I'm not that fond of parties myself, either in S3 or S4. I'll probably get it though. Can't seem to help myself :P

I feel like I am letting the side down I only have the base game and get to work. Maybe the 12 step program made me realise that I don't need 37 different hair dos.

That made me giggle playalot.  I would be happy with just 1 way to stop my sim wandering off in the middle of a task to have a conversation with a table.

I have to say that I am underwhelmed.  When I look at the key features I can't help but think that there are only three things in this EP.  A new neighborhood, an island and a closet.  I have heard that the EP is still being tweaked so maybe over the next few months they can change my mind.  I don't see a lot of replay value so far.

New Expansion coming out: Get Together

I don't know if this is the best place to post an expansion pack update announcement thread but I just got a link from one of my podcasts(which isn't Sims related) that directed me to a video on EA's newest expansion pack, called Get Together. It's supposedly a pack with a new neighborhood called Windenburg which has ruins, a beach and a hedge maze and you can set up outings or dates there - the entire pack is based on outings and parties and there are two new skills - Dancing and DJing. They even brought back the DJ Booth!

Here is the link to the official site for product details: http://www.thesims.com/store/expansion-packs/get-together

If this is the wrong place, then feel free to move this post. Sorry.  :(
I play The Sims 4 for fun, so I don't care if I never end up being interviewed for the Dynasty Hall of Fame; people who play for keeps burn out too easily and don't enjoy playing the games, so I am going to not sweat the details.

Hopefully we get a lot of substance in this one, although from the trailer I'm (hopefully) seeing a new Dance skill? Would be awesome that our sims absolutely suck at dancing at first and get better as they practice, I mean it only makes sense that they would do that.

I think they started too well with Get to Work.  There was so much to offer for that EP, so with what they've put up so far, this seems to be underwhelming.  While the content looks cool (the island, a new world, and the closet do sound fun), I hope they do add a bit more to it as time goes on.

I think the Sims 4 Get Together looks really good and I am going to buy it for sure, but I personally think that there are better things that they could create at this point in time.

@marquisdiamonds yep dance skill is confirmed, as is djing skill. New traits and an aspiration is also confirmed. Don't know if they relate to dancing or djing though.

Today Sim Guru Lindsay confirmed, on Twitter, that there will be no new emotions or life states in Get Together.

I added this to the news just now, in order to help more people discover the little bits of info you guys have gathered. Now that I've got to look at it, I feel silly for thinking it's late night all over again. Getting to customize the clubs themselves should make this quite different. I'm wondering about things like astronomy or chess clubs, as opposed to the obvious 'dance club' idea that first came to mind.

Lack of new emotions/life states is kind of disappointing, but at least they are finally adding some traits...

I've picked up a couple of items from the tweets from Lyndsay Pearson over on Simsvip:

Our sims will be able to live in Windenburg.
There will be a 64x64 lot.
Apparently you can group several sims with your sim and have them all do the same thing -- like a dance routine. You can also decide what people in your group will wear.
Children and teens can form clubs.
Children can play in the closet.

Oh, that's good!  Thanks Marian ^^  That makes me feel a bit better.  A new world to live in is always nice.

A few more bits of info:

Windenburg is as large as the Worlds of WillowCreek and Oasis Springs.
If you own GTW then you can own and run a cafe with the new expresso machine which makes drinks that effects sims moods.
Your sim can be in up to 3 different clubs but only one will be active at a time.

*edited: Just some thoughts on how this new club interaction seems to work. It seems that clubs can rival each other opening all sorts of possibilities up. As you are able to choose the activities you could have your sims do anything from playing video games to cooking to making scientific serums I guess. One of the gurus talked about a club that had two activities that they did; chess and woohoo. (We knew that would happen, right. Still it's the possibilities to make what you want that sounds fun.) Maybe as other game play features are added in the future, like maybe supernatural, you could have a vampire club where your sims go around causing havoc! It seems like the club system is really going to add a lot of game play to The Sims 4. More then the initial intro video let on!
