Cant age up sims

For some reason everytime my sim makes a cake it appears that the interaction gets cancelled and she puts it directly into the fridge not on the counter. I then pull it out and put it on the counter and theres no option to add candles or celebrate. I used it before to age up my child sim but now its not working. Is there another way to age up? I play on a long cycle and Im not to excited for a teen to age up in 40 sim days...

You may want to try resetsim or evict the household and move them back in to reset them.

Something may have glitched along the way to make the cake not work as it's supposed to.
