Chapter 3 – Winter is Coming.

Library sofas are fine to sit and read on, but not the best for sleeping. Kahlee woke up with a sore back, still rather angry that her tent had been stolen. She did consider reporting it to the police, but decided a dose of revenge would be in order. She couldn’t do that if they knew about the theft, but she needed to get herself a new tent first. With that thought in her mind, she went back to her little island, tended to her garden and then went straight to the shop.

Shopkeep: “Hello again. Got more produce to sell me?”
Kahlee: “I sure do.”

She handed over everything she’d harvested that day, and glanced around the shop. She did spot a tent, but it was way out of her price range. Kahlee didn’t think any more on it and just left, knowing she’d be spending another day in the library. She went fishing for a while to calm herself down, then went back to the sofa she’d been using.

The following day, she had a bit of luck. Once more, she was back at the shop selling her wares and trying to raise some money.

Shopkeep: “I saw you eyeing up the tent yesterday.”
Kahlee: “Oh… yeah. It’s nice. I’m not going to steal it or anything!”
Shopkeep: “Didn’t think you’d be that stupid.”
Kahlee: “Mine was stolen, so I need to buy a new one.”
Shopkeep: “I’d heard you were sleeping in the library… so I brought this.” *puts a rolled up tent on the counter*
Kahlee: “That’s nice, but I’m sure I can’t afford it.”
Shopkeep: “With what I just gave you for that produce? You can afford it. It was my son’s from when he was in scouts. He doesn’t use it anymore, so I just want half of what I paid.”
Kahlee: “Really??? Then you have a deal!”

It was nice to sleep on her island in what passed as a proper bed for a change.

But the storm overhead didn’t agree. In fact, it thought that tents were very, very conductive.

As she’d been rudely awakened by the lightning, Kahlee just turned around and went back to bed. When she woke up, she was in a reasonable mood. Last time she was at the shop, the young woman noticed the nearby beach seemed to have amenities, so that’s where she went as it was nearer than the gym.

Once back on her little island, she found an eggplant seed near her crops. But she didn’t need more eggplants, so it was time to try out her conversion ritual.

Well… a mushroom was better than nothing!

After weeding her garden and then collecting the crops, it was time to go back to the grocers and sell everything.

Shopkeeper: “Nice hall today.”
Kahlee: “Yep!”
Shopkeeper: “You’re in a good mood today.”
Kahlee: “A good night’s sleep will do that. Say… can I buy that cell phone?”
Shopkeeper: “You do realise its 500?”
Kahlee: “I do, but I think I need it.”

That phone turned out to be a good purchase. When Kahlee awoke the next day, she found a voice mail from a man named Guillermo, asking for her to deliver some great-quality produce. Aside from a quick visit to the beach so she could freshen up, that’s exactly what Kahlee did.

Kahlee: “Hey. I got a voice mail that you needed some produce?”
Guillermo: “That’s right. I have a very important meal tonight and need top quality ingredients for my chef.”
Kahlee: “Fish any good?”
Guillermo: “Perfect! I can have him make sushi! Thank you very much.”

That little job gave her another 640 simoleans. The phone basically paid for itself! Going back to her island, she managed to find a rare seed, and also a little friend.

It was odd to find a falcon on the beach, but Kahlee befriended it easily. Unfortunately, she knew there was no way she’d be able to keep the falcon, but when she delivered her produce, the shopkeeper offered to buy it for a good 800!

That was a pretty good deal in her opinion, so she took him up on it and stocked up on some fish. She’d been so busy with her garden, that her fishing had been neglected. There was a good reason for that…

…winter was coming.

I went with a slightly modified option 3. :)

She will be trying to get revenge on that burglar at some point though!

OMG winter is not going to be kind to anyone living in a tent.  I feel sorry for Kahlee!  There's sometimes a fine line between punishment and torture.  :-\

Poor Kahlee! Well, at least she's now got a tent again. I hope she does track down that burglar, though!

Well, right now she has just under 5000 simoleans. Towards the end of summer/start of autumn, once her crops were going, she was making between 700 and 900 a day from selling off all the fruit and veg!

It's now halfway through autumn and all the plants are dormant, but she has loads ready for next spring. So the last half of autumn, winter and first half of spring will be her living off her fishing skill (which is currently 6).

I also found if I light that fire literally just before she goes to bed, it goes out just as she wakes up... so she gets the "cozy fire" moodlet all night. :D

Good choice with a modified version of option 3.  For what Kahlee has done/was going to do to the Watkins, it seems quite fair  ;)

Hahaha... yeah! Poor thief won't know what hit her...

