Sometimes my Sims don't even have the wish for a Gender which is a bummer if I want the very large amount LTHP from that. My Sims moods change from the Try for Baby and onwards. If you are not always having the Female selected a good way to check is how dirty the toilet is, all that puke really does clog it up. You finally get to know it wasn't that Goopy Carbonara and that she is pregnant when the camera pans to her and she gets a bump.  :)

For my most recent three pregnancies, the chimes didn't sound.  The very first sign of pregnancy was the Nauseous moodlet (from unknown causes).  Apparently, unknown causes = pregnancy in Sims 3.  I didn't time it so I can't confirm Jeanamarie's two hour claim, but the moodlet hit very soon after trying for baby.

I have noticed the chimes don't sound as often as they use to.  I would say half the time they try for baby, you don't hear them.  But your right, it isn't very long afterwards that they get the nauseous moodlet. :)

About the chimes - I've noticed that they often don't sound when I am speeding up my game (so having a speed of 2 or above). When my game speed is 1 I've never not heard chimes after successfully trying for baby.

Anyone else seeing this relation between game speed and baby chimes?

Mine appeared 4 hours after trying for baby (I just tested). I was actually surprised to see it happen so fast - I actually thought it took more like 12 hours.

I always have my game on speed 3 while trying for baby, to get it done somehow fast (at least for me), and I nearly always hear the chimes. Why "nearly", because I didn't hear them once or twice, but the Nausea moodlet confirmed the success. Some Sims are having only one Nausea moodlet, while others have it constantly. Jeana is right in saying that it all depends on the Sim.

I've not heard them when my game is on speed 1.  I don't typically fast forward through things that don't take a long time for my sims to do.

Likewise, I've also had sims who only got sick once or twice during the "waiting period."  One time, I even had a sim that never got sick (although I did hear the bells).  However, usually the poor woman is throwing up every 2 hours like clockwork.

I guess the chimes not occuring really is random then. It seems just a coïncidence it has only happened to me on high speed so far.

The Sick Moodlet last for 2 Hours if that maybe got confused with when it appears. I never hear the chimes but that's just because I have music on.  :P

You mean because you have music off?

Oh, I get it. I thought you meant because you muted the game or something. My mistake.

So it's not just me! I thought that was a glitch!

I hear a sound everytime my sims woohoo, and then I hear the same sound when they try for baby. Is that the chimes?

Chimes can only be heard from Try for Baby, if there are no Chimes then WooHoo and Try for Baby sound exactly the same. Chimes are like the noise you hear on a Xylophone or triangle type instrument noise.
