Game says custom characters are installed but they don't show up

When I go into CAS. After spending hours downloading everything for these custom characters it is extremely aggravating to not see the characters installed in the gallery. It only showed two and that was it. Lame. It says they are installed though so what do I do?

They might be corrupt. I've seen it happening with one of my own sims once.
Be especially careful with sims downloaded from the exchange. They're often full of bad CC. Download only those that are CC-free or with checked CC.

Are you talking Sims 3 or Sims 4? The reason I ask is because you say something about the CC not showing up in the Gallery.
