Hello everyone! Thanks for looking at this and taking the time to help me out. I am at my wit's end.

My game worked fine one night. The next day, the launcher started crashing after I changed nothing. The launcher starts, then after one or two seconds I get "Sims3Launcher has stopped working..." but I have enough time to quickly press the play button and the game works perfectly. The issue persists after a fresh install with no mods or CC.

I removed my mods. Nothing.
Ran CCleaner. Windows 10 and DirectX are up to date.
I've ran compatibility mode and as administrator.

My game is patched to 1.67 through the SuperPatcher and I even did this: http://modthesims.info/d/409829
Dragged MyDoc/ElectronicArts/The Sims 3 to desktop and loaded the game to generate new folder.
Uninstalled and rebooted the computer. Did a complete reinstall, SuperPatched and ran FordGT90Concept's patcher.
Zero custom content/mods are installed now.
Deleting caches after each attempt to get the launcher to work.
Downloads Dashboard installs Sims3Packs fine, but only if they are Store Content.
Graphics card is recognized (see below)

The launcher just keeps crashing and I need to install worlds, lots, patterns - things I can't convert to package files.
Double-clicking a Sims3Pack to install it fails.

I do not have a crash report because the game works perfectly fine once it's running.

I am totally stumped by this as you've already tried the troubleshooting steps I was going to suggest. I'll email Hubby about this to see if he's got any ideas of what might be happening.

I have a question.. You mentioned running Ccleaner, but did you run it's registry cleaner as well?

Thank you, MrsFlynn! I tried to do everything I could find on the internet before asking for help. So many people ask the same question for the same issue, but I seem to have a unique one here.

Right after I posted this, I came across Patch 1.69. The launcher (before it broke) never mentioned this so I'm very surprised to see it. I'm updating Origin right now. All of my games are hard copies, not Origin downloads but this could be my issue. I will try to update to 1.69 through Origin.

*fingers crossed* I don't play the game too often, but it seems like every time I try to boot, there's a new issue.

*edit* And yes, I ran CCleaner as a registry cleaner too. My computer needed it anyway!

Hubby did ask me to remind you that patch 1.69 is only for the digital Origin copy of the game. Patch 1.69 does not work with Create a World. SO I would avoid this patch if you want to work with CAW.

If you have already updated the patch and want to roll back to 1.67. If you have the base game disc rolling back should be as easy as re-installing base game.

If all you have is the digital version. There's isn't much that can be done unfortunately.

I'm not actively working in CAW and I hope EA is working on catching it up.

Maybe the digital Origin version is why I never got the new update alert. I'm still updating the patch (back-country wifi is so much fun) and I might as well try it out... Everything is backed up and I have a copy of the SuperPatcher ready in case this doesn't work out. Re-installation will be easy.

This is SO bizarre. I really want to blame Windows 10 (even if I'm trying compatibility mode) since it has caused so many issues with my computer.

I don't really know what else happened to cause this. The game worked and the next day it didn't.

According to this thread -- http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=19193.0 -- that fixed the launcher crashing for Tommy61157.

What it sounds like is Origin may need to be updated. Which if I'm right, there was an update to Origin recently-ish.

Updating Origin doesn't mean you're updating Sims 3. You're just updating the Origin client. Sims 3 launcher uses Origin to check for updates, so if Origin isn't up to date, there could be a potential conflict when the launcher calls the update check code.

If you don't want Origin to update Sims 3 (to patch 1.69) -

1. Login to Origin, look for the word Origin up in the left hand corner of the client and click Application Settings.
2. Under the General tab look for the Updates section and uncheck Automatically keep my games up to date.

-- Automatically keep Origin up to date is fine to keep checkmarked as this will allow Origin to always be updated. The steps above will allow you to have the choice to update the games or not.

Hopefully this will help fix the problem.

It sounds like EA is working on a patch to fix the CAW not working problem. But... I don't think that's high on their priority list.

Be careful of trying the digital version if you want to use CAW anytime soon. As once you install that version it's harder to go back to patch level 1.67 unless you have the base game disc.

CAW is never high on their priority list. If it's broken for a while... That doesn't matter since may game won't work anyway. I won't be able to install any worlds without the launcher.

I do have the base game disc.

I did update Origin, but hadn't rebooted the computer, and went to try the launcher and it still crashed. I'll wait until this patch finishes downloading and then I'll try it.

I sure hope the problem gets resolved. I did see someone on a Sims Forum thread say it helped their crashing issue.

Well, I have no explanation for it, but the digital version update worked. I have the new launcher and it's loading without an issue.

Hopefully CAW will get its fix, but those many months of broken EIG from that one patch a few years ago is still a fresh pain in my memory.... But I guess a working game without CAW is better than no game at all.

I appreciate your and your hubby's help! Hopefully nothing goes wrong while I try to reinstall my CC. I had an unfixable issue reinstalling my CAW world a while ago if you might recall - Descouteaux Bay. I don't think I could handle it if that happened again.

Tried to load a save game in my custom world and get a serious game error. I hate this game. I just don't have it in me anymore. It's so much fun to play and then it just BREAKS and it's done and I have to start all over.

It looks like EA just offered a patch to those that have the Sims 3 digital version. - To where you can use CAW with patch 1.69!!

So what I'm thinking is that Errortrap and other mods ?? may need to be updated? -- This is just my guess.

According to the error, it looks like the Pet Hygienator object is missing (in bold below). Could be you need to do a Repair Game in Origin on TS3 in order to restore it? It should be installed with the Pets expansion.

Can you verify it shows up in the Buy/Debug area in Buy Mode?

Updated CAW is great news! I went ahead and updated all of my Nraas mods after I patched and they seem to be working just fine.

I'm not sure if the object error has anything to do with my world issue. It appears in buydebug and I can buy/place it without issue. I will try the repair game option through Origin!

For some reason this world can't be reinstalled. It breaks and the game doesn't tell me why.

Another error was recorded. Again, I'm not sure if it means anything.

Only other thing I can think of is to uninstall/re-install your world and see if that helps.

Sorry I'm not much help. I have little experience with making or using custom worlds.
