I don't even understand why I got bored with it so easily anyways! I mean, a good year or so later, I got hooked on the Sims Series!

A lot of the early Sim games didn't require a lot of interaction.  Most everything was autonomous.  You zoned your areas, placed a couple of service buildings and waited for more money to zone more areas and place more service buildings.  I would often let the game run while I slept lol.

I used to love SimCity.  I'd build a huge city, get it to prosper, and inflict natural disasters on it lol.  Earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, riots, Godzilla attacks, volcanos...the works.

Yeah, I was a mean Watcher.  :P

I thought I was the only one that did that, lol.  I loved simcity and Bowser was my monster of choice to stomp through the city.  I loved all of the sims games.  I have a huge box with all of the expansions and stuff packs.  It is a big box, lol.

I know I posted this before, but we thought we did something wrong, when we installed sims1, because they didn't speak english and kept uninstalling it and reinstalling it, until I think my sister said it was simlish and it was suppose to be like that, gosh, seems like a lifetime ago..
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

All the sim games were pretty amazing in their time. I still have all my game discs for Sims (1) and all the expansions, Sims 2 plus all the expansions and most of the stuff packs, Sim City (2000, 3000 and 4), Sim Farm, Sim World and Sim Tower. I've been a good Maxis/EA customer over the years lol

I played Sim City in school growing up and loved it, but I didn't get into the original Sims game.

I was in my last year of college and I had a couple weeks off in the summer where I was super bored. So I bought Sims 2 with Nightlife. I ended up buying some expansions later on (University Life, Open for Business, Apartment Life and my personal favorite, Seasons). When I moved back home, my computer died and I only got a Mac so I couldn't play my Sims. That summer Sims 3 came out and a few expansion packs and two stuff packs later, here I am. :) In all honesty, I lurked Carl's guide and forum for quite awhile whenever I needed help or to get information. I've also been playing Medieval, but lately have been enjoying the Generations and Pets features of TS3.

That's pretty cool Rebecca. It must have been tough not being able to play Sims because of your computer. I'm facing the same problem with Sims 3 right now because of my graphics card. Luckily I will be getting brand new specs, so I can only play Sims 2.  :'( It's okay though, it keeps me busy, and I like both Sims 3 and Sims 2 equally.

I'm sorry to hear that Jeana. I've had graphics card issues too - it makes my game freeze sometimes. I hope you get everything figured out soon! :)

Something I'd find really fascinating would be: How were Carl and Metro's first encounter with The Sims franchise?

My first experience was when two of my younger sisters got the Pets expansion pack for the Sims 1 for a birthday. They couldn't make it work so they called me over as the family's "computer one", but I couldn't make it do anything either. We hadn't realised you needed the base game before it would work, so it got left on a shelf for months and forgotten about. It's probably still there actually!
A few years later another sister got the sims 2, but I'd left home by that point and only played it a few months ago when at home for someone's birthday. I decided I wanted to get a copy, as I work from home most the time and it gets boring very quickly, but could only find the Sims 3, so bought that and started playing about two months ago.

Mine was WAY back in 03 or 04, with the Sims 1
I still remember talking to one of my mates about to "woo-hoo" with another sim
He made it sound so easy, yet it was so difficult for me (the other sim refused ALL my advances)

I then progressed to TS2, and all I really remember was actually doing a CAS with me and a school-crush (I was 13 at the time)

I was 13 till q6 at the time of sims 1, so it may be that why I find it incredible difficult in the beginning and it was my sister who needed to help me out before another virtual family would face extinction. So eventually my sims even reached the green zones in their need bars whil I was controlling them, but getting them into a romantic relationship, if they weren't from the beginning: that was totally something else.
It was either the game was more difficult compared to the sims 3, or it was because I was pretty young and had zero knowledge about computers. So you're definatly not the only one Samdiatmh. ;)

Haha, are you 13 at this moment perhaps? ;)
Yeah, for in case you really didn't know: software are all the programs on you computer. So that means Msn, all of your games, so also sims and even your operating system, like windows, linux or mac.
The hardware is everything that you actually can touch. Your mouse, monitor, keyboard, webcam and microphone, if you have are all hardware. Printers and scanners are also concidered hardware.

A simple way to remember this: software is everything you can install or is installed on your computer. The hardware is everything that is not.
If you have further questions you better can mail me them as it will be too much offtopic to conversate them here in this topic.
