The Shayde Family - An Immortal Dynasty in Sunset Valley

I love the idea of Kaylynn being over Parker's escapades to the point of public shame.

I know, right ... in the background she has her own romance bubbling away, but sadly she can't have any products from it until someone (almost has to be Aggie) dies ... but if she does that ... Sky and Cobolt would have to wait until either Parker or Ethan dies to bring in Generation 3

(Yes, I've done this to myself AGAIN!)

I managed to come up with a dynasty's-worth unaided (while falling asleep last night - sad or what?)  That is an impressively long list, though, even if some of them are ridiculous  .

On Sunday week 7, Scarlet woke early. It was her elder birthday. Aggie had baked her a cake the night before and she admired it this morning as she waited for the household to gather.


Parker was out fishing at the science lab. He was currently trying to catch perfect vampire and robot fish.


Aggie had her boyfriend, Connor over last night, and a couple of nights earlier, Mortimer had Bella over. Bella had now gone home, but all the others, including Connor were here. The others were:

• Sky and Sky's boyfriend, Cobolt;
• Aggie and Connor, the parents of Cobolt;
• Aggie's nephew, Mortimer, the boyfriend of Bella Bachelor and the father of two daughters;
• Kaylynn Langerak, the long suffering sister of Parker;
• and Scarlet's husband, best friend, confidant and soul mate, Ethan.

Scarlet felt truly blessed to have all those she truly loved around her celebrating this final step of her immortality. That she would live forever was something she accepted. That most everyone she loved would die was something she found hard to accept, but she understood the necessity of it. That she would have to go grey ...

well that was something she would never accept! She might have to put up with a sore back, winkles and no muscle tone, but her name was Scarlet, darn it, not Slate, and even though she lost none of her powers

She wanted to be a red head for eternity!

Between them, Aggie and Kaylnn added her elder pieces to her museum room

and a final check of her requirements ensured everything was in place, especially her best friends. So she approached the replicator ...

got her first plate of ambrosia ...

and ate it on Monday morning of week 7.

After she washed the plate (she didn't want anyone else to accidentally lick the plate clean and become immortal and wreck the attempt (and yes, that's happened in the past - this time, no slobs, but who knows what the game might toss my way) she relaxed in a rocking chair and was joined by Ethan.

Her requirements for immortality were all met, but she still had goals to achieve. She was level 8 of the Special Agent Law Enforcement Career, and level 9 of the Gardening Skill, after all ... and she had 6 grand children, great grand children, and many time great grand children to cuddle, snuggle and teach, after all, and no doubt the occasional elixir to brew. Not to mention the funerals of dear friends and loved ones to attend.

She would get through it, of that she had no doubt, but would her heart? THAT was doubtful.

Congrats to Scarlet - or rather, an ambivalent congrats. Even though they aren't my Sims, I find it difficult to read about them having to die

And congrats to you, Deklitch. It must leave you with a sense of accomplishment. I can understand your fear of a Sim ruining things by licking a plate of Ambrosia.

Maybe you will do as Pam did and revive all the deceased Sims in the end when the challenge is completed

Anyway, it has occurred to me, I haven't really given an overview of the house as yet ... so let's do that right now ... I call it ...

Welcome to the House. (inspired loosely by the Canadian Musical, Come from Away, particularly its opening and closing songs.

On an rocky outcrop near a valley, there is a lighthouse.

And in the valley, there is a town called Sunset Valley,
Sunset Valley has
Scarlet: A two person police station;
Ethan: A town hall;
Cobolt: A combined primary/secondary school;
Mortimer: A small theatre;
Kaylynn: An eatery;
Sky: A Spa;
Parker A graveyard with fishing spot;
Aggie: It's a relatively small place, and thanks to Parker's efforts with the ladies of the valley, most everyone in town is somehow related to everyone else.
In Sunset Valley at the top of Summer Hill Court between the feuding Alto and Landgraab families, there is a house, and that is where we live!

Going from station to station, oh my life was just a haze,
Breaking for the toilet in case my butt caught a light;
Now we do our best to keep Sky out day and night.

Scarlet: Next on the tour is the place I call my lair,
Here i mix elixirs and store death flowers over there;

Except for nooboos and toddlers who pee and eat and sleep.

Kaylynn: I am the second sculptor, and paint and photograph with flare,
But I came along to clean and wash and cook and provide lots of childcare,
I really don't mind, but there are puddles down below,
So I grumble and I stamp my foot and put on quite a show,

Parker: Yes she grumbles and stamps her foot and puts on quite a show.
Kaylynn: Shut up Parker, I'm still upset I can't do more than kiss with Miraj in the shadows

Parker: I introduced the two of you, but can we go on with the tour?

Moving on from the kitchen and the table where we eat,
Along with the smaller table for the birthdays; once or twice a week,
We see the eventual immortal bedrooms with double beds in each one,
And all in ones and a dresser. this is where they'll keep their memories.

All: The rooms will have coloured lights, they'll all have coloured lights;
Matching the immortal's name, yes the light's match the immortal's name;
On the room of each room will be memories, from their life some memories;
Awards, Presents and certificates, to help tell Shayde stories.


