I had no idea you could have separate game files, and uninstalled and reinstalled the game every time I messed the town up.  ::)

Oh, and I thought you could only have 4 saves at a time. I thought trying to save more would blow the game up.

Haha!  I thought that very thing, too!

For some reason, I thought it would be hard to find a job, so I decided not to bother with that for a while. Also I did not know she could get free meals from the fridge, so obviously she was soon dirt poor. I thought the free meals LTR was a great convenience...! I remember she was still unemployed when a robber took her toilet and after that I had her run to the park every time she had to go...

I also took the wishes way too seriously. I guess I didn't know how random they were. I remember she had a wish to make friends with Pauline Wan and I thought it was so difficult to achieve but still kept the wish cause I thought I "had to" fulfill it.

Oh, the memories...  ::)

I never read directions, so I didn't know how much the traits truly effected your sims lifestyle. With Generations, I wasn't aware that you couldn't just walk up to a Celebrity and greet them. My sim made a few enemies in the beginning.

It took awhile for me to learn to turn aging off. I used to worry that the Sims had not fulfilled their wishes and they would turn elderly and die. It totally depressed me how the neighbors were getting older and older because of story progression while I was playing one family (I play one family at at time for a long period).  Now I have more control over their ages, especially since Generations.  :)

I didn't know how to buy empty lots so I went to edit town and build a single wall on the lot, that I would later buy as a house :P

I didn't know I could have more than 4 save files (since 4 families pop up) so I was always saving my friends families and I would have one family instead of the ten I have now.

When I bought the Sims 3 I made my boyfriend drive home so I could read the instruction manual in the car! I was far too excited. Usually I read the manuals while the game is installing. I somehow still managed to overlook the lifetime happiness points however. As well as collecting! I didn't even know collecting existed in the game until several sims kept getting that "find a rock" wish. Eventually I took it seriously, and became instantly obsessed with collecting  ;D

I didn't know how to keep a Sim alive...  ;D I played Sims 2 with Cheats the whole time for those interested, my only attempt with no cheats involved a starving pregnant Sim being burnt to death with her Husband... I didn't have a clue that you could change the Buy mode menu thing from the Room Categories. I also didn't know how to move my Sim I made in CAS into a Lot and play them, until I did it by sheer accident.

Lucky.  ;D I found it on the 31st of December, 5 days after a new Computer that plays Sims. I'd had Sims since it came out but my Computer died and I didn't get a new one till Christmas 09.

These are hilarious! :D  The new CAS is what gave me headaches...it took me about 20 minutes to recolor a bed to wicker.  I don't recall what I was doing wrong but looking back now it's just embarassing. :D

I found the guide first too, but that doesn't mean I didn't make any rookie mistakes. I made a lot.

I forgot to mention that, even though I've been playing Sims 3 since March, it wasn't until the last week or so that I got up the nerve to take a peek at Edit Town.  I'm not sure if that's a "rookie mistake" but looking in there and trying to figure out how it works has certainly opened up a lot of new possibilities.
