The pregnancy chimes sound like the first few notes of the song "Rock-a-Bye Baby" followed by a sort of "taa-daa!".  Hope that helps.

Thanks, I just heard it when trying for baby a couple of minutes ago. I had never heard it before, but now I know. Thanks. Also, I have two sims, man and woman. He woman is pregnant, and as soon as I heard the chimes and she had the naseaus moodlet I had her eat watermelon, about six. Then when she officially became pregnant, she got a wish to have a boy. I've only had sims have a wish to have a specific gender if the baby is going to be that gender. Strangely, the father got wish to have a girl. I had the wife eat 4 more watermelon hoping to make sure. Anybody have a clue what the gender will be? I really, really want a girl (for my second immortal in my immortal dynasty challenge) so I'm hoping the baby will be a girl. Thanks.

The wishes don't really matter as long as you use watermelon.
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

In my experience, they often get both a wish for a boy and a girl. Silly sims! ::)

I was jus wondering because this is the first time I've had them get conflicting wishes. It used to be that they both would wish for, say a girl, and it would always be a girl.

Conflicting wishes between the parents are common.  If you get the gender of the wish without specifically trying, it's just coincidence.

If I don't care about the Gender I either leave it random or see which Parent needs the LTHP say for a Midlife Crisis, then I go with the Gender they wish for.

So, the only time that Gender will be locked is at the moment a Surgeon determines it, and when the nooboo actually pops out? (I'm trying to figure out a sure-fire way to get that "Have a Boy/Girl" wish.)

Are you trying to get the wish to appear?  Or are you trying to fulfill the wish?

Well Seabody, I`d reccomend that 1) if you would like a specific gender that you eat 10 of the appropriate fruit the day after the possible conception and then 2) save before the second day when the sim becomes visually pregnant and 3) reload if you don`t get the wish you want and 4) get a surgeon to check the gender or just wait out the pregnancy and reload if the child is not the intended gender, to your save before day two, because even if you didn`t eat enough fruit, there is still random chance. Annoying way to go about it I guess, but if you are desperate for those points then you might want to try it.

Fufill it. I was under the impression that the gender was locked once the mother spun into maternity clothes - but I read somewhere that that's not the case (I could've sworn it was Page 2 of this thread. Apparantly not.). If that had've been the case, then there would've been a 50/50 chance for the wish to be fufilled.

I think you can almost always influence the gender at any time by eating enough of the appropriate fruit (apples for a boy and watermelon for a girl).  Be sure to pile it on because only eating 3 pieces (which is often reported as being the magic number) will not guarantee the gender.  Mine eat at least 10 pieces most of the time.  There are other threads about gender, too, so you might want to do a search for it.

There are? I didn't know (honestly, I didn't)!
Thank you. These multiple confirmations saves one time. I don't want to eat 3 fruits for Generation 7 in my Immortal Dynasty only to discover that it's a male. I think I'll eat 20, just in case.

On the topic of knowing whether or not a Sim is pregnant...

If you have Generations and happen to have discovered the Young Again potion, you can know this immediately. Try for Baby, then click on the Young Again potion in your inventory. If the option to drink it is greyed out, your Sim is definitely pregnant.  :)

I don't want to get anyone in trouble for this, since this involves using cheats, but if you open the cheat panel, and if you right click on a female Sim, and she doesn't have the option Edit in CAS, while still in normal clothes, that's a sure sign she's pregnant. (Sorry to resurrect an old topic, but I had to point out that little trick).
