Non Playable Sims?
« on: October 06, 2025, 04:49:59 PM »
Hey all,

So I am currently playing a homeless female sim for sims 3 and she met a papparazzi and they are now friends. i clicked on  him to make a copy of him in CAS to play him in a seperate game save (THIS SIM IS VERY HANDSOME, LOL) which i did do, but now that i have 2 saved game files the game is now acting unstable. in the game they move very slowly so i am wondering did i break the game? was i NOT supposed to play an NPC sim?  thanks for any answers you can give, because what i did on my end is deleted both games. i have not played a single sim from the time of creation to the time they get old and die of old age. I didn't know what else to do and starting to believe that when i play using mods and have more than one saved file, something happens that was not happening before i had several saves to play to switch to when i got bored with one. Help! and thanks again!

Hi Peanuts,

Forgive me if I'm miss-understanding.

You should be able to save an NPC Sim to the library and/or to CAS, then play them in a separate save-game.

You also should be able to have and play more than 1 saved-game per Sims 3 folder.

It is suggested to not have more than 5 - 10 saved-games in your Saves folder at any given time. Backup the rest to a external hard drive or usb drive.

HI, Mrs. Flynn,

see that's what I thought, but lately, I can't even play ONE game without it always crashing to the desktop. I only have at least 3 saved files, but lately, no. because for some reason, when i start another game, the mods start to bollocks the game. i get burglars when i have a no burglar mod. and other things happen that should NOT happen because of a mod i install to not have that something happen. I did make a copy of the NPC i wanted to keep and when i went to play him in another saved game, the game itself started moving slowly and so once again, i deleted both games. now starting over again, only to have the game crash to desktop again. i am beginning to think i ought to just stop using mods and play the game vanilla burglars and all

It might be a good idea to try what you mentioned. = Start off playing vanilla game no mods to see if that works well.

If it's going well and you feel like trying a mod or two, install those and play some more.

I notice when I'm playing with certain mods installed it will lag my game. Thinking it might be because of what those mods do.

When my game is crashing to desktop I check the mods and custom content I have installed to see which need to be removed. Sometimes the mods/cc will be fine for months, and then sometimes I'll load up the game and have all sorts of issues.

ohhh, I did not know that mods can start going bad! i get all my clothes from the sims resource and have for years! i also download a few from mod the sims. so now i will most definitely install a couple like carl once suggested. my thing is I install all at once, but no more. thanks for getting back to me, Mrs. Flynn.
