Wow, Carmen was a good find. Though, Houda's evil trait is more comic than a real hurdle. But Keanu wouldn't want an evil sim. I'd probably have chosen Carmen. But I'm shockingly non-picky in some saves. It's "oh, he needs a girl? Okay, here's a random elder who has had no life, I'll age her down. She'll do." Carmen's traits are so coincidental that she could look like Persephone and it would be worth choosing her still.

I really like the Newcest sunset with the rocket woohoo. I have no idea what world to go to next, but your house here reminds me very strongly of a house I never really finished or played in. Hmm.

The final days of teens trying to get the good character traits can be full of jeopardy. I feel the tension.

Geez. Turn my back for two months and you nearly finish the challenge! (Just kidding, of course.) I'm now all caught up and wow, I love all of your heirs and spouses. Spoiler alert: My next heir shares a name with one of your heirs. Hint: It isn't Kahlua. ;)

@Heart Foam
We could have lived with an Evil sim and dealt with Houda's "lesser genes"  as well.
But Carmen having both red hair and the Cat Lover trait is just too much of a coincidence. The Insider trait has zero impact on gameplay, it seems to me.
Ugh, Devin with his constant "Ask for advice" was so annoying!
Really? A name like Keanu and you couldn't guess where he'd be moving? :)

@reggikko
The Pries dynasty still has four generations of requirements to complete. That is hardly "nearly finished," haha.
I'm sure you'll catch up in no time.
As for your next heir's name, I didn't consider that until too late. None of my remaining heirs' name go with San or Santa, though, so I think we're safe. :)

@oshizu Oh, I was thinking out loud about my own trivial dynasty thing. Sulani is a spectacularly pretty world. I definitely associated Keanu with Sulani, and even with Canoe Reefs. I've had a phone call chance card force a teen to take a hit to a trait while in school, age bar bubbling, leave school early -- do homework to recover lost responsibility from leaving early -- then volunteer or whatever. When teens clearly have such great character... can't they stop asking for advice?!

I think insiders might get tense if they haven't been in a club gathering for a while.

Power of 10 - 7.34: Starting Out in Sulani (12 Dec update)

7.34: Starting Out in Sulani

Saturday, Week 36

Keanu: Now that Carmen's moved in, we got some stuff to do, Mocha. Later!
Mocha: Really? All that cash and you just throw my stuff on the sand?
Keanu: But Carmen and I have so much stuff to get done!
Mocha: Oh please, just build something basic for now.

Keanu: Happy now? No windows yet, though.
Mocha: This will do. Thanks for putting my stuff inside.

Keanu: Don't go falling off the lanai in back!
I'll get it fenced up before the little ones are born.
Mocha: You already filled my food thingy, so I'm all set.

Carmen and I start on Soulmates at Desert Bloom Park.
In the middle of our second date, we notice the park's swarming with kids!

Might as well introduce ourselves real quick, right?
Salome Pineda and Ellie Crum both have desirable traits.

All six kids have black hair. What's up with that?
Cory Connolly and Juan Esteban are both evil.
But Jonathan Villanueva and Adrian Castillo have good traits.

Also, our simverse seems to favor Latinx kids. We don't mind at all.

At the Gardens of Lost Healing…
Carmen: I wish you would have proposed to me instead.
Keanu: Watcher probably figures I'm more desperate to get married and less likely to refuse.
Carmen: Oh yeah, I get that.
Being a lonely spinster selling supplies in Selvadorada trumps marrying you any day. *rolls eyes
Keanu: Love the ring, by the way.

Carmen: Seriously, though, I'm glad you chose me.
Keanu: We're going to have an amazing life together!

Carmen: Connections?
Keanu: Right!
Carmen: Hey, can we dress like this all the time?
Keanu: I'm not sure. Let's check later after we're done with all our errands.
Aren't these our party outfits?
Carmen: Well, I'm game if you are!

Sunday, Week 37

What luck! We arrive in San Myshuno's Art Quarters so Carmen can buy produce.
There's a vendor nearby who sells me a complete collection of snow globes!

Carmen: Are you sure we should be here, Keanu?
Keanu: Watcher adds a brand-new world and we're not allowed to visit? No way!
Carmen: Well, I must confess that I'm profoundly curious.

