Omni plants and forbidden fruit
« on: August 29, 2018, 05:06:50 PM »
Hello.

I have been playing the Sims since it was first introduced back almost 10 years ago.  I have had my Sim characters do a lot of different skills, including gardening.  I find this to be a really fun skill, whether it is done as self-employment or just a side skill.  However, I have never grown omni plants or forbidden fruit.  I've never gotten the option to do so.  I've grown different special plants as well as eggs and steaks.  I've even completed the gardening skill challenges (eg. botanical boss). I've read the gardening guide but nothing seems to help.  Am I missing something?  Is there a gardening link to go to here in the forum?

Thanks in advance!

I feel you might already know this, but just so we're on the same page I'll babble off some information. *Smile*

Omini plants are obtained via an opportunity, and after more can be purchased via the mailbox. Though I can't remember what gardening level you need to be to do so. Haven't played a beginner gardener for quite some time now.

Forbidden Fruit, if I remember correctly that has to do something with Science. You "splice" a couple of things together using the science research station to make a forbidden fruit seed. If I'm remembering correctly.

I only did the forbidden fruit thing once. So I don't remember all the steps.

You might be able to get more information from Carl's gardening guide:

and from the Sims Wikia -

Omni Plant seeds are acquired by completing an Opportunity, just like how you got egg, cheese, steak, and patty plants. I believe the Opportunity is a request for 10 Outstanding homegrown Steaks, and you need to be level 10 in the Gardening Skill before you'll get the call.

Forbidden Fruit you get from the Science skill. By using seeds (any seed will do) in a Gene Splicing Experiment at the Science Research Station, you have a small chance of transmuting the seed into a Forbidden Fruit seed. Unfortunately, the plant only gives you one Forbidden Fruit before going barren, so you'll need to splice more seeds if you want more than one Forbidden Fruit.
