Deleting memories
« on: July 20, 2011, 02:24:28 PM »
Is there a way to delete more than one memory at a time?

I was thought as much but figured I would check that I wasn't missing anything.
Thanks for the reply.

They really need to add the following options in a patch: delete all memories from sim, wipe town memory and prevent memories. Memories are driving me up the wall! ::)

I've turned off memory notifications and they don't bother me in the least now.  I just see the happy face when the memory happens, but it's not a big deal.

I would like to delete them all because I have the sneaking suspicion that all those memories are contributing to game lag.

I keep the notification on, so I can delete them as they pop up. Like you, pallyndrome, I suspect the memories use up memory.

Memories are the key to a destruction of a save file, sure. They take up a lot of space. Before patch 1.22 my biggest save file weighed 140 Megabytes. After a week of playing with the latest patch and a lot of memories registered during that span it weighs 180 Megabytes. It's definitely the memories, definitely.

Mine weighs something like 800MB.. or maybe I'm remembering it wrong. But I never remember it being that big. Perhaps it's cos I have 8 sims in the house?

Really basic question nut... how do you turn the memory notifications off?

They really drive me crazy, there are so many of them! They keep showing up every two sim-minutes and they always show up more than once. Like "Margot Petit has wohooed with Robert-something in a bed for the first time", but it's like the 100th time they do that. Really annoying.

Yes, they get annoying very quickly.  You can turn them off in "Game Options".

Thanks, Schipperke!

I was just thinking... maybe they can be deleted all at once? I have no idea, but if they get stored in the same folder in My Documents, then maybe we just need to go there and delete them all. Is there any computer whiz around who can take a look at that? I'm just guessing  ::).

It doesn't look like it, unless it's in a .package file, which I cannot open.

I have turned the notifications off but have to remind myself to go into their memories every so often to delete the dumb ones.  I didn't use to do this right after Gen install, but I got the notification that memories was full on one sim and sure enough they had 300/300 memories. :o  It took me a long time to sift through and delete 75% of them.  Now I do it about every other sim day.

I don't understand why EA made it possible for townies to have memories also.  The thought of going into each and every townies' memories to delete makes me ill. :D

LOL That would take one devoted simmer. ;D I think they added it because it's more realistic that way, but it really makes save files huge. :-\
