Bedtime Stories and Gnomes

Hi, I can't find how to read a bed time story? Does the child have to be in bed? Does the child have to be tired? And where can I find the new gnomes? (The girl gnome) Thanks

As far as I know the normal Mysterious Mr Gnomes are the girl gnomes too. As I understand it, you need to have a wedding with the wedding arch on your property where you have two gnomes to get baby gnomes.

As far as reading a bedtime story, I've only noticed it when my toddler was tired and I got the option to "read to sleep" under interactions from an adult.

I haven't tried to force the interaction yet. My Sim kids are asking for it on their own.  It's just like the ghost story interaction. My Sim girl came home one day and just started telling them.

I'm not positive on all the ways gnomes work but, in one of my families I only had one normal gnome, a male one, I haven't come across a female and a baby gnome appeared. I didn't have a wedding arch or a wedding on my property. I did however have a wedding on a community property with a wedding arch, the gnome was on my home property at the time.

For the bedtime story, toddlers the interaction is started by the adult.  For children, the kids start it by asking to be read to sleep.  I only saw the options if it were evening or they had the tired moodlet.  And the children always went to the parents bed to be read to sleep, never to their own.   Also, if they have the tired moodlet and you click on that, they will queue up ask someone to read them to sleep unless no one else in the house is awake.

Yeah i've just had those interactions start themselves.  One boy came home from school and started telling a ghost story to his empress of evil mom!

The next night I noticed the boys crawling into the wrong beds, I was about to cancel the interaction when i noticed something was different.  That was really neat to see I wish I'd thought to have the dad grab his camera.

You mean they became scared and didn't dare to sleep alone?

I think we mean when they have a bedtime story read to them, they go to a double bed and crawl in to listen and then fall asleep.

I actually had a child visiting friends and when she got tired she asked the friend's dad to read her a story, then crawled into his double bed to listen to it.  He sat beside her and read her the story, then curfew police sent her home.  That was kind of freaky.

They will get into their own bed if the double bed is occupied but the story reader still heads to the side of the double bed and then drops the action from their queue.

I've noticed that my kids will switch around where they sleep when it comes to bedtime stories.

I have four in my household, all child stage, in two sets of bunk beds. Say child A sleeps in the top bunk and child B sleeps in the bottom. If child A asks for a bedtime story they will get in the bottom bunk and child B will either get in the top bunk or go sleep in the tree house. There doesn't seem to be any of the foot stomping and the "someone is in my bed" thought bubble.

So it only works to read a bedtime story in a double bed? The parent can't sit on the same single bed as the child is lying in?

Check my post right above your question Leto.

I've noticed you can read toddlers to sleep too! When they're tired the option comes up for the adult to read them to sleep, so they go get a book, put the toddler in the crib, and squat next to it reading the book while the toddler goes to sleep. It's very cute :)

must it be a children's book? I've got the action in the choices but it's always greyed out.

My experience is toddlers book for a toddler but any book for child.  If you hover over the grayed out button it will tell you the reason.
