Save Game TravelDB.package file
« on: December 11, 2011, 03:01:47 PM »
Does anyone know what this file is? I read somewhere I could safely delete it, and I would like to as my save game is over 600 MB of which 550 is that one file.

Have you done a lot of traveling, like visa level 3s and all that?

I wouldn't delete it if you value your VISA's. I think that file might be your Destination Saves, so all the townies there and a house if you have one. It's probably the equivalent to three saved games in that file. If you want to find out then make a backup of your original, save it somewhere safe and then using a copy of that save game go in and delete that file and then try the game, see what happens in that save file. If it all goes horribly wrong you just quit, delete the files with that missing DB file and replace it with your backup of the original. Or you could just not risk it.

EDIT: I looked in my largest game file and my DB File is about the same size as SunsetValleyDB. I only travelled to France and then it got bugged out afterwards so I never travelled in that file again.

Someone at another site looked into the TravelDB file and found it full of photos. There was some speculation that it has nothing to do with travel as such but is something else altogether.

I think it has something to do with memories. If it is save to delete I don't know. Games started after the latest update don't get so big.

Nothing bad has happened yet after deleting the file. Memories are still there, but the images for them are gone (all the pictures). When I went back to Egypt, my house and all my stuff is still there, but the image of the house was missing when it asked me to choose my home lot. Perhaps it regenerates this. I haven't tested much.

I deleted 200 memories from one of my sims and the size of the TravelDB.package file stayed the same, so I guess it didn't actually delete anything from that file. I will play around after deleting the file and see what happens.

P.S. This game was started after I installed Pets, so it is using the latest update, unless there is a post-pets patch I don't know about.

Have you gone into any of the tombs that were previously done?  The reason I ask is because I'm fairly certain you may have just deleted the file that marked any progress so they may be redoable.

The tombs are like they were, but all the treasure is back. I checked the Tomb of Discovery and the Pyramid of the Burning Sands and all the chests I opened had stuff in them again. There was no special treasure in the special treasure chests, but that's probably an adventure thing. All the floor switches were already triggered. All the areas of the tombs were already explored. Statues moved, traps disarmed, etc.

I don't know what the consequence of having the treasure back would be.

Quite a few of the treasure chest will regenerate the regular stuff. They work like the bug and metal spawners. If the special treasure - the relic for each tomb, Pangu's axe, etc - are regenerated then you may have some glitches.
