It sounds like you may have deleted the files from the wrong folder.

The first thing you want to do is open your recycle bin and restore everything in it.  You might end up putting a lot of junk back where it came from, but re-deleting the junk will probably take less time than doing a full install of the game.  Once restored, go back and follow the directions to the letter.  And before you try it again, make sure the folder you're in matches the name of the one mentioned here.

Also, it's a good idea to make sure you don't delete the folder itself.  Just everything in it.

I deleted everything in the 'DCbackup' folder as instucted. I restored them back from my recycling bin, so I don't know what went wrong.

Welcome to our Forum, darkshadowz1994.

I can't tell from your last post if you've gotten the problem solved.  However, if you need additional help, please create a new topic on the Technical Help Board.  This topic is intended to be instructional and is not the place for specific problems.

Also, please be careful with your grammar and punctuation.  The link to the Forum Rules to explain it is in my signature below.

Is it normal not to have a DCbackup forlder? I have a PC that runs Vista, and it is definitely not there.

While looking at the folder in "list" view, there is CustomMusic, the DCCache, then Downloads (and of course everything else; I just want to be clear that even when looking at it alphabetically, it's not there). No DCbackup. I can take a screen shot if necessary.

Every simpack you install with the launcher puts a backup file in your DCBackup folder, so if you have not used the launcher to download anything then you will not have that folder.  The DCBackup is just that - a backup of those files.  That is why there is no problem with deleting the content.

I hope that makes sense and answers your question.

That makes sense. I had not been able to download anything due to an error, which another helpful member helped me with just now, so I can now us EA download manager. I will keep a look out for DCbackup from now on. Thank you!

Are the Files in the "Library" folder safe to delete as well? I'm currently cleaning out my game files as we speak.

Don't delete anything that's not on the list in the first post.  I think items in your library would be things to keep, like lots, Sims, etc.

1,34 GB or 1394 files in that darn DCBackUp folder. No wonder my sims are start to get invisible, can't get in bed and need to be reset every few hours. I really, really must try to remember to clean that file. I really must. :(

I had 1.7 GB of Save Files. I just moved them all apart from my main ones to the D/Drive.

Will my game speed up if I move every single save to another location? So my Save Folder is totally empty?'
EDIT: I've kind of noticed an increase in my load time. So far: :D

If you move all of your Save files, you won't be able to play them.

Have I just shot myself in the foot?
You mean, until I move them back, right? *Crosses Fingers*

Yes, if you move them back into the proper location, you should be able to play them.  What in the world made you move all of your saved files?  I don't think that was part of the instructions on the first page.
