Performances are always bad?
« on: March 19, 2012, 12:44:38 AM »
I have a Level 6 Singer and Level 7 Acrobat. Any time either one of them does a gig performance, the review is always bad and they get the negative "bad show" moodlet (I don't remember the wording). What factors play in to whether or not the performance is good? I have their stages set up nicely with items from one theme and a few lights and effects machines. Their needs bars are always full or close to full at the start of the show. They have always been on time to start the gig. They have each performed at several different venues. Any ideas?

Do you actually queue up actions for your performer to complete while performing, or just let the game control the actions during the show?  The former always gets me great shows.

The first time I just let the game do it's thing because I didn't realize until the end that I could tell the Sim what to perform. Since that show however I have been lining up actions, start to finish. Particularly for the acrobat, the singer doesnt get as many options.

I think I read somewhere that stage props play a part in how the performance goes too. Do you add props and lighting?

Have you tried starting the performances early? You might just have been really unlucky if you were performing in better venues each time and not going back to the easier ones. I'd suggest taking a show at the Park (or the coffee house) and starting it 2 hours before the official start, and picking the actions during the show. That should give you a legendary performance at those levels, so if you still get a bad review you definitely have a problem.

Also for your Acrobat, keep an eye on the symbols over your audience's head. That tells you what they want, and it will get you a better rating.

For example if it shows a Fire Baton, do the fire baton trick soon. Otherwise you will start getting boos. This will only work if you can get the trick within the first few slots of the action que.

That's a good tip. I did not know about that.

Also, don't forget about the new LTRs available.  One of them is Engaging which seems to help with performances as well.

I saw some of the new LTR's earlier. One makes it so your mistakes are not noticed as much lol.

Oh that's also excellent, as they are both starting to rack up the LTH points!
