Other Sims lives?

Okay, so I have a question! When you have a kid move out or add a Sim into the town, do they live their lives? Do they have more kids or just get married if they haven't yet? I just want to know because I added a sims and I'm hoping as let the game go on for  me and he's living in town, I'll be able to meet him at some point and he'll have a job and stuff.

If you have story progression turned on they'll have lives of their own, jobs, and families. However, with story progression turned on they may end up moving out of town. If that's the case you may not be able to visit them anymore.
