Sims 3 and Sims 4 Compatibility

I have the Sims 4 on my computer, downloaded with origin. Can I buy the Sims 3 or would that break my Sims 4 by overriding the files?
HELP!!!!

Sims 3 and Sims 4 are quite separate games. I have both installed on my computer, and both work without any trouble. Welcome to the forum!

They're separate games and shouldn't interfere with each other.

That said, Sims 3 uses a lot more memory, and on high settings, will need a better graphics card than Sims 4, even though it's an older game.  Especially if you have multiple expansion packs.
