I played the last two weeks for the first time without cheating. I really enjoyed it lol. But I played with only one sim. Don't try it with a household.

lol funny topic, I used to cheat all the time because there was so much I wanted to do and just didnt seem to have the time to do it all...but once I started to learn all the little tips and tricks, and realized you simply cant do everything on one sim, I changed my playstyle. Now instead of 1 super sim, I play out a different type of story, sometimes Im a gardner,a fisherman, in the military, etc etc but I dont need to cheat for money anymore, and besides, earning the money makes the game more interesting than having this huge wad of cash and just summoning up everything at will
edit- unless you meant cheating as in on your spouse, cant help you there, cause I cant stop that either!

If you enjoy playing the game then I don't see that it makes any difference if you cheat or don't cheat. The Sims is about fun!
If I am playing a non challenge or dynasty file I often use the family funds cheat and have been known to use static needs on occasion.

If you really want to stop cheating then start of with just one Sim and see how things go.

You could always try one of the challenges.   You are not allowed to use cheats.  You may want to, but, you will also want to follow the rules because there is no point in registering your score if you know you didn't earn it.  Take on a short challenge, some of them are fun to do.  Once you learn how to play without cheating, you will find the game is more fun, and more challenging.  There are many ways to make things easier for yourself, such as the moodlet manager, so plan your way to getting the benefits you want quickly.

For example, If I want the moodlet manager as fast as possible, I would make my lifetime wish something easy to achieve. (example: menu maven or swimming in cash. -  There are many simple, non-cheating ways to make lots of money very quickly, reading cookbooks doesn't take long either).  Part of the fun of this game is working out what gets you to whatever goal you have set as quickly as possible, without cheating.  Depending on which EP's you have, you can make a million in just a few sim days if you know how.

I usually play a single sim, however, I did the Baby Boomer Challenge early this year and enjoyed constantly having a house full.  Obviously, no cheating.  It did get hectic. but, it was fun - except the night when the burglar called and I had to send the kids to school late the next day.

I would also suggest using a small town map such as SV initially as then you won't be tempted to use the teleport cheat.

This is basically the only time I give in to the dark side anymore. When visiting China, I have to use the teleport cheat to maintain my sanity.

Meestor, :) Just learn the meditation skill while there, and have your sim meditate for a few days (the old moodlet manager is useful for this, but, I guess you could simply make needs static.)  Then you can just zenport everywhere - no more cheating!

Maybe I didn't look into the skill enough, but when my sim that had martial arts maxed out would meditate, it took several sim hours of meditation be able to teleport once. Running around is more efficient than what I experienced. Lol. Maybe I was doing something wrong to not be able to teleport more quickly and more often. Would love to know how to make it work better. A couple of times I have had sims take the LTR teleporter with them in family inventory on travels so they could teleport that way. But usually when I send sims traveling is earlier in their lives so they often haven't earned enough points to get it yet. Other rewards are a lot more helpful in general, so the teleporter isn't one of the priorities.

I think it's called tranquil transference or something like that, unlike the other zeneport it doesn't require hours of meditation but just enough to get the tranquil moodlet, my sim has supermaxed martial arts so it's possible it comes with the master meditator challenge as the text says you will be able to zeneport with ease.

I laugh really hard when I think about when first played The Sims 3. I had never played the Sims 2 or 1. I didn't know how to cheat, yet I knew the codes. Lol. Anyways I was VERY confused. My house set on fire, I had a burglar. (What stupid robber would rob us? We had nothing!) I didn't know how to put toddlers to bed, my sim wasn't getting promoted, and I went to town with Create-a-Style. Nothing will replace the fun I had. I remember that day very vivid.

My second household I finally realized how to cheat. I motherloded a couple times and had some pretty good times.

My dad laughs when I look up cheats. He says cheaters never win; this came from my cheapskate father. Lol.

I really go to town with the teleport cheat and instantly editing them in CAS. Whew! I get frisky with the "make all happy" cheat.

I started my first non-cheating family with my family with seven generations of descendants of Zelda Mae and Christopher Steel. Ok ok, I got a little jealous of all of Pam's beautiful Dreamweaver's from her decadynasty.

You'll eventually see that cheaters never win, and you'll have tons of more fun without cheating. :)

I found what stopped me cheating to excess was the Immortal Dynasty challenge on this site. I used to use some of the cheats all the time, particularly motherlode. Now, the only cheat I use is move objects so that my garden can be done indoors. Now, I feel bad using any cheat other than move objects.

Immortal Dynasties - stopping simmers cheating since the launch of that challenge. :D

So true, even in my fun file in IP I kept thinking, oh no I can't do that it's not allowed, but of course I could do whatever I liked it's just hard to get out of the dynasty habit.

Yeah Deklitch, I use the building cheats (moveobjects on, constrainfloorelevation false, etc) so much that I consider them tools rather than cheats. Lol. Building on houseboats is kinda forcing me to not use CFE that much there though.

Sorry folks, you are right, I did mean Tranquil Transference.  I use it so much, I never even think about it any more, its  like changing gear in a car, or riding a bicycle.

You need to meditate for 150 hours to get this reward, so, I set aside some time on vacation in China to meditate in the Chinese Garden with a quantity of fruit and the moodlet manager handy.  I try to get it done in one or two sittings.

Once you have it, set your sim to meditate, click on the ground where you want them to go and select Tranquil Transference.  Then, cancel the meditation or they will just continue to meditate.  It takes only a second or so more than the teleport cheat.  But, you have the satisfaction of knowing you have not cheated.  I prefer it to the teleportation pad because, it costs nothing, and it is quicker if you want to teleport all over the place collecting.  Having to use the telephone to return home after each collected item is so time consuming!
