Sims 4 - I cant use mods.....

Hey guys as you might have learnt from the topic, i am having trouble with using mods. I made a new topic because i couldnt find a specific topic for discussing my issue. Here is a snapshot of my Sims 4 and Mods folders:



Any problem?
I will give you some system details too.
I use a Windows 10 Laptop having the capacity to run Sims 4 at Ultra graphics settings with zero lag (couldnt find any other comparison sorry)
I have downloaded the mod from Mod The Sims.
But for some reason i cant find the mod anywhere in Create a Sim
Can someone please help?

(If required i can give a snapshot of the game screen too)

You have the Mods folder in the wrong folder. It should be located in the Documents folder.

For example:
There is a Mods folder in the Sims 4 user folder by default. - That's where your mods should go.
C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

Thanks for the help.
However this time time i did what you asked me to do, and the game recognized the mod as it was displayed on the list of mods in the game  options. But when i went into Create A Sim mode, the clothes werent there. It isnt an issue of old/outdated mods as i even tried it with a new mod (released a week ago). But i couldnt find it.


Should i try reinstalling the game or something?

I have gone through Crinrict's guide and below is the only section of it that i didnt understand

Can you tell me what Crinrict means by nested subfolders and what is their importance?
 I may be able to work something out then.

Nested folders are folders that sit inside another folder. For example my mods are nested like this:

Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>Mods>Accessories Male
                                                                 
In this example "Accessories" is a sub folder nested in my Mods folder


Some people add more subfolders like this:
Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>Mods>Accessories Male>Tattoos>Earrings

In this example Earrings is nested in Tattoos which is nested in Accessories which is nested in Mods.

In general it is better for The Sims 4 to not bury your cc or mods in to too many sub-folders which is why I have mine set up with many one-level sub-folders all named by specific items or named after the creator. Currently I have 16 sub folders inside my Mods folder and no nested folders inside of those so they are just all one level deep.

Is it important to use sub folders? Like, do modded items/custom content end up in the wrong place or dont show up at all if i dont use subfolders?

Oh sorry about the late reply. No you do not have to use sub folders but it is much easier to manage your cc and mods if you do. I'd suggest only using one layer or one folder for each category you chose to use inside the main Mods folder.  The problems occur when you use too many nested folders as sometimes the game just can not find the cc or mod.

The game mods may have quit working due to them being outdated. We've had a couple of game patches come out recently that may have made the mods and custom content out of date.
