03.) Are you using Mods or Custom Content? - Y/N - Y - they all work on my desktop no problems, just laptop that won't load game now
04.) What was the error message/code given?  Can't run Sims 4 with the video card in this system (even though it worked fine for 3 months)
Please check that the graphics card meets minimum specifications and that the latest video drivers are installed.
0e6d1221
--- The number before the colon. [For example Error 122:] is all that needs to be noted.
05.) What were you doing at the time of the issue?  Had just downloaded new CC but as noted above the mods have been running ok on Desktop PC game, just not on Laptop.
06.) Is your game up to date? What is your current version? Game is up-to-date   1.38.49.1020

Unable to load Sims 4 as above, have tried going into NVidia Experience and adj display settings and default graphics used for sims 4 that way.
Also problem with Sims 3 - it just says "Unable to Start Game Device 0 can not run this title No supported graphics card detected. Please check your system hardware.  Not sure if the two issues are related.  Only tried to play Sims 3 again recently, it has never loaded successfully on this laptop, Sims 4 was working fine until a week ago.
Do you need to know what expansions and stuff packs/game packs i have?
Have DirectX 12, not even sure what that is.
config log file has the following error: Unable to read graphics device parameters. (code: 1)

Have tried repairing game via Origin, also tried switching to 32Bit version. No luck.  Have played 335 Hours of Sims 4 on computer so was working ok for ages, have installed Cats & dogs pack and City Living in last 2 months but was able to play both fine.

Hi @AccySimmer, welcome to the forum.  I'm sorry you're having problems with your machine.

There are 2 possible issues which spring to mind
1) the drivers for your graphics card need updating to work correctly with the latest patch - should be a fairly easy fix

2) even though they run on your desktop, some of your mods/cc are causing problems.  Best way to check is to move the entire mods folder somewhere safe and run the game completely mod free.  Don't rely on turning mods off through the menu as even having them in the folder can cause problems with trouble shooting.

Try these and let us know what happens.  I'm sure MrsFlynn or Playalot will be along with more suggestions from their vast experience.

Just like Helen mentioned, go through your mods folder to see what needs to be updated.

We recently received a new game patch that has made some game mods and custom content become outdated. You need to go through your mods folder to see what needs to be updated.

Move the mods folder to desktop (for testing purposes) - This is to fully make sure it's not outdated mods/cc or some hidden files in the Mods folder. - Read more in the post linked below:

How to Fix Problems with Mods/CC

Disabled Origin-in-game. - Origin Menu > Application Settings > Origin In-game tab, un-check or turn off Enable Origin In-Game.

Repair game -  right-click on the game and select Repair Game.

Try running the game in Windowed mode - To do this just right-click on the game in Origin, click on Game Properties and type in the box -w.

If you want to try to get the Nvidia 940MX to recognize Sims 3, read Crinrict's article below:

Getting the game to recognize your graphics card
https://crinrict.com/blog/2013/06/getting-the-game-to-recognize-your-graphics-card.html

Your laptop isn't really made for gaming, it's more of a an office/school type of laptop made for daily tasks, not so much gaming. -- Ultra-low-voltage processors or U processors are a class of microprocessor that are deliberately underclocked to use less power at the expense of performance.

It's also paired with a lower end graphics card that may not run either Sims game that well.

When the computer is under powered to run games, it may work one day, but won't work the next.

The more packs that are available and game patches required, the more resources the computer needs to run the game. Making lower end laptops struggle to keep up with the game.
