"Third wheel" in a relationship?

Lately I've been getting a new type of notification in my games. My game's language is not english, but here's a my translation:
"There's no room for a third wheel in a romantic relationship. A regular group would lead to the cooling of the relationship. Do you still intend to form a group?" And then I can choose yes/cancel.

It's confusing because I get it at night when my sim is alone and sleeping, she's not in a group, and she has one romantic interest only. What does this mean? I don't understand what this "do you still want to form a regular/normal group" means when there's nothing happening in the game. Does it mean that her crush has formed another relationship somewhere (he's a townie, not under my control)?

I'm pretty sure it's a glitch, Because i've had it happen before but now it seems to have stopped.

I think those notices might apply to other sims in your town. I assume that's what they are anyway.  They don't seem to mean anything for your household and nothing ever does of them

Umm... I wonder if there is any point to these notifications, then... Why would the game ask me if I want to form a group if it's not about my sim? At least in my language, the wording is very confusing and like I said, I don't really understand what it's supposed to mean. I guess it doesn't matter, and as long as my sim didn't loose her relationship, I'll just ignore it.

This time I ended up pressing 'x' to cancel it, and it popped right back. I cancelled it again and got rid of it. My sim's relationship was like before, but when she went out with her boyfriend some townie woman appeared and slapped the bf all over the face. I got a notification in the upper right corner of my sim saying something like "Oh, I won't be taking part in your nonsense", I assume to the yelling lady who interrupted their snuggling. I don't know if it's linked but it was fun to watch at least. Maybe there was a third wheel involved... (I still don't know about his possible other love interests as he isn't part of the household yet)

Did your sim previously go out with friends? Because, I've had the interaction of "three's a crowd" many times when my sim was NOT romatically involved with anyone (although, she knew their zodiac signs). She asked someone to hang out ("invite out") and when she asked another friend to join I got "three's a crowd" and you need to "tone it down"; but, she was not romaitacally involved with anyone in the group. So, in your situation, she may have a feeling for someone who was in the group? If they are compatible (i.e. Zodiac signs) then the game may think it should prgress to more. And, if she's dreaming about that person (watch her bubbles when sleeping) then she may be thinking aboput that person while sleeping. I always watch the bubbles while while sleeping.

Hmmmmm! when it happened to me I never used the invite out action. But she was in a park.