Anyway, I'm glad Khalee has a tent to sleep in. I'm sure she has done some really bad things in that other story which is still on my list of stories to catch up with, but I dunno... I don't like to see sims suffer too much. And Magz from Oz is right. Winter might be cruel for Khalee... Is there even winter in Isla Paradiso? It doesn't seem to be the kind of place that has winters... Ah well...

Her getting hit by lightning is hilarious, the fact that she shrugged it off and went back to sleep even more so...

Yeah I have to admit that if I was playing IP I would probably switch off winter... I live in a warm climate and in a coastal city and our winter is basically a sims autumn/fall with maybe a little snowfall on the absolute highest mountains which are miles away and therefore only make it a teeny bit colder...

There is a winter.

At the moment, I am considering turning it off for that game only, and maybe just extend Autumn and Spring. I have my seasons set for 10 days, so I'm thinking of maybe extending Spring and Autumn by 5 days each.

I would do that... Makes it a bit more realistic, because how many island paradises have snow and frozen ponds etc lol now frost? Yeah that's totally possible!

Chapter 4 – Sweet Revenge.

Winter in Isla Paradiso was actually very mild. It did get cold and frosty, just enough to make Kahlee’s garden go into a dormant state, but at least there wasn’t any snow. Plenty of rain though, so she didn’t have to water the garden at all. Instead she just ate, weeded the garden and then went to freshen up. The nights were getting cold, so Kahlee decided she wasn’t going to stay awake long, the idea being she’d then wake up early morning and be able to get stuff done before she froze to death.

But that evening, she had a visitor…

Burglar: “I wonder if there’s anything new I can steal…”
Kahlee: “YOU!
Burglar: “…uh oh… look…”

Kahlee: “You stole my tent!
Burglar: “Ow! Hey! There’s no need for that!”
Kahlee: “You took the one thing that mattered the most… the one thing out of a whole two that I own!”
Burglar: “But I needed money for food…”
Kahlee: “AUGH!

Burglar: “S-s-s-stop w-w-w-with th-th-th-the s-s-s-spells already!”
Kahlee: “You needed money for food?! I live in a tent because I have nothing! I grow or fish everything I eat! Get out of my sight and don’t come back or I’ll kill you… understand?”
Burglar: “Y-y-y-yes ma’am…”

What Kahlee didn’t realise is just how close the burglar was to starving. Grim came for her before she had a chance to vacate the lot.

Once he claimed that spirit, the reaper hung around. Kahlee turned from her fire and could see he was watching her. There was just this sense he was burrowing down to her soul, and the feeling sent chills up her spine.

Grim: HMPH! HOW THE MIGHTY ARE FALLEN…
Kahlee: “Wait… what? You know me?”

He disappeared in a puff of smoke before she could get any answers. Kahlee just re-lit the fire…

…and then went to bed. The next day she actually had a small harvest on her garden, so she collected that and started to leave the island. That’s when she found the grave of the burglar, or more specifically, the container of her ashes.

Kahlee: “Let’s collect you… shall we? I’m not done with you yet…”

Aside from that slightly ominous overtone, the next few days were largely the same. She went to the shops to sell off her harvests and anything caught from fishing…

…and tended to her garden as required. Once all that was done, she simply relaxed at the beach with line in hand.

Aside from the burglar, the rest of the week was fairly relaxing. Kahlee now had a routine, and she stuck to it religiously. Akoni did give her a call though…

…he had been stressed out because he was about to become an elder, snapped at his wife and got into a blazing argument, so he needed someone to talk to. Surprisingly, Kahlee managed to calm him down and give him a few hints on how to repair the situation, which seemed to help. She also had a voice message one morning, asking her to take 20 excellent quality items to the diner, so she fished up a ton of fish, and then dropped them off.

Her reward? The ability to plant cheese and eggs. What an odd way to end the week…

Apologies for the delay on this one.

I had to reinstall Sims 3 since I wanted to run it off my SSD to reduce loading times, and now my back is giving me a tough time. Pain is annoying at killing off your muse.

Hopefully I'll be updating Immortal Fairy next.

I only found out she was starving because I had to add her to the household in order to cast spells on her.

Hunger bar was literally almost gone!

Now I kinda wanna know the burglar's back story... Everyone has a story to tell. Even burglars.  :'(

Really interesting that the Grim Reaper knows Kahlee. So cool. Maybe they can go on a date. (WHAAATT??!)  ;D
