.  Good thing she got her looks from her mother.
Dorran:  That's enough from you, smart mouth.
Chysm:  Well then come in here and snuggle with your wife.

Dorran:  Okay, but just snuggling, right?
Chysm:  Right.

Sadly, Dorran could not stick around for the glorious occasion that was on the near horizon.

Pippin:  Oh, look!  It seems possible little baby Arienne might have actually gotten her looks from Dorren...unfortunately.
Chysm:  Hey!  That's my husband you're talking about.
Pippin:  Actually, I'm talking about your recently aged-up baby.  You know, baby Todd has aged up.  Let's go see if he's as...unique-looking as your little angel.

Pippin:  Oh look, she gave birth to a scrawny, bald elf.
Chysm:  Be nice!
Ezzy:  I'm sorry, what?
Chysm:  Umm, I said...it'd be nice...to get him some red shoes.  They'd bring out his eyes.
Ezzy:  Excuse me?
Chysm:  Oh, I'd better get home and check in on the babysitter.

But young Ezabeth was not the only sister who found herself receiving some quality time with our socially awkward founder.

Amella:  Okay, you kids have fun with your little music thing.
Chysm:  But, you agreed to join my band.
Amella:  I never said I actually play an instrument!

Chysm:  Guess it's just you and me, Berucca.
Berucca:  Pronouns!!!

And for those of you noticing that another sister did not show up, she was busy receiving a text message from Chysm's archrival and boss, Sioban.

Hey Dulci!  Aaron and I are expecting!  he made a big point of how exciting it would be to be a father for the first time and mentioned how he doesn't have any other kids.  Wonder what that's about.

Pippin:  So, Chysm, I have some news about Aaron...
Chysm:  Well, I think this news is more important.

Pippin:  Hey, little Lucien's getting all grown up!  What about Tipton?

Tipton:  My shirt appears to be releasing the Kraken.  May I safely assume it is time for the mandatory, and much needed, makeover?
Lucien:  Stop asking, Tip.  Just get to the dresser!

Tipton:  I believe I have the striking appearance of a young Harold Potter.
Lucien:  Okay, then why don't you go hang out with cousin Todd?  He looks like Dobby.
Pippin:  Let's try to stay focused on this story, boys.
Tipton:  You hear the disembodied voice too, right?
Lucien:  Nah, you're just losing that precious mind of yours.
Pippin:  Chysm, isn't it your birthday too?  Chysm?  Oh wait, wasn't she headed to work?

Chysm:  Oh good, I still look the same.
Pippin:  Yeah, except it eliminated your cool career outfit and gave you this default one.
Chysm:  It's all good as long as I'm not wearing a riding cap.
Pippin:  Well, why don't you just head home for the rest of your birthday.  I think your kids might need you.

Tipton: Mother!  Young Arienne is causing me tremendous vexation in the spirit!
Pippin:  Arie, why would you do that to your poor brother?
Arienne:  Fun.

And thus, we leave our young heroine and her trio of potential successors to settle into their new ages, and hopefully, to learn to get along.

LOL those sure sound a lot like denial.  ;D ;D ;D

Wonder what those kids would grown up into, considering their mother and the weird upbringing...
And have I told you that I think Chysm is into the babysitter? hmm I'm sure she is. (by the way, now that I kept mentioning her name, I do realize anytime I spelled out her name I immediately thought of 'cyst')

"Cyst?"  Ooo, poor Chysm.
The kids are definitely growing into unique little characters, but not in a bad way.  Chysm is still into her husband, realistically, so I can't necessarily say the babysitter really stands much of a chance...maybe.  He's still just a teen, so they can't really be into each other anyway.

Clone face.  Well said.  Realistically, Chysm's allowed to be into whomever she chooses, but she and ghostDorren still register as "engaged" (even though they were actually married) and their relationship bar is still maxed.  I don't anticipate her running off to find a new guy anytime soon.  Realistically, with all her social dysfunction, she can barely stay friends with her own siblings  :=/

I think the most depressing part of that line is that's how all of my Sims are.
Even when they live in the same house. Haha. Maybe I'M the one with social dysfunction that's so bad it rubs off onto my sims!  ;D

The Schlick-Wainwright Legacy--Everybody Want to Rule the World
« Reply #99 on: January 25, 2014, 12:41:34 PM »

Though our dear founder's husband may be nothing more than ectoplasmic residue, her siblings and parents are still very alive and very present.

Lucien:  Umm, grandpa?  Why are you glowing red and looking kind of like a demon?
Vlad: Oh, umm, no reason.  I'll just take my laptop and go.
(Voice in the background):  But that's my laptop!
Pippin:  Okay, Lucien, ignore your grandfather becoming the Emporer of Evil.  Let's focus in on why I had you come here.

Lucien:  Hello, Sheila.  I'm Lucien.  I love your purple hair.  Purple's my favorite color.
Sheila:  Really?
Lucien:  No, it's not, but for your sake, sure it is!
Pippin:  Well played...I guess.
Chysm:  Pippin!

Pippin:  Yes, Chysm?
Chysm:  You aren't forcing my boys to find potential spouses while I'm distracted with Arienne's toddler skills are you?
Pippin:  What?  Me?  Do such a thing?  Of course not.  It hurts that you'd even insinuate such a thing.  I'm merely helping the boys become more familiar with their home town.
Chysm:  Okay then.  As long as you remember that I'm in charge of their upbringing.
Pippin:  But of course!  Well, I'd best head back to the park and see how Tipton's doing.

Pippin:  Tipton, I thought I said meet girls.
Tipton:  Well, teens are technically not yet adults, so these are "girls."