Carmen: Keanu tells me that we should both become spellcasters.
Okay. That's easy for him to say with his maxed charisma!

Keanu easily befriends all three sages and starts learning potions and spells left and right.
He is especially buddy-buddy with that Morgyn Ember, who even teaches him magic.

On the other hand, I struggle to get close to the sages.
All three reject my many requests for magical guidance. *sighs

The other two sages are unemployed, but Simeon has a part-time retail job. How bizarre!

At last, I manage to befriend Simeon and learn a little from him.
To add insult to injury, Keanu has the option to become BFFs with Morgyn.

Keanu (whispers): How cool would that be if Morgyn were my BFF?
But Carmen would blow a fuse, so Morgyn and I are just good friends.

Keanu: On Tuesday, I bring home my second promotion and branch to Marine Biologist.
And I got a notice that the environment of Mua Pel'am is improving as well!

Carmen perhaps needs to start using sunblock when she's outdoors.
While giving a fertility massage, I notice that her back and legs appear quite dark.
Mocha: I swear she hasn't been sunbathing while you're at work!

Carmen goes into labor in the middle of a second fertility massage.
Twin girls, just as we'd hoped!
Incidentally, my mother Kahlua also had twin girls recently.

That time we spent in the Magical Realm has left us a bit behind.
Every Pries garden so far has had a dozen dragon fruit plants.
Ours only has eight so far.

On Thursday, I work from home so I can learn how to complete my daily tasks.
Takes me awhile to figure out how to "Patrol the ocean near Mua Pel'am."
"Survey ocean wildlife" was a bit tricky, too.. (Yes, I had to google them both.)

I even buy a cauldron and do a little experimenting.
But magic is definitely not my thing.
Carmen and I only wanted to give the girls a little magical boost.

Their birthday notices arrive that night.
As toddlers, they're identical twins and they're both spellcasters.

My trio of beautiful girls.
I gave Bianca big hair like her mother, so I can tell the twins apart at a glance.

My great-grandpa Camilio passed away recently and I didn't even get notified.
In fact, he's vanished from my relationship panel (but not my family tree).

After picking up Great-Grandpa's urn, we stop by the vet clinic.
Mocha aged up to an elder this morning.

Great-Grandma Beatriz and Great-Grandpa Camilio are finally reunited!

Whew! That was a busy week and we still lack two more dragon fruit plants.
I know the twins just became toddlers, but I can't wait to see what they look like as children.
Next, we will (seem them as children, that is)!

Keanu's move-out requirements: 2/10
     1. Career: Marine Biologist 8 (Fisheries Specialist)
     2. Unique skill: DJ Mixing 3
✔️ 3. Earned 10k satisfaction points: yes
✔️ 4. Earned $10,000: yes
     5. 5/10 good friends (including 2/2 non-human)
     6. 5/10 odd jobs
     7. 0/10 parties
     8. 8/10 emotional whims
     9. 5/10 community lots for min. 2 hrs each
   10. 0/10-item collection: Buried treasures?

Watcher's Remarks
*Neither Keanu and his heir will be going all out with spells and potions.
It's too much extra work, considering each house/household is only played for one generation.
*No idea why but my game was extremely buggy these past two days. (I blame today's patch! I only updated Sims 4 after posting this chapter.)
*This is my first time playing a sim household that lives in Sulani.
My only Sulani experience so far has been those odd jobs.  So excited to be living in Sulani!

Ooh, Realm of Magic! I find I use scrubaroo a lot. Wow, Mocha has lived through so much by now.

The open dining room is the way to go. And Carmen suits Sulani so well. And the girls are so beautiful. With all the fertility massages (and I never use them) is there a big risk of triplets?

I doubt if we'll bother much with spells and potions.
Only, I wanted the next heir to be born from spellcaster parents since she'll be moving to you-know-where eventually.
Mocha moved in during the first week of the fifth-generation, so this is his third house though it somehow feels much longer.
I love lanais--my Wonder Child house on the Dock Den lot had one years go.

