Computer crashes while trying to play
« on: August 08, 2015, 02:21:53 PM »
My english skills are kinda bad but

One day I started playing Sims 3 after some time and everything worked fine
Next day I started to play again and choosed the same save and after few seconds of loading it the screen turned black with a slight click and my computer started again with with that thing about windows not shutting down correctly or something like that
I tired other save I had and starting completely new game but same thing

Then it suddenly started crashing the whole computer in that loading screen before you can pick save
We added random letters to that The Sims 3 folder's name in documents(factory reset thing) and after that the game started to work and I copied that one save I played few days ago and few saved sims and continued playing because it worked

Next day same thing again

I have no idea what causes this because there's no error things where I could see why the computer shuts down
I'm playing on Windows 7 and I have all expansions except seasons and future one

I had Hubby look into the problem with me some more. Thank you for sharing your computer's specs. Your computer should be more than capable to handle Sims 3 and any expansions and stuff packs you have.

We searched Sims 3 Black Screen and we found a suggestion of trying Windowed Mode.

-- If playing Sims 3 via Origin try this:

Start the game in Windowed mode by -- In the Origin Client, go to the My Games Tab, and right click on the Sims 3 game and select Game Properties - In the Command Line Arguments, add the following text: -w and click Okay. If that doesn't work try: -w und

-- If you're playing via the disc version try this:

Black Screen Crashing or Freezing In Sims 3? - Try Windowed Mode
http://help.ea.com/en/article/black-screens-crashing-or-freezing-in-sims-3-try-windowed-mode/

If you haven't yet, please run The Sims 3 Crash Log Analyzer
http://nene.modthesims.info/download.php?t=416883

Let us know what it says. As this may give us some more information as to why it's crashing.

I've noted a link below for reference. If you want to read it over. It may give some more tips to try.

Hopefully this helps, :)

It works with window mode(at least for now) but it would be nice to play with full screen

I'm happy to see windowed mode is working for you. You should be able to run the game in full screen, there's just something blocking it from doing so.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried lowering your in-game resolution?

Go to Options (...) on the Graphics tab (default tab) To Change the in-game resolution: Go to Screen Size, and from the drop down menu, choose the screen resolution of: 1366x768.

And switch it to full screen in the same tab. To see what happens?

Edited to add:

Hubby mentioned If possible open the case and make sure there's nothing blocking the major air pathways and blow out any dust in there. As it maybe that the video card isn't getting enough air circulation.
