The "Honey Do" List Grand Finale

The “Honey Do” List Grand Finale

Goal
I cannot believe that the light is finally at the end of the tunnel. It’s been a fun journey everyone, and so we offer up our final Sims 3 Tournament challenge. This challenge is the idea of Blackrosea’s daughter who thought it would be fun if players had to accomplish different kinds of things in the game—a list of sorts. When I heard the idea I thought — well, let’s turn it into a “Honey Do” list. Each Sim has their own “honey do” list, plus there’s a Family List as well. It all boils down to a race to see who can finish the three lists the fastest. Good luck, everyone!

General Challenge Rules
The General Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules
  • Create two Human Young Adult Sims.
  • No changing life states.
  • No household additions except natural children.
  • No Vacation/University/Future travel
  • This challenge concludes when your two Sims have finished the three lists:

Sim A —
Complete a wish worth at least 5,000 happiness points
Max a rabbit-hole career (part-time jobs do not qualify)
Complete a skill opportunity
Complete a career opportunity
Complete a Special opportunity (community event)
Buy a reward costing at least 40,000 happiness points
Get a spa package worth $7500
Become an enemy to another Sim
Make three unique upgrades (handiness)
Find one of each type of seed (common, uncommon, rare, and special)

Sim B —

Get a negative moodlet worth at least -40 mood
Write a best seller book worth $100 simoleans in royalties/week
Have 10 friends and 5 Best Friends
Catch a perfect fish
Paint a Masterpiece
Discover a star (via telescope)
Find a gem and metal worth 250 simoleans each
Grow one perfect plant (Sim B need to do the whole process and not receive a perfect plant from Sim A)
Make a perfect meal
Work out for 6 straight hours

Family List —
Both Sims must max a unique skill
Go on a date (dinner and a movie)
Woo hoo in 5 different places
Get married
Have a baby via natural birth
All children in the home need to get on the Honor Roll and stay on the Honor Roll when they are a Child and when they are a Teen
All children in the home need to achieve lvl 5 in a skill
At the end of the challenge own one Business and one Property
Move into a home worth at least 75,000 simoleans
At the end of the challenge have a net worth of at least 250k and at least 100k in household funds

Scoring

Finish Time — When your two Sims have finished all the items on the three different lists, then you are done. Pause your game and note the game clock. Post all the information on your time: i.e. Week 3, Day 5, 11:35 AM.

Ch-Ch-Changes
The team does not want to edit and make changes to the ruleset once this event goes live, but we may have to. This seasons’ events are shorter and the team has less time to test potential loopholes. If an exploit is brought to our attention or we discover something else we reserve the right to ask affected players to redo their effort.

Have Questions?
Please think hard before you ask in the challenge thread because it may be strategy. What you may consider an innocent question could cause another player to go — “oh, I did not think of doing that.” It’s always safer to PM everyone on the team (Metro, ratchie, Nutella, and Blackrosea) for clarifications. Thanks.

And the Winner is...
After this event has closed everyone is encouraged to discuss how they approached the event, but the winner especially is expected to do so in detail.

Is the tournament ending early? I thought the rules said 16 events ending August 31.

Well, folks I need to make a slight adjustment to the number of events this year. I am so sorry about doing this late in the game, but I was not expecting Sims 4 to come out until October or November. With the release date now on Sept 2 I have decided to drop the August events and have the Tournament end on July 31.

sorry about that! I have a tendency to just look at the first page of things like that. I should've paid more attention.

I've never heard of 'Honey Do' lists before ...

However I do like the concept and the challenge.

Is a 'Honey Do' list like a 'bucket list'?

Are the items on the list unique to each sim, meaning if Sim A completes a 5k wish, can Sim B also complete a 5k wish?

No we have a melon here called the honeydew, but the term is for "Honey, do this ... Honey, do that" like a list of things that need to be done around the house.

Wow, this challenge looks great! Like Deklitch I was a bit confused with the name, I've heard of "to-do" lists before, but "honey-do"; in general I've always found it funny to call someone you live "honey". Don't take me wrong, it's sweet, I guess I'm not used to, in Spanish we would call our loved one "love", or "heart" or "life"... it does sound much better in Spanish. Anyways, now I learned a new thing: gotta start making lists for my husband!  ::)

Now for my challenge-related question...hmm, I think I figured it out. Or at least I'm afraid it might be strategy-ish (somehow).

So I'll just say "great challenge" and "thank-you Blackrosea's daughter!" It has been really great doing all of these challenges, a big thank-you to all the team!
ˇPura vida!

Couple question? Can we cake up children when requirement are met? If so do things like skilling have to be done before they are caked up? Or can that be done in the teen years?

Does Sim A have to stay out of gardening altogether, to be sure it's Sim B who grows the Perfect Plant?

Well, there's the requirement that a child stays on the honor roll. But, in my opinion that means that as long as a school aged child gets on the honor roll and stays on it while they are school aged then you're golden. There's no restriction on caking up, so if a Teen would get on the honor roll and then you'd cake them up to YA I see no problem with that. No rule was broken.

Team — whatcha think?

Does Sim A have to stay out of gardening altogether, to be sure it's Sim B who grows the Perfect Plant?

There can be crossover. This was asked yesterday I believe. As long as a Sim does accomplish what is on their list the other Sim can do the same item.

But, they need a unique maxed skill, correct? So as long as the other doesn't max the selected unique all is well.

Yeah, that's correct. Both have to max a skill that the other one did not max.

does Sim B have to keep the 10 friends and 5 best friends, or is it ok if the friendships fade over time? is it a "snapshot" type thing?

Well, in my opinion it's a snapshot type of thing since the rule does not specifically state you have to keep them.

I clarified the following:

Grow one perfect plant (Sim B need to do the whole process and not receive a perfect plant from Sim A)