About triplets, since Keanu and Camen have such great genes, I was rather hoping for triplets.
Carmen (but not Keanu) bought the Fertile trait. When she went into labor, she did not have the On Ley Line moodlet though that pink/blue crosshairs thing appeared on the floor.
She also had no Fertility Massage moodlet--I imagine Carmen dropped queues for her massages. She did it once to Keanu who gave her a second (incomplete?) massage.
Then she hired a massage therapist. Darn it!

In seven generations, I've witnessed seven twin births but only one triplets birth, all on the home lot. Founder Erwin's hospital birth resulted in a single.
Carmen's the first to buy the Fertile trait before trying for baby.
The first few days after a move-out are hectic and I sometimes forget to note the exact time of the Eating for Two message (labor is exactly 48 hrs later).
If I really want triplets, the pregnant sim gets multiple fertility massages until the massage moodlet appears.

Power of 10 - 7.35: Karma's a Beach (15 Dec update)
« Reply #234 on: December 15, 2019, 04:48:18 PM »
7.35: Karma's a Beach

Saturday, Week 37

Keanu: The twins have been a handful since they became toddlers two nights ago.
I hope you don't mind a refresher on the names.
Jaida's name slipped even my mind--I had to consult my notes.

Carmen and Bianca hold a Big Hair Convention at the bathtub.

This has been a five-day work week, from Tuesday through Saturday.
I'm happy to report that I've earned a promotion every day this week!

After work, I spend a little time with the twins. Sometimes I squeeze in an odd job.
Next,  I clean Mua Pel'am a few hours then do my daily task.

My parents have been a great help with the girls.
Thanks to them, Carmen has a little time each day for cooking.

The toddler stage is a busy time for the entire family.
Except Mocha, who feels he's not getting enough attention.
Maybe I should invite over the grandparents more for Mocha's sake.

So, yeah, all those wastebaskets represent a Pries tradition.
We save six trash-filled wastebasket for each toddler.
A scout can quickly empty six wastebaskets to earn the Good Deed badge.

Well, yeah, I guess they could pick up and drop the same pile of trash, too.
We Pries people believe that emptying trash builds character!

The shallow-water buoy for surveying ocean wildlife is so far away!
Since my Wellness is maxed, I've started skipping the canoe and teleporting instead.
It's hard to believe that I'm already a Level 9 Marine Biologist!

Sunday, Week 38

In the late afternoon, I host a toddler playdate.
My dad Kengo arrives with my younger sisters Shari (left) and Daniela.

Wow, I'm the only 7th-generation Pries with red hair!

Playing with Bianca to complete a party goal.

Taking a selfie with Grandpa Rafael.
I look a lot like him, don't you think?
Hmm, I wonder if Bianca will inherit my cleft chin?

No playdate is complete without toddler hugs!
By happy coincidence, Jaida and Daniela are wearing the same outfit.
So cute!

Yep, it's a gold-medal playdate!
I love me a toddler playdate! No toasts and no complimenting costumes!

Seiji the Cat Lover: That bad, Mocha?
Mocha: Omg, you don't know the half of it!
Seiji: But isn't Keanu's wife Carmen a cat lover?
Mocha: Hah, you could've fooled me! She hasn't even noticed my food thing need refilling!

Kahlua: What is that on the floor next to you? A baseball bat?
Keanu: Yeah, Mom. Nothing wrong with a little protective parenting, know what I'm saying?
I got two little girls to protect from all those unscrupulous boys out there!

By the way, did I tell you that my unique skill is DJ mixing?
Until I'm better at it, I'm only practicing at home for now.
But just wait until I take this show on the road!

On Tuesday, since I don't work, I throw a dinner party.
You can see that both Grandpa Rafael and Auntie Chai are elders now.
Those little boys from the park aged up to teens, so I invite them, too.

Adrian Castillo has that look our watcher loves. (Or is it dat hair?)
He's a paranoid vegetarian; our family has no problem with paranoid sims.

Jonathan Villanueva isn't as handsome, but he's a creative perfectionist.
Considering Bianca's future course, Adrian's the best option at the moment.

Wait a sec…are they too old for Bianca, though? Let's see.
*Boys: 11 days (teen) + 24 days (YA) = 35 days
*Twins: 2 days (toddlers) + 13 days (children) + 13 days (teen) = 28 days
Dang, that is a little too wonky, even for our family!

