How can I attach pictures to personal messages?

I'm a huge noob and have no idea how to attach a picture to a personal message i clicked the 'insert image' and this pops up:

i know its probably a stupid question but im bad at this haha.

You can't attach an image to personal messages. However you can upload the image to Imgur or any other photo image host and copy/paste the image url into the message. A howto is linked below.
