This sounds like it might be some kind of graphics issue.

Here's some troubleshooting tips:

1. Try repairing the game to see if that might help.
2. Make sure drivers are up to date.
3. Try lowering your graphics settings to lowest settings to see if that helps.
4. If you have any mods or custom content, move the mods folder to the desktop and try it again.
5. Just in case you have dual graphics. You may want to make sure it's running the right graphics.