The Teen Bedroom

Sky/Cobolt: Off the main bedrooms there are ones for kids and teens;
As we grow up we move a room of toys to a room of desks,
In time we'll move on in to the room of blue
And bring in a future sim, hopefully not one but two ...
All (except Sky/Cobolt): No fertility treatment for either one, no nor procreation potion;
No childhood music radio, or kids tv shows;
We need to make sure they only give a birth to one;
Kaylnn: I'll have a baby too if it'll help ...
All others: NO!

Mortimer: Down in the basement where none of us been to yet,
Is the immortal museum, colour coded by each Shayde,
With all in ones, computers and appliances broken through neglect,
Waiting to be repaired by the future handy Shayde.

An immortal dynasty is such an undertaking. No wonder that it seems to spiral towards a funnyhouse
You poor Watcher, Deklitch. (J/K) You are doing a wonderful job and I absolutely love your quirky nature!

I also love your practical approach to the design of the house, and find the overall theme of simplicity very appealing.

That's usually a thing that sets male players apart from females:
It has to be functional before it looks pretty. I can so relate - never was a typical woman when it came to that (either).

I wish more male players would post their stories and whatnot. It's always a nice change of pace.

@Nindigo I'm always sad that I never quite fit Miraj into my stories ... so I did this time ... thinking of you and your 'Alvi life' story. Parker does love his little sister and doesn't want her to be unhappy, so may be developing a sweet tooth in 5/6 days time.

An update to this part of the big musical number in my last Shayde family story post:

All (except Sky): Sky's not the sculptor, no she's not our sculptor,

Sky: Well I'm gonna do it anyway!
She somehow got herself to level 4 sculpting (I think she spent more time in the sandpit as a kid than I realised) and so I'm going with her wishes instead of my plan for her. Just like Gardening won't be a uniquesupermax (Scarlet Shayde is level 9 and 99/100's of the way to maxing it).
Hopefully she (and Cobolt) will be the last of the Shaydes that need to sculpt all those sculptures, she'll do the descendants and Cobolt will do her after Aggie *sob* and Kaylynn *cry* go with Grim.

@Nindigo Of course I'm not hoping for that outcome for any elder sim who is a non targeted immortal in my household. I can't help it if they develop a sweet tooth though, in their elder years can I? I mean, it would be unkind of me not to let them satisfy their sweet tooth after a long life of doing things for the household. I'm not a nasty watcher after all!  LOL

I have had a sim (Cornelia Goth) die of jellybean bush eating once she ate one and then died. At that stage I wasn't aware that it (death by jellybean eating) was an option and it kind of surprised me. I asked if that was attempt over (it was an immortal dynasty) but was advised that it wasn't as it really was a random outcome, no less than the attempt in which Christopher Steel (who I thought was handy) was repairing a wall speaker in the home as an adult ... it turned out he WASN'T handy and died. (there was no water around) Back to jelly bean consumption, another Sim went through about 6 or 7 different options (1 twice) before getting the deadly jellybean. I'm not going to send elder sims who are a non targeted immortal in my household to the jellybean and have them eat jellybean after jellybean all afternoon or anything like that - Sims 3 doesn't seem to have Dentists...

The sandpit is dangerous.  (Can't believe I said that.  Only in the Sims...)  I kept my immortals locked out of it.

Because I'm a complete Nerd when it comes to statistics, and spreadsheets, I've got a spreadsheet on Museum pieces.

Also, Parker got an invite to a party by Sandi French and took Kaylynn to it as well.

It turned out all the other guests (except for one) were all ladies. and the ladies were all the various mothers of the various babies Parker had. (Awkward).

It was not a pleasant party for Parker ... although he did get a new reputation out of it (thankfully, he no longer has a naughty reputation) unfortunately for him (and to the eternal shame of Kaylynn) ...



(I mean, he did try to get frisky with Sandi while Emma, Holly and Madison were all in the room ...)

Kaylynn had other things on her mind at the time, when she discovered the male guest was Miraj.



They snuck into a room and slammed the door after them on me as watcher, but I did catch the following shot of them ...



Meanwhile, remember how I said Parker was trying to get frisky with Sandi? Well, the kept on rejecting him, and then THIS happened ...



Apparently one of their former meetings at the theatre had more success than I thought.

Also, on her last night as a teen, (day before becoming a young adult), Sky begged her dad to take her for driving lesson. they started off calmly enough in the family's motive mobile ... but they got separated and well ...



Woops ... Kaylynn was not happy and gave her a dressing down and grounded her, at about 10pm on the Thursday, on the Friday morning, Kaylynn relented and she went to school for her last day. In between end of school and the start of her shift at the day spa, Sky cancelled work, became a self-employed Sculptor and went to a friend's house - Elisha Wolff.



Meanwhile, Cobolt had invited a school friend over to the Shayde house for the afternoon and evening - Colleen Wainwright, yes Blair and Parker's daughter.



Sky had her birthday ...


and became a young adult!


before running off to the dresser to slip into a blue outfit and getting to work on her sculpting, under the tutiledge of Aggie.


The next day was Saturday and it would be Cobolt's turn to become young adult.
