Prologue: A Seven Heroes Dynasty (6 Dec)
« Reply #1 on: December 07, 2020, 01:57:33 AM »
Prologue

Well, hello there!  I'm Hiromi Nana and I'm a high-schooler.
I could really use someone to talk with this morning. Can you hang out awhile?

I was born and raised in this villa in Mt. Komorebi's southern hood called Wakaba.
Life was great, but my parents are furious with me now!

You see, Papa's been transferred to his firm's overseas affiliate for two years.
But I refused to go with my parents.

Early this morning, my parents snuck out to the airport for their flight.
Then, a real estate agent showed up at our house with this note.

Though I grew up in Wakaba, I've always wanted to live in Senbamachi.
So I've come to Senbamachi, the traditional district of Mt. Komorebi.
I choose a lot next to the river, across the plaza from an izakaya bar.

So, first I spend $2,500 for that empty lot behind the food stall.
Meals will be a problem for me at first, since I don't know how to cook.
I figure living next to a permanent food stall and vending machine will come in handy!

My new home is also close to the local bulletin board.
It announces upcoming festivals and reports on local wildlife.
I'm looking forward to exploring all of Mt. Komorebi, without a curfew!

For example, there's a Snow Festival taking place on Saturday.
I'm not a fan of cold weather, but I definitely want to check it out.
If only to rename that "Stefani Onsen Bathhouse."
The modern Japanese language doesn't have the sound "fa"!   Hummph!

After spending roughly $7,500 on my first home, I have a little under $10k left.
Ouch!
You're probably thinking to yourself that the house looks familiar.

But this is an improved version of that other micro house.
For example, Watcher's made fewer building and purchasing mistakes.
As a result, this house costs the same but has slightly better furnishings.

I get that my parents want me with them overseas so they can look after me.
And I understand that they'll worry about how I'm doing on my own.
But I'm practically an adult already!

What if I started a Dynasty of Seven Samurai, I mean, Seven Heroes?
Will that put their mind at ease about my safety and well-being?

I carefully re-read the challenge rules. You know that my Watcher has failed twice already, right?
(Her first false start was never published.)
Hmmmm....maybe I should keep this challenge a secret from my folks until I complete my project…

We'll do better this time!  Wish us luck!

So glad to see you back on your feet and moving forward so quickly and confidently!
Hiromi is adorable and I love the subtle sass in her voice when she talks about her parents (and her Watcher for that matter).

Sorry that you had to restart, but at the same time . . . awesome that you got to restart and improve the house and share the letter and a little more background. You're off to a really great restart!

1.1. Who's Your Daddy?
« Reply #8 on: December 08, 2020, 04:46:27 PM »
1.1.  Who's Your Daddy?

Week 1, Sunday
Oh! Two tasks I need to handle before I forget: scouting sign-up and tomorrow's holiday!

Now, how shall I spend the rest of the very first day of my new life?
My priorities are scouting badges and requirements. I'll save character values until last.

While hunting frogs and other collectibles at Desert Bloom Park, I meet Abbie McCrary.
She agrees to mentor me when I  invite her along  to Magnolia Promenade for fishing.

Monday
My future project will be growing 7 perfect fruits, herbs, and vegetables each.
So I've scheduled a Gnomefest for today to get plants for the garden and gift-giving.
I appease the gnomes with their favorites then leave them to zip around the lot as they please.

Meanwhile, I craft pots and planters for my soon-to-be garden.
Now that I've reached Handiness 7, I plan to learn how to craft camping mascots, too.

Not bad, right? Knocked out one scouting badge and two requirements in one go!

Tuesday
I finished laying out and planting my garden last night.
Nothing's sprouted yet, except Parsley, so it doesn't look like much this morning.

The fence with its locked gate hasn't been much help.
With my own eyes, I even witnessed Patchy jumping over the fence!
It's alright, as long as I do most of the gardening once I officially start my project.

Wednesday
I met Kado Akiyama yesterday when he visited as part of the neighborhood Welcome Wagon.
When he drops by again this evening, I invite him along for an outing.

