In trouble again. Lucy was mad at the world but most of all, mad at herself. She had blown her chance of starting afresh in a new town where no-one knew her. She could have been 'perfect Lucy', the girl everyone talked about with shining eyes and smiles on their lips. Nope. She was back to being 'that Lucy Angel' again. The girl who caused people to shake their heads and cast pitying glances at her brothers.
She groaned and wrapped her arms around her knees. Now everyone hated her again. Michael hated her. He had been so angry with her last night and hadn't given her a chance to explain her side of it. Not that there was much to her 'side'. Lucy had to admit that. She had let her mouth run away with her again, and worse, she had thumped a boy she hardly knew when she had promised herself never to fight again.
If only she hadn't gone to the Cooke's house. Why did she listen to Raphael?
He had told them about the new family - the Cookes. They had just moved in and he had received an emergency call to go to their place when he was out jogging.

'Luckily it wasn't far and I am faster on my feet these days thanks to all this exercise we get here.'
It turned out to be not much of an emergency anyway.
'The Cookes have three teenage sons and a young kid, and' he grinned, 'There might soon be another.'

'You should go over and introduce yourself, Lucy,' he suggested. 'It would be good for you to meet some people your own age.'
So she had gone. She didn't care much about meeting the boys. Her heart belonged to Andy back home even if he hadn't exactly busted a boiler in keeping in touch with her. She was curious though about seeing for herself the sort of woman who called in an emergency doctor visit just because she was pregnant. Especially when that same woman had already produced four children.
Naturally, the person she wanted to see was not there and nor was the older boy, James. However, if he was anything like his brothers, then she was not going to worry too much about missing out on that.
Justin was a total jerk.

John was even worse.

Things had just got out of hand.

She had lost her temper.

He was such a cry baby. He had run to his dad.
And Lucy had told him exactly what she thought of his sons.

The little kid was alright. He told a good ghost story. Lucy didn't think she would be getting an invite back to hear another one though.