Pippin:  Okay, that might be true, but these girls will age up quite a while before you and will most likely already be in relationships when you age up.
Tipton:  Perhaps, but they also have something girls my age don't have.
Pippin:  Umm, I'm almost afraid to ask, but what might that be?

Tipton:  Physics textbooks!  We're having a study date later.
Pippin:  Tippy, you party animal.  I wonder how Lucien's doing.

Lucien:  And to quote one of my favorite poets, "You are my sunshine.  My only sunshine.  You make me happy, when skies are grey."
Cara:  Wow, that's so beautiful.
Lucien:  I know, right?  I wrote that myself.
Cara:  You said it was by one of your favorite poets.
Lucien:  Yes.  I dd.  I am one of my own favorite poets.
Pippin:  Wow, that's much better than the red shoes line your mom uses.  You're also better at spending time with the ladies than your brother.  He took that phrase to indicate he should spend time with his aunts.

Tipton:  And so you see, the reason they don't have the lights on is so that the paint on these ancient masterpieces does not fade and erode.
Amella:  That's really fascinating!
Ezzy:  Hey, I'm just here so I have an excuse to make mom babysit, so can we cut all his high IQ nonsense and just go for ice cream?

But while the boys were finishing up their quality time with their respective interpretations of "ladies," our central lady figure was having quality time of her own.

Dorren:  Gotcha!  See?  Instead of taking you to bed, I'm taking the bed to you!

Chysm:  Back atcha, ghostboy!

The next day found the boys attending Drake School of Life and Learning.

Pippin:  Well, they weren't the only young boys who were significant that day.

Lucien:  I sense a disturbance in the Force!
Tipton:  That just your relationship panel recognizing the birth of our half-brother.
Lucien:  Half-brother?  How is that possible?
Tipton:  Sadly, I don't believe we cover biology nor relationships until our high school years, so you'll just have to wait for those answers.
Pippin:  I've subtly prompted a young lady to come home with you, Lucien.
Lucie:  Score!
Pippin:  Would you like me to do the same for you, Tipton?
Tipton:  No thanks.  I'm planning to better myself through new experiences by joining the after-school athletics club.
Pippin:  Athletics club?
Lucien:  He means ballet.  Oh!  School's out!!

Lucien:  So, this is my house, Renae.  What do you want to do first?
Renae:  Homework.

Pippin:  This would be one of those Dolan kids.  She's a keeper, eh Lucien?
Lucien:  She just might be.
Renae: I'm sorry, what?
Lucien:  Oh, umm, red shoes?

And in the world of Dragon Valley romance, Berucca has hooked up with this old guy...whose name I didn't write down...

But a day filled with half-brother births, school and learning, a date turned homework session, and a genius dancing ballet came to a close.  The next day brought school for our young men once again.
Lucien:  Come on, Tipton!  I want to walk Renae to school.  Oh, and you can walk her sister.
Tipton:  Ah, I've attained wingman status.

Angie:  Hmm, you must be Tipton.  My sister did mention that you had the look a young Harold Potter.
Tipton:  Oh...well...yes.  Yes I do.  And may I say you look like you stepped right out of a table-top role-playing game.
Angie:  Thanks.  I think?

And while these ladies may prove to be important parts of the future of this storyline, a couple of other female characters contributed significant news to this update.
Pippin:  Dulcinea has announced that she is pregnant!

Pippin:  The father is Mason Sackholme, who briefly married someone else, but then had a falling out, got back together with Dulci, moved in with her, and now they expect a child.  However, another Schlick-Wainwright daughter had some child news.  Specifically, Chysm's youngest was finally aging up to child.

Arienne:  Pippin!  What did you do to my hair?
Pippin:  It's just a glitch.  I can fix it.
Arienne:  No, I meant I wanted to learn how to do it so I could torment my brothers.
Pippin:  ...anyway, let's go do your age-up makeover.

Arienne:  Well, I've aged up and changed clothes.  Can I go take over the world now?
Pippin: Well, maybe you should at least finish elementary school first?
Arienne:  Hmm, school.  A nice place to meet impressionable young people and bend them to my will.  I like how you think, Pippin.
Pippin:  Umm, than you?  And may I mention how scared I am for Dragon Valley?
Arienne:  As well you should be.

And so, with budding childhood relationships, a founder who no longer has to each toddler skills, and the potential overthrow of Dragon Valley's government, we bid the family goodnight.

"I thought you said it was by your favorite poet?"
"I am my favorite poet."

^ Confidence level 1000000.
I also find Arienne striking. Most of the time children (like infants) have the same facial features, so I'm always drawn to children who look a little different. I love the boys' personalities, they're so sweet and endearing... while reminding me so strongly of their mother.

Well, he just started dreaming about it.  Crazy kid!
The girl Tipton was talking to is Felisha O'Connell-Cromos.  She's a schoolmate he met, but that call's the only interaction they've had.

Yep, Lucien's my smooth-talker  :=)  I'm playing the easily impressed as in he understands how to also be impressive.  Kind of.
I'm glad you enjoy the boys and I agree that Arienne is striking.  I'm finding myself deliberately staging shots of her just because she's so cool-looking.  Thanks for sharing my enjoyment of her  :=)

The boy and their different takes on 'spending time with the ladies' are hilarious.  ;D Looks like Arienne is going to be quite the trouble maker.

Well, as silly as it may sound, I'm partially motivated to get them socializing with the ladies quickly as story progression seems to play matchmaker fairly ambitiously and I want to make sure the boys have options when they hit teen and young adult.  However, the child-age girls always seemed to have left by the time I had Tipton sow up anywhere, so I just rolled with it.
Arienne as trouble maker.  Yes.  I certainly hope so  :=)