After I use the telescope in San Myshuno, we swing together at the park.
Kado is the nicest, gentlest person I've ever met!
Or am I simply not used to living alone?

Thanks to the telescope and swing set, I've earned my last two scouting badges.
Time to quit scouting and focus on other stuff.

It's not too late for a quick trip to Granite Falls.
I stay only long enough to learn the campus mascot schematic and buy a growfruit.

Back home, two chess-related whims pop up in a row: Buy a chess table and Play chess.
They're my sixth and seventh emotional whims.
And yes, Kado Akiyama is visiting again.
It's not what you think. He's like a father to me…

Thursday
This morning before school, my garden let's me harvest 7+ different kinds of plants.
And that's it for my 7 requirements. *dusts off hands

Saturday
Kado visits (yet again), saying he has a gift for me because I'm "such a good neighbor."
Awww, how thoughtful of him to give me a rare seed packet. Exactly what I need!
Darn, it's just a cowberry. :(

I'm an aspiring Mt. Komorebi Sightseer.
So, in the evening, I check out the Festival of Snow up in Yukimatsu.

The mascot Yamachan and I take a selfie together.
You probably know this already, but "yama" means "mountain" in Japanese.
And "chan" is the diminutive of the honorific suffix "san."

"Chan" is a childish honorific usually only added to the names of children, young girls, or pets.
So it makes the mountain mascot seem cuter and friendlier, I guess.

Week 2, Wednesday
I could have aged up Sunday night, but I decided to wait three days.
Besides building a rocket ship (for Nerd Brain), I've earned and saved A LOT of yen!

After blowing out my candles, I choose Family-Oriented as my third trait.
Now, I have the time and means to welcome a second hero into my home.

Thursday
Darius, Watcher insists that I rename you Tetsuya after her dearly departed father.
I'm fine with your being Erratic, but that hideous jacket!
You're getting a complete makeover!

Ahhh, so much better, Tetsuya!
Who knew that atrociously loud outfit concealed such a handsome lad?

Hiromi's Requirements
   1. Find 7 collectibles: Rose, Simanite, Striped Dirt Frog, Turquoise, Emerald, Peach, Alabaster
   2. Catch 7 fish: Gummie Guppie, Tuna, Tetra, Betta, Tilapia, Pufferfish, Cichlid
   3. Make 7 objects: Garden pot x2, Garden planter x5
   4. Reach Level 7 in an adult skill: Handiness
   5. Earn 7 scouting badges: Outdoor Adventurer, Scholarly Aptitude, Arts & Crafts, Sociability, Give Back, Good Deeds, Civic Responsibility, Young Scientist, Keep Fit (all 9)
   6. Complete 7 emotional whims: Happy/Send happy text, Conf/Meet someone new, Focused/Upgrade an object, Playful/Tell a joke, Flirty/Send flirty text, Focused/Buy chess table, Focused/Play chess
   7. Grow 7 plants: Parsley, Rose, Snapdragon, Daisy, Sage, Basil, Spinach

Watcher's Remarks
*Collectibles: At Desert Bloom Park, Hiromi was getting two crystals per dig site.
I'm not sure if it happened every time. I'm hoping this a new thing and not a glitch.

*Birthday candles: Glazeylady, thank you for the tip about a birthday sim walking away from their cake for their birthday leap.
I'd thought they did that leap in the place where they blew out their candles.
Walking away from the cake works so well with a micro house (sarcasm).

*Other lives, other stories: I'm really loving being able to read up on what everyone else's heroes are up to.
Everyone's heroes have such different personalities and lives. Every Watches takes such a different approach to the challenge!
It's making this challenge even more fun (and educational)! Wheeee!

Great job on the restart.  In case I haven't mentioned it, Hiromi is lovely!
Tetsuya is a very handsome lad and what a sweet reason for choosing the name.  Wishing him the best of luck in his leg of this adventure!

1.2. Ain't No Mt. Komorebi High Enough

Week 2, Thursday
Finally, I can officially start my Garden Project!
To stay organized, my project plans will grow in black pots and planters. Only two containers to start.

