Hmm, well it's a long story.
When I was four my dad got Theme Hospital for me, and I loved it. I got hooked into sim-type games. I first came in contact with Sims in 2007 when we got Sims 2 Pets for PS2, then I found out about Sims 3 when my sister had bought it and demanded to download it on my computer (I had an ancient desktop at the time, her laptop didn't have enough processing power) and now we get most of the EPs, albeit 6 months after their release. ;D
I'm not sure about Sims 4, I'll have to wait and see. Nobody can predict what it'll be like, we could just wait and not speculate :D

My first encounter with the word "sims" was back in 2003, it was SimCity 3000. The after that, in 2006, I got sims castaway for ps2. The around 2008, Liz Lemon of 30 Rock talked about "I have my sims family who keeps getting murdered." then talk about the sims grew, then I just had to play it. I live in china so I asked my aunt in the Philippines to buy me a copy of starcraft 2 and the sims as a Christmas present. I wasn't that interested in the sims so i played starcraft first but my PC was too slow so I tried the sims and here I am.

My brother played SimsCity ages ago, way before I knew what Sims was. Then I got Sims 2 Pets for DS. I couldn't figure out how to do anything, so all of my sims were starving and living off burnt eggs. We has Sims2 for PS2, but it got scratched and didn't work. Later I got MySims, then I went without Sims for ages. When I went to secondary school, my friends were going crazy about it, and my obsession was born.

Haha, funny. And now you have a good pc to run the game? Sims asks a lot from your computer power. The Pets expansion probably even more (all that fur, you know.)

Haha Leto!
I actually use my mums work laptop for Simming. It's fine as long as I don't play for more than four hours and I save regularly.

I remember Castaway! I went over to one of my friend's house, he is from Canada and at the time for some weird reason he was living our neiborhood. He went from the cold of Canada to the super hotness of Cuba (go figure.) He was playing it and I  pushed him off his seat and started playing. It was fun  :D I never got a PS2 or the game really. That was another step to loving the Sims.

My mum gave me Sims 2 Pets for the PSP (the weirdest game ever) then I got Sims 2 for the DS (which involves beating up aliens with water guns...) and then I bought the Sims 3 and several of it's expansions for my 11th birthday!

Long story there......

By the way Sims Castaway is epic!

Oh yeah, I had the sims castaway! And a game called my sims.

And I guess that would be my first encounter.

We got The Sims sometime in 2000.  I was living in Toronto with my son and DGD and we had more fun with that game - it should be illegal to have that much fun. We got Living Large and I discovered the joys of free sims downloads.  We had over 6 GB of stuff for our people.

I still contend that Simmers need a community and when I moved back home I just didn't enjoy playing it as much as a solo act.  I could do just about anything in Sims1 and I liked the fact that we could have any kind of sim we wanted.  It was all out there in the sims community somewhere.  I had 3 pages of Yahoo groups and I can't remember how many sim sites I had in bookmarks.

I did enjoy designing games for the Sims community and I am still trying to figure out how to adapt my "Better Sims and Gardens" game for Sims 3.  I did another story line wherein I followed the adventures of a sim house within the lifetime of one sim who was born there.  It meant moving in whole new families for the story but it was a great game to organize.  ???

I never did play S2 as I found 'The Sim' rather ugly.  I looked at dozens of sites and it always seemed that they only had one sim who just changed hair colour.  I loved the look of the houses but I'm a people person first.  I also decided against sims2 when I found out that they would/could kill your sims if you allowed them to gain weight.

I am enjoying Sims3 but I need the community (like here :) ) to get the most fun out of the play.  I really like this place.  it has the info I so desperately needed and the community for chatter. (((hugs all round)))

I've been a sims addict since the first one, but I never got involved in a community until this one, and oh my goodness did it make my simming experience more informed, fun, and challenging.

My first experience with Sims was the fb sims social... not very good but got me interested and started on my Sims3 journey.  So I'm a very new newbie to this  ;)

I think it was around 2002 or 2003 (before the Sims 2 came out) when I first came across the Sims franchise. Since I was quite young at that point, I would simply cheat my way to a lot of money and build completely non-sensical houses. I didn't actually play with Sims very often, just build them crazy homes. When one of my Sims died in a fire and the Grim Reaper came, it seriously freaked me out. I don't think I have played that game since.

Fast forward a bit. I think it was around the release of Ambitions. A friend of mine was playing the Sims 3, and I got interested in the series again. I made my first Sims, and got hooked ever since.

I started playing the original Sims when I randomly picked up a Deluxe version at the store (I bought games based solely on box art and price because I was like 13). Not sure when that was. Probably when the Deluxe version was priced around $20. Exact years aren't easy for me to remember. I loved it. So, now I own about 17 or so Sims games (not counting expansions) on almost every gaming device you can imagine. xD
I particularly enjoy the GBA games (but nothing beats the PC games).
It only took me so long to get Sims 3 because I didn't have a computer that could handle it until March or so of this year.

Nice story! Than you have more sims games than me and my sister together (for sims 1 and 2 she had some expansions and I had the others, or we shared one).