Maybe we'll meet some nice teens after the girls' become children?
(Just in case, though, I become good friends with Jonathan.…)

It's Wednesday morning, so the twins have two full days to continue skilling.
Bianca's right on course to become a top-notch toddler, I believe.
Her sister Jaida isn't too far behind.

I can't tell if the girls are just lazy or very clever.
Instead of playing in the ball pit, they repeatedly ask each family member to play.

Mocha: It's not hard to tell whenever the sims are wrapping up an age phase.
Suddenly, they have all kinds of time for yours truly.

Yesterday, Keanu and I finally became companions.
And today, I become companions with the resident cat lover. About time!

And awwww, lookie here!
I'm even friends with the next heir, li'l Miss Bianca!

Keanu: Birthday party at the Shrieking Llama Bar!
When I moved from Newcrest, Watcher added an outdoor grill here.
So, we should be able to ace this party!

I invite Morgyn and Simeon, but not the mean sage.

Bianca blows out her candles just after midnight.
Carmen has pathing issues, so I have to help Jaida age up, too.

My problem is that I can't get rid of a pesky Sulani Breeze (Playful) moodlet!

The twins remain identical, don't you think?
Bianca aged up with straight hair, while Jaida had that awful Mickey Mouse hairdo.
A quick trip to a dresser fixed that!

We were only able to earn a silver medal.
Due to my playful moodlet, I couldn't "Compliment the birthday sim" at all.
After Carmen paid her compliments to each twin, we ended up two compliments short.

It was still a great party and the twins got to meet two of the sages.

Keanu's move-out requirements: 3/10
📌 1. Unique career: Marine Biologist 9
📌 2. Unique skill: DJ Mixing 7
✔️ 3. Earned 10k satisfaction points: yes
✔️ 4. Earned $10,000: yes
📌 5. 6/10 good friends (2/2 non-human)
📌 6. 8/10 odd jobs
📌 7. 3/10 parties:
✔️ 8. 10/10 emotional whims
📌 9. 7/10 community lots for min. 2 hrs each
📌10. 0/10-item collection:

Watcher's Remarks
*I wasn't paying attention and don't know where the "Sulani Breeze" moodlet originates. Keanu occasionally gets this moodlet for "honoring the island," so I assume it's linked to his Child of the Islands trait.
I never saw this moodlet while he lived in Newcrest.
*The timing for when the game spawns NPC children and teens seems to vary with the generation.

Bianca and Jaida are so pretty! You've done well with the Pries genetics. You're such a high achiever when it comes to skills and what-not. I'm much more lazy and generally don't bother with skilling up spares and spouses any more. Great update, as usual!

Oh my goodness, Mocha is such a scene stealer!  Even in a household with multiple lovely and strong character, that cat just grabs my attention!  Love how you write him!
I'll enjoy getting to know our next heir a little more now that she's hit child age and will probably have more of a voice.  That tends to be about the time that they get more personality for me, anyway.  They tend to be lumps of adorableness that become far less of a burden once they can walk and potty on their own  ;=)
Looking forward to the next installment!

@reggikko
All sims are attractive at the toddler and child stage, I think. As for the twin girls, I'm hoping they become teens who resemble their mother who's a knockout.
Yeah, I realize my efforts to skill up spares are a waste of time. On the other hand, I love having useful spouses who can prepare ambrosia and mentor the next generation. :)

@PeregrineTook
I'm not sure what's happened to Mocha in Sulani, but he's looking a bit frumpy lately. Maybe he's put on weight? Maybe he would benefit from a recoloring? I don't know.
Toddlers are adorable but raising them are a complete chore! Thanks for reading.

I'd totally go int cas.fulleditmode to see where Mocha's sliders are.

Jaida has one of my favourite child hairdos. :) I immediately thought she should have Adrian. Similar letters in their names.

The Power of 10 rules don't allow the use of cas.fulleditmode. All I could do, really, is use Change Sim to play around with Mocha's coat.
I guess I could make him furless to see if he's gained weight.  Thank you taking my thoughts there!
