Thank you.  I miss Lucy when I am not playing her family.  Other sims are just no challenge. I don't think I will ever let her grow up.  ;D

In trouble again.  Lucy was mad at the world but most of all, mad at herself.  She had blown her chance of starting afresh in a new town where no-one knew her.  She could have been 'perfect Lucy', the girl everyone talked about with shining eyes and smiles on their lips.  Nope.  She was back to being 'that Lucy Angel' again.  The girl who caused people to shake their heads and cast pitying glances at her brothers.

She groaned and wrapped her arms around her knees.  Now everyone hated her again.  Michael hated her.  He had been so angry with her last night and hadn't given her a chance to explain her side of it.  Not that there was much to her 'side'.  Lucy had to admit that.  She had let her mouth run away with her again, and worse, she had thumped a boy she hardly knew when she had promised herself never to fight again.

If only she hadn't gone to the Cooke's house.  Why did she listen to Raphael?

He had told them about the new family - the Cookes.  They had just moved in and he had received an emergency call to go to their place when he was out jogging.

'Luckily it wasn't far and I am faster on my feet these days thanks to all this exercise we get here.'

It turned out to be not much of an emergency anyway.

'The Cookes have three teenage sons and a young kid, and' he grinned, 'There might soon be another.'

'You should go over and introduce yourself, Lucy,' he suggested. 'It would be good for you to meet some people your own age.'

So she had gone.  She didn't care much about meeting the boys.  Her heart belonged to Andy back home even if he hadn't exactly busted a boiler in keeping in touch with her.  She was curious though about seeing for herself the sort of woman who called in an emergency doctor visit just because she was pregnant.  Especially when that same woman had already produced four children.

Naturally, the person she wanted to see was not there and nor was the older boy, James.  However, if he was anything like his brothers, then she was not going to worry too much about missing out on that.

Justin was a total jerk.

John was even worse.

Things had just got out of hand.

She had lost her temper.

He was such a cry baby.  He had run to his dad.

And Lucy had told him exactly what she thought of his sons.

The little kid was alright. He told a good ghost story.  Lucy didn't think she would be getting an invite back to hear another one though.

I don't think John will poke her again lol! He rather must keep quiet that a girl beat him up. Poor Lucy is in trouble with her brothers again.

Of course, being in trouble was nothing new to Lucy and nor was having more enemies than friends.  If she had put her foot wrong at the Cooke's then it was surely just practice for when Hyacinth Blossom called in to visit them.

What an idiot that girl was.  She claimed there were monsters in the lake.  Lucy had been obliged to set her on the right path to logic and reason.

Michael hadn't been too impressed with her technique of gentle persuasion and had told her so in no uncertain terms later when Hyacinth had left.

Then there was the incident at the pond with Gabriel.  They had got to arguing over a strange fish in the water and debate over whether it was a vampire fish or the rare and much prized, death fish, had gone south from there.

'I suppose you think there is a monster in the lake, too,' she had scoffed. 'My brothers have suddenly become believers in all sorts of twittery just because it is spoken by the good and upright, albeit very weird, citizens of this burg.'

Fuming with frustration and ignoring his commands to apologise for her rudeness, she had stormed off home on her own.

She hadn't realised how dark it had got.  Not that she was afraid of the dark. Not at all. Except...

Lucy's heart stood still.  A thing - well two things - loomed out of the darkness at her.

Terrified, her legs refusing to obey her silent command to 'move', she could only stand and gape as the thing drew nearer.

'Luceee.' It hissed.

'Stand aside, miss.'

A rescuer appeared between her and the ghosts.  A strange looking man dressed in yellow overalls but, most importantly, armed with some sort of amazing weapon that he was using to zap the ghosts.

The gun appeared to suction up the ghosts, turning them to mere wisps of vapour that were collected in a container arrangement.

'They won't hurt you,' He shouted above the vacuum cleaner noise of the zapper. 'They probably can't even see you.  Just spirits is all.'

Lucy wasn't so sure about that.  She bit her lip as she watched first ghost disappear up the nozzle of the gun, followed by the other.

'Nuisances, really,' He explained as he sealed one container and held it up for her to see.  The contents looked like nothing more than a glowing, swirling green smoke.

'Plus I can sell them for a tidy sum to the Science Lab. Or I could if we had one.' He grinned ruefully. 'I have to trust that devil at the consignment store not to cheat me too much. '

'Maxwell Lilybanks.' He proffered his hand after wiping it first on his overalls.

His clothes looked so stained that Lucy wondered if his hand would have been cleaner without the wipe.  Still, he had saved her life (probably) so she graciously accepted his hand.

'Lucy Angel.'

'Well nice to meet you at last Lucy.' He smiled.  'I have heard about you from my son Jett.'

Lucy perked up at that.  Jett was one of the less irritating people in this town and as close to a friend as Lucy had.

'Tell you what,' Maxwell Lilybanks said. 'Why not come around tomorrow and meet my family.  I can tell you lots of stories about the ghosts in this town.'

He does seem to tolerate her pretty well but I want this story to be more than Lucy.  Am pondering the next move.  ;D

It was a long walk home for Lucy that night.  She hated to admit it, but that evening's events had thoroughly unnerved her.  The logical part of her brain was trying to find an explanation.  There were no ghosts, she told herself.  Only weak-minded superstitious people believed in them.

She rubbed her eyes angrily.  Those deceptive eyes of her's that told her she had seen something that she couldn't explain - swamp gas or a trick of the light - it had to be that.  Mr Lilybanks was no doubt a charlatan, a trickster.  He had seemed pleasant enough but con men always were pleasant.  That's how they fooled people.  He had done it somehow with smoke and mirrors and there were probably people hidden behind the bushes who were giggling now over what a fool she had been.  No way was she going to call on him and hear the lying words tripping so easily off his lips.

And when she finally arrived home and a table shook and bounced before her eyes, well, she reasoned who would have imagined an earth tremor right here and now.  This was an evening of strange events.  She looked right through it.  'I will not believe this so shake away,' she snapped at the piece of furniture and turned off the light.

Her dreams were frightening that night.  She dreamt she was back at the scene where she had seen the ghost only this time she could peer inside the house. It was bathed in a red glow and she could clearly see the ghost.

'Luceee.'  The spirit she had seen earlier that night suddenly appeared in front of her, closer and infinitely more scary than it had been in real life.  She jolted awake, her heart pounding.

It was only a dream, she told herself.  She took deep, calming breaths and listened for the comforting snores coming from her brothers' rooms.  No ghost could get her with them around.  She was safe.  She settled back down pulling the covers up to her chin.

She fell back into a dream where she saw a ghost cat walking up the stairs to her house.

However, in the vegetable garden there was a dog who was warning the cat away with loud barking.

When the dawn finally broke Lucy ran downstairs to the garden.  Her heart dropped to her stomach when she saw dog footprints amongst the carrots.