Tetsuya is waiting for me to read to him for two hours.
Since I'm busy preparing the garden, he joins the scouts and starts on his badges.

Tetsuya: I'm so happy that you chose me, Mama!
Hiromi: Me, too! We're gonna have a great life together!

Tetsuya: But, is it okay if I ask a few questions?
Hiromi: Sure, go ahead.
Tetsuya: Are we poor? Because why do we live in such a small, cramped house?

Hiromi: We are not poor, but we're not rich yet. We're HENRYs.*
We have to live in this micro house until I finish my Garden Project.
Tetsuya: But where is your bedroom?
Hiromi: I guess I'll need to buy a tent for myself or we can take turns sleeping in the bed?
Tetsuya: Eeewwww, no!

Friday
The Festival of Lights is held right in front of our house.
It's a combination of the Tanabata Festival, traditionally held in July, and the Buddhist festival of Obon.

Tanabata celebrates the once-yearly meeting of the Weaving Maiden and Oxherd Boy, who cross over a bridge of magpies.

During the Buddhist festival of Obon in August, ancestral spirits return to their homes in the  land of the living.
When Obon ends, family members release candle-lit lanterns to sea, guiding the spirits back to their world.

Hold up! Important news flash that trumps cultural reminiscing!
Have I actually found an attractive man who is single?

Yes! Kiyoshi Ito is a young adult bachelor.
He's Romantic, Adventurous, Materialistic, and he's fiiiiine!

Hey, you there! Stop giving him the eye, you brazen hussy!
Other girl: Huh, brazen hussy? Do people still talk like that?

I get Kiyoshi away from that blonde and start breaking down his defenses.
Oh, his defense were pretty weak.
Look who's got a new boyfriend! A boyfriend who's single!

Tetsuya: Mama vanished from the festival while I was chatting with Yamachan.
Where did she go?  It's almost midnight.  Why isn't she home yet?

Week 3, Sunday
Tetsuya earns his last two badges, so we head out for the afternoon.
At Magnolia Blossom Park, Tetsuya meets the girl of his dreams.
Her name's Evie Delgato.  Is she not absolutely adorable?

Wednesday
Kiyoshi: So, I've been meaning to ask you, Hiromi, about us.
Hiromi: Us? We get along really well together, yeah?

Kiyoshi: True, but are you ever going to make an honest man of me?
Or am I just someone you keep around for when your fun drops?
Hiromi: But would you marry me, knowing we'd never live together or have kids?
Kiyoshi: Oh, come on. Not even one little Kiyoshi Jr.?
Hiromi: Are you kidding? With my Watcher's luck, I'd probably have triplets! Still...

When I propose, Kiyoshi looks so overjoyed.
I wish I could offer him more, but I'm on a mission.
Um, aren't I? Shaddup, hormones!

We visit my ancestral home in Wakaba, now rented to Kiyoshi's family.
I want to meet his family so we can invite them to our wedding.
Kiyoshi's father, who's a B-Lister totally snubs me.
Does he not realize who actually owns this house?

Of course, Kiyoshi's father does not show up for our small wedding.
Happily, his mother and sister attend.
Who, my parents? Uh, I'll write them about Kiyoshi real soon.

Thursday
Here's Tetsuya, reading his last non-skill book for his seventh requirement.
He can't until his teen birthday in six more days.

He and Kiyoshi will be happy to hear that we'll be enlarging the house soon.
If only Age-Down Treats could be given to NPC spouses. *sighs

Tetsuya's Progress
Character values: he's still a child
Requirements:
1. Complete 7 emotional whims: Focused/Read something,  Conf/Tell unbelievable story, Inspired/Talk about dreams, Conf/Make a friend, Energized/Do push-ups,

2. Make 7 objects: Drawings on activity table.
3. Earn 7 scouting badges: Outdoor Adventurer, Good Deeds, Sociability, Give Back, Scholarly Aptitude, Civic Responsibility, Arts & Crafts (plus Young Scientist & Keep Fit).

Ssshhhh. Or was that a blackmail threat? Unmarked bills?  ;)
