My Game Will Absolutely Not Start Up
« on: January 28, 2018, 11:15:54 PM »
For at least 2 weeks now my game has been doing this thing where instead of launching it will go to Origin and act like it's about to boot up only for nothing to happen. I have tried absolutely everything to fix it soft booting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling both Origin and the game, taking out my mods, making sure Orgin isn't in game, lowering the frame rate, and repairing the game on Orgin yet still nothing happens if anyone has any other suggestions to help me get my game working again I'd really appreciate it.

The tips below may help, but please understand that with the new Cats and Dogs expansion and recent patches the game has become more demanding. Working okay the day before and not working now. As EA/Maxis offers more packs and game patches the more the game demands of the computer. Leaving older and lower end computers not being able to run the game.

That said, here are some tips that may help. This list assumes you've moved the mods folder to the desktop (for testing purposes) and turned off Origin in game.

1. Start the game in Windowed mode -- In the Origin Client, go to the Game Library Tab, and right click on the Sims 4 Cover and select Game Properties - In the Command Line Arguments, add the following text: -w and click Okay. If that doesn't work try: -w und

2. Sims 4 won't launch - Try switching back to 32 bit mode.

How-To: Switch Back to 32-bit:

Right click on The Sims 4 tile in Origin.
Select “Game Properties”
Change the “When launching this Game” setting to “The Sims 4 32-bit”

3. Try a Sims 4 factory reset and a new game save without mods/cc.

** Do a factory reset Without Mods/CC or other game saves, files or folders added. If you're still having problems with it Do not save it.

4. If you've got Windows 10 and the Creators update it may be crashing the computer or games. Try turning off the GameBar, as it's known to be causing issues.

5. Turn off or disable Game bar in Windows 10

6. Ensure that Antivirus or security software is not blocking the launch of the game.

7. Try running a Clean Boot as this will help with stopping any other programs from interfering.
