Patient and Perpetrator

Your two Sims have equally strong ambitions -- to succeed as a doctor and as a detective. One wants to diagnose and treat patients; the other wants to investigate crimes and imprison perpetrators.

Goal
Juggle your Sims' schedules so as to produce the largest household income, modified by points for patients treated and perpetrators jailed.

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules

• Create two Young Adults (Alien or Human is fine).
• You are allowed to use the Buydebug cheat for the sole purpose of purchasing a satellite to prevent abductions.
• No adding to the household.
• No moving allowed.
• Can only make money from the Doctor and Detective careers, and selling any associated rewards with those two careers. If you purchase the Connections reward you cannot sell any rewards obtained at lvl 1-3. Also, remember not to sell furniture, etc.
• This challenge ends when your Sims turn Elder. IMPORTANT: Remember to play your file on Short life span.

Scoring

Household Funds — When your Sim turns Elder, pause your game and note your Household Funds in the bottom left of the game.

P & P — Patients and Perpetrators. This is a multiplier for your Household Income. Everyone starts with a 1.00 P & P multiplier, and for every patient diagnosed and treated add .05 to your multiplier. For every perpetrator jailed add .10 to the multiplier. In the doctor career, interactions through the desk (House Calls, Assessing Collapsed Patient, etc.) do not count.

Total — Take your Household Income and multiply it by the P & P to get your Total.

Ch-Ch-Changes
The team does not want to edit and make changes to the ruleset once this event goes live, but we may have to. If an exploit is brought to our attention or we discover something else we reserve the right to ask affected players to redo their effort.

Please think hard before you ask in the challenge thread because it may be strategy. What you may consider an innocent question could cause another player to go — “oh, I did not think of doing that.” It’s always safer to PM everyone on the team (Metro, ratchie, Nutella, LenaLJ, Trip, and MarianT) for clarifications. Is this also (like the party challenge) meant to be played on short lifespan or is this one normal lifespan?

All the challenges this year will be on short lifespan unless the rules say otherwise.

Have you taken into consideration the Detective career is severely messed up?  It often corrupts files.  Check with Crinricht's info for details.

@oshizu told us that she had problems with the Detective career in her legacy because it was a large multi-generational file, but she she tried the career in a new game, it was fine. It should be okay in a fairly short challenge (about 3 Sim weeks), but of course if people start having problems, they'll be able to start a new file.

This should be an interesting challenge. I have played a detective sim zero times, even though I've had get to work since the day it came out  . Going off to figure out the career now before I practice the two sims together

I wanted to draw players' attention to remember to not sell furniture since income is restricted in this one:

I assume there is no restriction on aspirations and trait?

I am new here and I just want to make sure I got it right, is aspiration rewards allowed? ALL of them?

Welcome to the forum, @Isabelalabe! I just checked the General Challenge Rules, and yes, aspiration rewards are allowed this year. You can choose any traits you want, too.

Sorry for another change , but due to the Connections reward bug the team needed to modify the following:

• Can only make money from the Doctor and Detective careers, and selling any associated rewards with those two careers IF they were not obtained via the Connections reward. If you purchase the Connections reward you cannot sell any rewards obtained at lvl 1-3. Also, remember not to sell furniture, etc.
