Why is this stickied?  Well, I'm going to un-sticky it because I don't think it's an urgent topic that needs to stay at the top.  It's funny that it was right near the top and I didn't see it.  I was trying to do a search for it!  ;D

First sims memories? I was pretty confused when I saw that line in the topic header. I thought someone must have changed the name, but it where just topics being merged.

@Pam: I had made this one sticky once, because there where a lot of newbies who wanted to reply on this after saying that they 'finally have found the topic they where looking for.'

I am laughing so hard right now! OMG!  ;D Bob Newbie! ;D ;D I don't even remember how I found The Sims to be honest. I do know it was shortly after my dad passed away unexpectedly and I was looking for an escape. I was playing EQ at the time back in the day! I needed a break from all the drama and 10+ hours online doing raids. (Anyone who plays or played Everquest knows what I am speaking of!) I do however remember Bob deciding to BBQ, and setting the house on fire! I remember Betty and that purple shirt, black belt and pants coming outside to inspect frantic. Alas, I had no smoke detector, and after they both wet themselves, they perished.  Game Over! For some reason, it just made me laugh! I could not control them at all, and after getting the "smelly" reaction, that was it, I was laughing too hard to even play! It was just a nice break from the reality I was dealing with. I don't mean to be somber because actually, my dad would have found it hilarious! That was one of the things we had in common, just off-beat weird humor!

I remember when TS2 came out, and I was SO excited! I remember I threw a party, and an elder guest showed up. Unfortunately, the elder died in the middle of the party, hello! Talk about a downer! Death ended up taking his spirit and for some weird reason,he stuck around and  started dancing to the music that was playing!  ;D I wish I had the screenshots on this computer because I tell you, I was almost crying from laughing so hard! You younger folks might not get this, but what I kept hearing in my head was "sha na na na, sha na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye"!  ;) Gosh now I'm showing my age!

Great thread!
I will love him and squeeze him and pet him and call him George!!

My first Sim memory wasn't very good. Why? Because I played it for a grade at school for computer class! It was SimTown! We had to make sure our city was successful. If it was a failure, it meant a bad grade!

My best Sims memory was playing on the console (Sims 2) with my cousins, and creating our simselves along with Aliens!

How is that not good? I mean, you're playing sims in school!

I used to love SimCity.  I'd build a huge city, get it to prosper, and inflict natural disasters on it lol.  Earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, riots, Godzilla attacks, volcanos...the works.

Yeah, I was a mean Watcher.  :P

That's very interesting. What did you learn from it? Taking care of things, or was it more the managing part that made your school play it.

Man, I'm glad Carl is in charge here, and not you, haha! :P We poor Dutchman can't stand yet another Godzilla attack. Earthquakes, hurricanes, floods and riots, that's daily deal here, but volcanos and oversized reptiles... Maybe on the Veluwe.

My first experience with the franchise was playing SimCity 2000 in school in the mid-late 90s. We had a competition of sorts, and the guy who won did so using money cheats. ::) Said he didn't realize it was against the rules...

Since then, I've played Sims 1 and 2 with all expansions (though I hadn't done much with Apartment Life or Bon Voyage before I moved on to Sims 3). This is my first time playing with any kind of structure, though, and I'm enjoying myself immensely!

I was mean, though not quite that mean. My city always got into debt (and I discovered a glitch in SimCity 4 - if you're in debt, and you use money cheats, you get further in debt. I don't think the game differentiates positive and negative numbers)

My first sims memory is playing the first sims game with my dad when I was really little. I can only remember that I kept sending my sim to parties, and she died every time.  ::) I just got interested in it again after he mentioned a new sims game on the phone a couple months back. Ever since then I've been completely hooked on TS3!
If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0.

I have loved simulation games ever since SimCity for the orginial Nintendo also.  I really loved all the Sierra Caesar building games, Pharoah, Cleopatra and Zeus.  So I was roaming around Best Buy and found sims 1 and the rest, as they say, is history. ;D

It took some time to be able to keep my simmies happy though.  My first sim had a social bar so bright red, lol...I couldn't figure out why she cried all the time. :D  One note, after convincing my mother and sister to buy it, they reinstalled and game a couple of times...thought something was wrong with the sound card as the little people weren't speaking English.  I stilll tease salty about that one. :D :D

How is that not good? I mean, you're playing sims in school!

Not if it was for a grade and the media center teacher had the grumpy trait!  :D

That's very interesting. What did you learn from it? Taking care of things, or was it more the managing part that made your school play it.

I think it was the managing part! I don't even understand why I got bored with it so easily anyways! I mean, a good year or so later, I got hooked on the Sims Series! Darn it Will Wright! Why did you have to invent something so awesome?  :D  To be honest with this series, I don't think I like one version better than the other. I think I like all the series equally. I played Sims 1 years ago as a house guest, with the people who owned the game, so it's been a while since I played. I currently have both Sims 2 and Sims 3 in the download manager (Origin), so it all depends on my Simming mood, in terms of game play. Of course, my favorite expansion pack out of all the Sims series in general is Pets! My favorite Expansion pack from Sims 2: Pets! What's my current favorite Sims 3 expansion pack? Pets! What's my Sims 4 favorite? Already it's Pets!
